Cluster dynamics is often used in the multi-scale procedure to link atomistic and macroscopic approaches, in particular when modelling precipitation processes. To extend its use to concentrated alloys, it is necessary to take into account accurately the exclusion zones and their overlap. By investigating the one-dimensional case, one obtains an exact formula for these zones, and its generalization to higher dimensions is proposed. By integrating cluster fragmentation/coagulation processes into cluster dynamics equations, a perfect agreement between atomistic simulations (Kinetic Monte Carlo) and cluster dynamics is reached on the whole range of concentrations for kinetics which govern microstructure in one dimension. 相似文献

The present investigation involves the modeling of gas-liquid interface in a two-phase stratified flow through a horizontal or nearly-horizontal circular duct. The most complete and fundamental model used for these calculations is known as the one-dimensional two-fluid model. It is the most accurate of the two-phase models since it considers each phase independently and links both phases with six conservation equations. The mass and momentum balance equations are written in dimensionless form. The dimensionless mass and momentum balance equations are combined with the method of characteristics and an explicit method to simulate the flow. At first, the linear stability of the flow is investigated by disturbing the liquid flow with a small perturbation. An improved version of the one-dimensional two-fluid model for horizontal flows is developed as a set of non-linear hyperbolic governing equations. The importance of this research lies in obtaining a model that accounts for the effects of flow and geometrical conditions (such as liquid viscosity, surface tension). It is shown that, for positive values of the slope angle (upward inclination), the slug flow becomes more probable, whereas negative values of the slope angle (downward inclination) induce a more stable stratified flow. 相似文献

Existing structural models of psychopathology need to be expanded to include additional diagnostic constructs beyond mood, anxiety, substance use, and antisocial behavior disorders. The goal of this study was to locate eating disorders within a hierarchical structural model of psychopathology that is anchored by broad Internalizing and Externalizing factors. Participants were female adolescent twins (N = 1,434) from the Minnesota Twin Family Study. The authors compared the fit of 4 models in which eating disorders (a) defined their own diagnostic class, (b) represented a subclass within Internalizing, (c) formed a subclass within Externalizing, and (d) were allowed to cross-load on both Internalizing and Externalizing. In the best fitting model, eating disorders formed a subfactor within Internalizing. These findings underscore the value of developing more comprehensive empirically based models of psychopathology to increase researchers' understanding of diverse mental disorders. Polymeric substrates are of importance in plastic electronics. However, polymeric surfaces can exhibit different morphologies depending on whether they are amorphous or semi-crystalline. This work focuses on the impact of the surface structure of bisphenol A polycarbonate substrates on the nucleation and growth of a p-type semi-conductor, namely zinc phthalocyanine (ZnPc). ZnPc films were deposited under high vacuum at different substrate temperatures on oriented semi-crystalline as well as amorphous substrates of PC. The oriented substrates of PC were prepared by a method combining mechanical rubbing and solvent induced crystallization: the substrates show a periodic and regular alternation of oriented crystalline lamellae. Grazing incidence X-ray diffraction shows that the crystalline lamellae of PC have a preferential (a, c) contact plane. Moreover, the substrates show a bilayer structure made of a 60 nm-thick semi-crystalline overlayer atop an amorphous underlayer. UV–vis spectroscopy shows that the polymorphism of the ZnPc films is not modified by the surface structure of the PC substrate (amorphous versus semi-crystalline). However, the statistical analysis of domain size and density versus substrate temperature Ts evidences different apparent activation energies of the growth mechanism. High Resolution Transmission Electron Microscopy suggests that twinning along a (2 ?1 0) plane accounts for the bifurcations of the in-plane b-axis direction of the ZnPc nanocrystals. On oriented substrates of PC, such bifurcations are partly suppressed by the nanocorrugation of the surface, resulting in larger apparent domain sizes and unidirectional in-plane orientation. 相似文献

Successful import of hundreds of nucleus-encoded proteins is essential for chloroplast biogenesis. The import of cytosolic precursor proteins relies on the Toc- (translocon at the outer chloroplast membrane) and Tic- (translocon at the inner chloroplast membrane) complexes. In Arabidopsis thaliana,precursor recognition is mainly mediated by outer membrane receptors belonging to two gene families: Toc34/33 and Toc159/132/120/90. The role in import and precursor selectivity of these receptors has been intensively studied,but the function of Toc90 still remains unclear. Here,we report the ability of Toc90 to support the import of Toc159 client proteins. We show that the overexpression of Toc90 partially complements the albino knockout of Toc159 and restores photoautotrophic growth. Several lines of evidence including proteome profiling demonstrate the import and accumulation of proteins essential for chloroplast biogenesis and functionality. 相似文献

