A Thermal Study of Polymineral Clays of the Gzhel' Deposit

A thermal analysis of clays of the Gzhel' deposit is performed and their mineral composition is established. The effect of various admixtures and minerals and the dispersity on the behavior of the clays during heating is described.     

Glazed wall ceramics with improved physicomechanical and decorative properties

Making99Mo in reactors

Conclusions This comparison of two ways of making⁹⁹Mo shows that there is good scope for making it in any area. If there is a thermal reactor having a high flux, one can make⁹⁹Mo from⁹⁸Mo, and in that case, even irradiation in a high flux makes it favorable to use highly enriched⁹⁸Mo and unblocked targets, which raises the specific activity and thus increases the working life in the^99mTc generator.If there is a thermal reactor with low flux or if there is a fast reactor it is best to make⁹⁹Mo from uranium fission products. The target can be highly enriched²³⁵U, which if necessary can be reused, or low-enriched uranium.There are no essential constraints on making⁹⁹Mo, and the production is mainly based on technological tasks.Translated from Atomnaya Énergiya, Vol. 67, No. 2, pp. 104–108, August, 1989.     

Diffusion formation of boride phases on the iron surface

The composition, structure, and size of a coating formed as a result of the interaction between iron and a sodium tetraborate melt with additions of boron and silicon carbides have been determined using electron-probe X-ray microanalysis, X-ray powder diffraction analysis, and optical microscopy. The main regularities of the diffusion in multiphase systems have been considered. The rate constants of the growth of the phases under investigation and the parameters relating the reaction rate to the diffusion and thermodynamic characteristics of the Fe-B system have been determined.     

Effect of defects of the domain structure on the optical properties of ferroelectric crystals

The effect of irregularities of a periodic domain structure on the efficiency of the second harmonic generation has been numerically investigated in the case where the structure is formed by the high-voltage method. The irregularities associated with the uncontrollable motion of domain walls from under electrodes, as well as with the presence of internal defects in the crystal, have been analyzed.
