The aim of this work is to describe and compare mechanical properties of eight widely used nickel–titanium orthodontic wires under uniform testing conditions and to determine the influence of the heat treatments on the loss of the superelasticity. Ten archwires from two batches from eight different manufacturers were evaluated. A three-point bending test was performed, in accordance with ISO 15841:2006, on 80 round nickel–titanium archwire segments of 0.016?inch. To obtain a load-deflection curve, the centre of each segment was deflected to 3.1?mm and then unloaded until force became zero. On the unloading curve, deflection at the end of the plateau and forces delivered at that point, and at 3, 2, 1 and 0.5?mm of deflection, were recorded. Plateau slopes were calculated from 3 and from 2?mm of deflection. Data obtained were statistically analysed to determine inter-brand, intra-brand and inter-batch differences (P?<?0.05). The results show that at 2?mm of deflection, maximum differential force exerted among brands [Nitinol SuperElastic (1.999N)—Sentalloy M (1.001?N)] was 0.998?N (102?gf). The Nitinol SuperElastic plateau slope (0.353?N/mm) was the only one that was statistically different from 2?mm of deflection, as compared with the other brand values (0.129–0.155?N/mm). Damon Optimal Force described the gentlest slope from 3?mm of deflection (0.230?N/mm) and one of the longest plateaus. Titanol and Orthonol showed the most notable intra-brand differences, whereas inter-batch variability was significant for Nitinol (Henry Schein), Euro Ni–Ti and Orthonol. Superelasticity degree and exerted forces differed significantly among brands. Superelasticity of Nitinol SuperElastic was not observed, while Damon Optimal Force and Proclinic Ni–Ti Superelástico (G&H) showed the most superelastic curves. Intra-brand and inter-batch differences were observed in some brands. In all cases, the heat treatment at 600?°C produces precipitation in the matrix. The precipitates are rich in titanium and this fact produce changes in the chemical composition of the matrix and the loss of the superelasticity. At 400?°C these precipitates are not produced and the forces delivered by the wires are very similar with wires untreated.  相似文献

Control of oxidation is a basic criterion to maintain the quality of milk and dairy products. Multilayer co-extruded films are often used to limit the diffusion of oxygen from the environment into the package. In this study, multilayer co-extruded films made of high density polyethylene (added with titanium dioxide), ethylene vinyl alcohol and a layer of low density polyethylene containing the antioxidants butylated hydroxyanisole (1.5%), butylated hydroxytoluene (1.5%) and α-tocopherol (4%) were manufactured. The release of the antioxidants from the films to whole milk powder was determined during 30 days at 30 °C. Whole milk powder stability was measured by monitoring vitamin A, hexanal, pentanal and heptanal content. Butylated hydroxytoluene and butylated hydroxyanisole migrated quickly from the films to the milk powder, while α-tocopherol migrated gradually. Multilayer co-extruded films provided an adequate light-barrier for whole milk powder and the film added with α-tocopherol contributed to the protection of vitamin A degradation compared with the other films.  相似文献

Different species of Lactobacillus involved in dairy product fermentation and ripening were considered in order to study the effect of high pressure homogenization (HPH) on: (i) fermentation kinetics of HPH treated cells inoculated in milk; (ii) metabolic profiles; (iii) release of intracellular proteolytic enzymes; and (iv) enhance of the activity of extracellular or cellular wall located proteolytic enzymes. The HPH treatments applied were 50, 100, 150 MPa, 2 cycles at 50 and at 100 MPa. The viability loss did not exceed 1.3 log cfu/ml after the higher treatments applied. The electrophoretic profiles of α- or β-casein incubated with the different cell free filtrates shown that HPH positively affected the proteolytic activity of some strains. Moreover, HPH affected the acidification rates of the milk inoculated with the processed cells and the primary metabolism of some strains. Regarding volatile compounds, ethanol, acetoin and 2-methyl butyric acid were subjected to the major changes when the inoculum had been processed.  相似文献

The paper reports the comparison and performance evaluation of different diagnostic procedures that use input electric signals to detect and quantify rotor breakage in induction machines supplied by the mains. Besides the traditional current signature analysis based on one-phase current spectrum lines at frequencies (1±2s)f, the procedures based on analysis of the line at frequency 2sf in the spectrum respectively of electromagnetic torque, space vector current modulus and instantaneous power are considered. These last procedures have similar features and the comparison is developed on the basis of instantaneous torque. It is addressed that the speed ripple introduces two further terms in the instantaneous torque, decreasing the accuracy of the diagnosis. It is shown that there is a link between the angular displacement of the current sideband components at frequencies (1±2s)f. This allows a more correct quantitative evaluation of the fault and shows the superiority of the side band current components diagnostic procedure over the other proposed methods  相似文献

