Propylene epoxidation in a microreactor with electric heating

Gas phase propylene epoxidation on gold catalysts has attracted wide attention from industry and academia due to its high selectivity. However, it suffers from low propylene conversion and rapid catalyst deactivation. Experiments showed that propylene conversion could be increased by raising H₂, O₂, or C₃H₆ concentration in the feed, but the feed compositions were within the explosion limit. It was also shown that the activity of the used catalyst could be fully recovered, but the regeneration temperature was 280 °C, much higher than that for reaction. Therefore a microchannel reactor was devised to suppress explosion and was constructed with Fecralloy, to raise the temperature rapidly for catalyst regeneration by electric heating. In two minutes the temperature of the reactor could be raised from 50 to 300 °C. Catalysts were coated on the alloy belt by dip coating, and the performance of the reactor was evaluated under different operating conditions. Results showed that in the microreactor the overall reaction rate was controlled mainly by the intrinsic reaction rate, and also influenced by film diffusion to a certain extent. The deactivated catalyst was regenerated in the microchannel reactor and the activity was fully recovered.

Fabrication and optical characterization of poly(2,5‐di‐n‐butoxyphenylene) nanofibril arrays

Anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) membrane can be used as template for the synthesized nanostructures. In this article, we have prepared the AAO membrane by using electrooxidation of aluminum substrate in phosphoric acid, and fabricated poly(2,5‐di‐n‐butoxyphenylene) (BuO–PPP) nanofibril arrays by oxidative coupling polymerization of 1,4‐di‐n‐butoxybenzene (DBB) within the pores of the AAO template membrane. The detailed molecular structure of the polymer nanofibrils was characterized by using infrared and ¹H nuclear magnetic resonance spectra, and estimated to consist of almost equal fractions of 1,4‐ and 1,3‐ linkages. We have used transmission electron microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and atom force microscopy to confirm the morphologies and images of the AAO template membrane and the fabricated nanometer scale of BuO–PPP nanofibril arrays. The experimental results demonstrated that the pores of the AAO membrane were regular and uniform, and parallel each other, and the BuO–PPP chains in the narrowest template‐synthesized nanofibrils were oriented parallel to the porous axes of the AAO membrane and perpendicular to the surface of the aluminum substrate. The polymer chain orientation was partially responsible for the enhanced conductivity. The ultraviolet absorption spectrum of the BuO–PPP nanofibril arrays shown that the polymer contains a better extended π‐conjugation system along poly‐(p‐phenylene) backbone, which resulted in longer wavelength shift of the absorption band, the absorption maxima were located at 258 nm (E₁ absorption band) and 332 nm (E₂ absorption band), respectively. 水基Fe3O4磁流体的制备工艺研究

用共沉淀法制备Fe3O4磁流体,总结出用十二烷基磺酸钠与聚乙二醇作为表面活性剂制备水基磁流体的合适条件:(1)反应温度为室温或不高于35℃;(2)表面活性剂十二烷基磺酸钠的最佳用量为0.0030～0.0040 g/80 mL;(3)第一次包裹的最佳pH为9～10;(4)聚乙二醇作为第二次包裹的表面活剂时,体系最佳温度为40℃左右;(5)表面活性剂聚乙二醇的最佳用量为0.0050～0.0060 g/80 mL。通过实验制得了能稳定存在180 d的水基磁流体。并用透射电镜、红外光谱、分光光度计、古埃磁天平等进行了初步表征。     

Relationship of hydrocarbon and source-rock in Nos.3-5 tectonic belts of the Lenghu area, northern Qaidam Basin

Based on analyses of the components of crude oil hydrocarbons and carbon isotopes, the content of normal alkane de-creased from 49.00% to 20.10% when moving from the No.3 to No.5 tectonic belt of the Lenghu area of the Qaidam Basin, while cycloalkanes increased from 30.00% to 52.20% and aromatic and branch chain alkanes increased gradually as well. The maturity of sterane in crude oil is higher than that of its source-rock, which shows that the hydrocarbons were generated from a deep source-rock of high maturity around the tectonic belts of the Lenghu area. The analysis of the characteristics of carbon isotopes also shows that these isotopes of hydrocarbon compounds in the No.4 and No.5 tectonic belt are apparently heavier than those in the No.3 belt. The results of our research show that the hydrocarbons in the No.3 tectonic belt are mainly from a relatively rich sapropelic substance, while the hydrocarbons in the No.4 and No.5 tectonic belt originated mainly from organic matter of a rela-tively rich humic type substance.     

A nonlinear control method for the electromagnetic suspension system of the maglev train

To deal with the inherent nonlinearity and open-loop instability of the electromagnetic suspension (EMS) system, a new nonlinear control method is proposed. The simulation results show that, for a PID controller, the overshoot of the system response to an airgap step disturbance is about 3 mm, and the transient time is 6 s; however, for the proposed nonlinear controller, there is no overshoot and transient time within 2 s. The proposed method has a faster response and stronger robustness. With a designed bi-DSP suspension controller, this nonlinear control method was implemented on the Shanghai Urban Maglev Test Line (SUMTL) to validate its effectiveness and feasibility.