The aim of the present work was to study the effect of dietary supplementation of Euphorbia heterophylla on the quality of the Guinea pig meat. Forty guinea pigs were divided into two groups fed ad libitum during 46 days a Panicum maximum diet (Panicum diet) or a mixed diet (75% Panicum maximum + 25% Euphorbia heterophylla) (Paneuphorbia diet) to compare their effects on performances and on the composition of guinea pig tissues and carcass. Daily weight gain, liver weight, carcass yield, and the lipid content of both the carcass and the perirenal fat were significantly increased by the Paneuphorbia diet. Feeding Paneuphorbia diet increased (P < 0.05) the n-3 PUFA content in perirenal fat, muscle, liver and in the carcass and decreased (P < 0.05) the n-6/n-3 ratios in all these tissues and the carcass. In conclusion, this study shows that Euphorbia heterophylla is a source of n-3 fatty acids which can improve significantly the n-3 PUFA content of Guinea pig meat and carcass. 相似文献

LiBH4–MgH2 is an attractive reversible hydrogen storage system, it combines two high capacity hydrides (18.3 and 7.6 wt.%, respectively) and the concerted dehydrogenation reaction has a smaller enthalpy change than either species on its own. The latter effect leads to a destabilisation of the hydrided products and results in a lowering of the dehydrogenation temperature. In situ neutron diffraction experiments have been undertaken to characterise the mechanism of decomposition of the LiBD4–MgD2 system, with an emphasis on investigating the synergistic effects of the components during cycling under various conditions. This study compares the effect of stoichiometry of the multicomponent system on the cycling mechanism. Results show that LiBD4–MgD2 in a 2:1 molar ratio can be reversibly dehydrogenated under low pressures of hydrogen or under vacuum, contrary to earlier reports in the literature, although the reaction was only partially reversed for the 2:1 mixture decomposed under vacuum. This work shows that the reaction pathway was affected by dehydrogenation conditions, but the stoichiometry of the multicomponent system played a minor role. 相似文献

Polymer–carbon nanotube composite coatings have properties that are desirable for a wide range of applications. However, fabrication of these coatings onto submillimeter structures with the efficient use of nanotubes has been challenging. Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS)–carbon nanotube composite coatings are of particular interest for optical ultrasound transmission, which shows promise for biomedical imaging and therapeutic applications. In this study, methods for fabricating composite coatings comprising PDMS and multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) with submicrometer thickness are developed and used to coat the distal ends of optical fibers. These methods include creating a MWCNT organogel using two solvents, dip coating of this organogel, and subsequent overcoating with PDMS. These coated fibers are used as all‐optical ultrasound transmitters that achieve high ultrasound pressures (up to 21.5 MPa peak‐to‐peak) and broad frequency bandwidths (up to 39.8 MHz). Their clinical potential is demonstrated with all‐optical pulse‐echo ultrasound imaging of an aorta. The fabrication methods in this paper allow for the creation of thin, uniform carbon nanotube composites on miniature or temperature‐sensitive surfaces, to enable a wide range of advanced sensing capabilities. 相似文献

Conjunctival melanoma (CM) iss a rare and aggressive tumour that is increasing in frequency. The prognostic value of PD-L1 expression, alone or in combination with CD8 and PD-1 expression and the BRAF and NRAS status, has not been determined in CM to date. We evaluated the expression of PD-L1, CD8, PD-1 in CM and investigated whether there was an association between the expression of these markers and the BRAF and NRAS molecular profile as well as some clinico-pathological criteria. A total of sixty-five CM were assessed for PD-L1, PD-1, and CD8 expression by immunohistochemistry (IHC) and for BRAF and NRAS genomic alterations using molecular biology techniques and anti-BRAF and anti-NRAS antibodies. PD-L1 expression in tumour cells (TC) was very low or absent but detected in tumour-infiltrating immune cells (IC). A correlation was observed between the expression of PD-L1, CD8, and PD-1 in IC. No correlation between PD-L1 expression (in tumour and/or immune cells) and BRAF or NRAS mutations was observed. PD-L1 expression in IC correlated with a higher pTNM stage and PD-L1 expression in TC with worse disease-specific survival. PD-L1 expression is a potential prognostic biomarker that correlates with poor prognosis in CM patients. 相似文献