Perovskites LnV0.5Fe0.5O3 (Ln = Y, La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho and Er) were synthesized by rapid solidification from arc-melted samples and characterized by the study of their crystal structure and hyperfine properties. These metastable solid solutions crystallized in the Pbnm symmetry, with the iron and vanadium cations randomly distributed in the transition metal octahedral sites. Depending on the lanthanide present at the A site of the perovskite, iron is present with two valences (i.e., Fe3+ and Fe2+). The volume of the unit cell for these perovskites increases linearly with the lanthanide ionic radius, as the perovskite approaches its ideal structure. At room temperature, the quadrupolar splitting of the trivalent paramagnetic Mössbauer component works as an indirect measurement for the Goldshmidt tolerance factor. Close to or below 100 K, these perovskites undergo a crystallographic phase transformation, probably due to orbital ordering of the V3+ cations, originating two different magnetic iron sites.  相似文献

The principal aim of this work was to compare Caciotta cheeses obtained from cow milk previously subjected to high pressure homogenisation (HPH) at 100 MPa with those produced from raw (R) or heat-treated (P) cow milk. HPH had both direct and indirect effects on cheese characteristics and their evolution during ripening. In particular, HPH treatment of milk induced a significant increase of the cheese yield; moreover, it affected the microbial ecology of both curd and cheese. Compared with the thermal treatment, the HPH treatment resulted in a decrease of about one log cfu/g of yeast and lactobacilli cell loads of the curd. The initial milk treatment also affected the evolution over time and the levels attained at the end of ripening of all the microbial groups studied. In fact, lactobacilli, microstaphylococci and yeast cell loads remained at lower levels in the cheeses obtained from HPH milk with respect to the other cheese types over the whole ripening period. Moreover, HPH of milk induced marked and extensive lipolysis. Cheeses from HPH milk showed the presence of high amounts of free fatty acids immediately after brining. The electrophoretic patterns of the different cheese types showed that Caciotta made from HPH-treated milk was characterized by a more extensive and faster proteolysis as well as a significant modification of its volatile molecule profile. The results obtained and the sensory analysis indicated that HPH treatment of milk was able to differentiate Caciotta cheese or to modify its ripening patterns.  相似文献

Porous Ni electrodes were modified by electrodeposition of Ir nuclei from H2IrCl6 solutions at 70 °C, with the aim of activating them towards the hydrogen evolution reaction and comparing their performance with those of porous Ni electrodes activated by spontaneous deposition of noble metals (Ir and Ru). The current efficiency of Ir deposition was found to be very low (1% or lower, decreasing upon increasing deposition current density). Ir deposits characterised by SEM-EDX and XRD consisted of nanocrystals decorating the Ni dendrites forming the porous layers. Ir electrodeposition led to a strong activation of the hydrogen evolution reaction from aqueous 1 M NaOH. The electrocatalytic activity of the cathodes was independent of the Ir deposition charge above the minimum explored value of 1  C cm?2. This charge is estimated to correspond to the deposition of ca. 2.5 10?8 Ir moles cm?2. The kinetic parameters for hydrogen evolution were similar for porous Ni electrodes modified by either spontaneous deposition (studied in a previous work) or electrodeposition of Ir.  相似文献

Circular splicing has been introduced to model a specific recombinant behaviour of circular DNA, continuing the investigation initiated with linear splicing. In this paper we focus on the relationship between regular circular languages and languages generated by finite circular splicing systems. We survey the known results towards a characterization of the intersection between these two classes and provide new contributions on the open problem of finding this characterization. First, we exhibit a non-regular circular language generated by a circular simple system thus disproving a known result in this area. Then we give new results related to a restrictive class of circular splicing systems, the marked systems. Precisely, we review in a graph theoretical setting the recently obtained characterization of marked systems generating regular circular languages. In particular, we define a slight variant of marked systems, that is the g-marked systems, and we introduce the graph associated with a g-marked system. We show that a g-marked system generates a regular circular language if and only if its associated graph is a cograph. Furthermore, we prove that the class of g-marked systems generating regular circular languages is closed under a complement operation applied to systems. We also prove that marked systems with self-splicing generate only regular circular languages.  相似文献
