We present experimental results on a new method for ultrafast all-optical logic, which utilizes four-wave mixing on polarization-modulated signals. The technique allows advanced operations such as exclusive-or and three-bit addition with carry bit. Furthermore, we show that on-the-fly error-correction encoding and decoding of a simple Hamming code is achieved when these gates are used on the bits of a spectrally structured word. These gates may be suitable for logic operations in an optoelectronic front end, which moves some of the necessary computation of data to the optical domain, before detection.  相似文献

This experimental analog component study compared two ways of administrating relaxation, either via a computer or by a therapist. The second phase of applied relaxation was used, which is called “release-only relaxation”. Sixty participants from a student population were randomized to one of three groups: computer-administered relaxation, therapist-administered relaxation, or a control group in which participants surfed on the Internet. Outcome was measures using psychophysiological responses and self-report. Objective psychophysiological data and results on the subjective visual analogue scale suggest that there was no difference between the two forms of administration. Both experimental groups became significantly more relaxed than the control group that surfed on the Internet. Practical applications and future directions are discussed.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to investigate the psychometric properties of Internet administered questionnaires used in panic research. Included were 494 people who had registered for an Internet-based treatment program for panic disorder (PD). Participants were randomly assigned to fill in the questionnaires either on the Internet or the paper-and-pencil versions, and then to fill in the same questionnaires again the next day using the other format. Results showed largely equivalent psychometric properties for the two administration formats (Cronbach’s α between 0.79 and 0.95). The results also showed high and significant correlations between the Internet and the paper-and-pencil versions. Analyses of order effects showed an interaction effect for the BSQ and the MI (subscale Accompanied), a main effect was identified for ACQ, MI-Alone, BAI and BDI II. However, in contrast to previous research, the Internet version did not consistently generate higher scores and effect sizes for the differences were generally low. Given the presence of an interaction effect, we recommend that the administration format should be stable in research across measurement points. Finally, the findings suggest that Internet versions of questionnaires used in PD research can be used with confidence.  相似文献

This paper analyzes the role of knowledge in regional economic growth by focusing on knowledge accessibility. The research question is the following: can the variation in knowledge accessibility between regions in a given period explain the variation in growth performance of regions in subsequent periods? A main assumption in the paper is that knowledge accessibility transforms into potential knowledge flows. Our results show that differences in growth of value-added per employee across regions can be explained by differences in knowledge accessibility. Intra-municipal and intra-regional knowledge accessibilities are significant and capable of explaining a significant share of the variation in growth of value-added per employee between Swedish municipalities. However, inter-regional knowledge accessibility turned out to be insignificant. This is interpreted as a clear indication of spatial dependence in the sense that the knowledge resources in a given municipality tend to have a positive effect on the growth of other municipalities, conditional on that the municipalities belong to the same functional region. Thus, the results of the analysis indicate that knowledge flows transcend municipal borders, but that they tend to be bound within functional regions.  相似文献

The photovoltaic characteristics of solar cells based on alternating polyfluorene copolymers, poly(2,7-(9,9-dioctyl-fluorene)-alt-5,5-(4′,7′-di-2-thienyl-2′,1′,3′-benzothiadiazole)) (APFO-3), and poly(2,7-(9,9-didodecyl-fluorene)-alt-5,5-(4′,7′-di-2-thienyl-2′,1′,3′-benzothiadiazole)) (APFO-4), blended with an electron acceptor fullerene molecule [6,6]-phenyl-C61-butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM), have been investigated and compared. The two copolymers have the same aromatic backbone structure but differ by the length of their alkyl side chain. The overall photovoltaic performance of the solar cells is comparable irrespective of the copolymer used in the active layer. However, the fill factor (FF) values of the devices are strongly affected by the copolymer type. Higher FF values were realized in solar cells with APFO-4 (with longer alkyl side chain)/PCBM bulk heterojunction active layer. On the other hand, devices with blends of APFO-3/APFO-4/PCBM were found to render fill factor values that are intermediate between the values obtained in solar cells with APFO-3/PCBM and APFO-4/PCBM active film. Upon using APFO-3/APFO-4 blends as electron donors, the cell efficiency can be enhanced by about 16% as compared to cells with either APFO-3 or APFO-4. The transport of holes in each polymer obeys the model of hopping transport in disordered media. However, the degree of energetic barrier against hopping was found to be larger in APFO-3. The tuning of the photovoltaic parameters will be discussed based on studies of hole transport in the pure polymer films, and morphology of blend layers. The effect of bipolar transport in PCBM will also be discussed.  相似文献

