Many kinds of stimuli-responsive polymer and gels have been developed and applied to biomimetic actuators or artificial muscles. Electroactive polymers that change shape when stimulated electrically seem to be particularly promising. In all cases, however, the mechanical motion is driven by external stimuli, for example, reversing the direction of electric field. On the other hand, many living organisms can generate an autonomous motion without external driving stimuli like self-beating of heart muscles. Here we show a novel biomimetic gel actuator that can walk spontaneously with a worm-like motion without switching of external stimuli. The self-oscillating motion is produced by dissipating chemical energy of oscillating reaction. Although the gel is completely composed of synthetic polymer, it shows autonomous motion as if it were alive.  相似文献

TiO2-enriched CaCu3(Mn0.1Ti3.9)O12 (CCMTO) ceramics have been prepared by a two-step method. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and TEM results indicate that TiO2 particles were partially coated on the surface of CCMTO powders. The dielectric spectra of TiO2-enriched CCMTO samples showed that the dielectric constant was almost independent of the measured frequency and the dielectric loss was markedly suppressed by increasing the addition of TiO2. The grain activation energy was calculated and an increase in energy was observed with the addition of TiO2. This transformation gave influence to grain charge mobility and resulted in transformed dielectric behaviors.  相似文献

Die quenching of AA2024 aluminum alloy billets was carried out on a servo press with ram-motion control of WC-20 mass%Co dies directly after solution heat treatment (SHT). To clarify the dependence on billet size for die quenching, two billets with a height of h0 = 8 mm or 16 mm and with the same diameter of 16 mm were prepared. The cylindrical billets were heated in an electric furnace at 823 K and transferred to the press. Then the billets were uniaxially compressed with a reduction in height (Δh/h0) of 2% or 5%, and further held between the dies. The sandwiching duration by dies (td.q.) was varied from 0 to 8 s. Based a measured temperature change, hardness and TG–DTA analysis, it is found that die quenching is successfully carried out without precipitation hardening only in the case of the billet with a height of 8 mm and td.q. > 6 s. The reduction in height is limited less than 5% by intergranular fracture on side surface of billet during the die quenching process.  相似文献

Direct synthesis of H2O2 acid solutions was studied using a gas-diffusion cathode prepared from activated carbon (AC), vapor-growing-carbon-fiber (VGCF) and poly-tetra-fluoro-ethylene (PTFE) powders, with a new H2/O2 fuel cell reactor. O2 reduction to H2O2 was remarkably enhanced at the three-phase boundary (O2(g)-electrode(s)-acid(l)) at the [AC + VGCF] cathode. Fast diffusion processes of O2 to the active surface and of H2O2 to the bulk acid solutions were essential for H2O2 accumulation. Synergy of AC and VGCF was observed for the H2O2 formation. RRDE and cyclic voltammetry studies indicated that the surface of AC functioned as the active phase for O2 reduction to HO2, and VGCF functioned as an electron conductor and a promoter to convert HO2 to H2O2. A maximum H2O2 concentration of 353 mM (1.2 wt%) was accomplished under short-circuit conditions (current density 12.7 mA cm−2, current efficiency 40.1%, geometric area of cathode 1.3 cm2, reaction time 6 h).  相似文献

The design, synthesis, and bioevaluation of fluorescence- and biotin-labeled CXCR4 antagonists are described. The modification of D-Lys8 at an epsilon-amino group in the peptide antagonist Ac-TZ14011 derived from polyphemusin II had no significant influence on the potent binding of the peptide to the CXCR4 receptor. The application of the labeled peptides in flow cytometry and confocal microscopy studies demonstrated the selectivity of their binding to the CXCR4 receptor, but not to CXCR7, which was recently reported to be another receptor for stromal cell-derived factor 1 (SDF-1)/CXCL12.  相似文献

Conformationally constrained peptides hold promise as molecular tools in chemical biology and as a new modality in drug discovery. The construction and screening of a target-focused library could be a promising approach for the generation of de novo ligands or inhibitors against target proteins. Here, we have prepared a protein kinase-focused library by chemically modifying helix-loop-helix (HLH) peptides displayed on phage and subsequently tethered to adenosine. The library was screened against aurora kinase A (AurA). The selected HLH peptide Bip - 3 retained the α-helical structure and bound to AurA with a KD value of 13.7 μM. Bip - 3 and the adenosine-tethered peptide Bip - 3 - Adc provided IC50 values of 103 μM and 7.7 μM, respectively, suggesting that Bip - 3 - Adc bivalently inhibited AurA. In addition, the selectivity of Bip - 3 - Adc to several protein kinases was tested, and was highest against AurA. These results demonstrate that chemical modification can enable the construction of a kinase-focused library of phage-displayed HLH peptides.  相似文献

The effect of the addition of certain low molecular weight compounds to highly crosslinked epoxy resins was investigated. The behavior which is known as antiplasticization, such as increases in modulus and yield strength and the elimination of β-transition, was observed in the highly crosslinked system as well as in the reported cases of thermoplastics—poly(vinyl chloride), bisphenol A polycarbonate, and polysulfone. Chlorinated biphenyl was found to be one of the most effective antiplasticizers examined in the present paper. However, the remarkable reduction in compressive strain at break and impact strength was not recognized for the highly antiplasticized samples. These phenomena have been interpreted on the basis of free volume concept.  相似文献