A new alternating polyfluorene copolymer poly[2,7‐(9,9‐dioctylfluoren)‐alt‐5,5‐(5′,8′‐di‐2‐thienyl‐(2′,3′‐bis‐(3′′‐octyloxyphenyl)‐quinoxaline))] (APFO‐15), which has electron donor–acceptor–donor units in between the fluorene units, is synthesized and characterized. This polymer has a strong absorption and emission in the visible range of the solar spectrum. Its electroluminescence and photoluminescence emissions extend from about 560 to 900 nm. Moreover, solar cells with efficiencies in excess of 3.5 % have been realized from blends of APFO‐15 and an electron acceptor molecule, a methanofullerene [6,6]‐phenyl‐C61‐butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM). It has also been observed that electron and hole transport is balanced both in the pure polymer phase and in polymer/PCBM bulk heterojunction films, which makes this material quite attractive for applications in opto‐electronic devices.  相似文献

In this paper, the solder attachment fatigue model created by Werner Engelmaier is re‐calibrated in order to make it applicable in conjunction with leadless, lead‐free solder attachments. Sn3.8Ag0.7Cu solder attached ball‐grid‐array components are addressed to three thermal cycling test profiles. Based on the results, both physical and statistical parameters are obtained and compared with the values relevant to tin–lead solder assemblies. The validity of the statistical distribution selection (two‐parameter Weibull) is studied. Acceleration factors correlating different test profiles are obtained, and they are found to be only weakly dependent on the test vehicle type. Copyright © 2006 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

This paper presents an approach for combined optimization of coupled power flows of different energy infrastructures such as electricity, gas, and district heating systems. A steady state power flow model is presented that includes conversion and transmission of an arbitrary number of energy carriers. The couplings between the different infrastructures are explicitly taken into account based on the new concept of energy hubs. With this model, combined economic dispatch and optimal power flow problems are stated covering transmission and conversion of energy. A general optimality condition for optimal dispatch of multiple energy carriers is derived, and the approach is compared with the standard method used for electrical power systems. Consider the problem of partitioned scheduling of an implicit-deadline sporadic task set on heterogeneous multiprocessors to meet all deadlines. Each processor is either of type-1 or type-2. We present a new algorithm, FF-3C, for this problem. FF-3C offers low time-complexity and provably good performance. Specifically, FF-3C offers (i) a time-complexity of O(n?max(m,logn)+m?logm), where n is the number of tasks and m is the number of processors and (ii) the guarantee that if a task set can be scheduled by an optimal partitioned-scheduling algorithm to meet all deadlines then FF-3C meets all deadlines as well if given processors at most $\frac{1}{1-\alpha}$ times as fast (referred to as speed competitive ratio) and tasks are scheduled using EDF; where α is a property of the task set. The parameter α is in the range (0,0.5] and for each task, it holds that its utilization is no greater than α or greater than 1?α on each processor type. Thus, the speed competitive ratio of FF-3C can never exceed 2. We also present several extensions to FF-3C; these offer the same performance guarantee and time-complexity but with improved average-case performance. Via simulations, we compare the performance of our new algorithms and two state-of-the-art algorithms (and variations of the latter). We evaluate algorithms based on (i) running time and (ii) the necessary multiplication factor, i.e., the amount of extra speed of processors that the algorithm needs, for a given task set, so as to succeed, compared to an optimal task assignment algorithm. Overall, we observed that our new algorithms perform significantly better than the state-of-the-art. We also observed that our algorithms perform much better in practice, i.e., the necessary multiplication factor of the algorithms is much smaller than their speed competitive ratio.
