The nanoporous copper foam was prepared by electrochemical reduction of copper ion at the copper substrate. The as-prepared substrate was used as three-dimensional templates for preparation of Pt coated nanostructured Cu-foam by galvanic replacement of Cu with platinum by simply immersing the prepared nanoporous copper foam in a K2PtCl6 aqueous solution. The structure and nature of the fabricated Pt coated nanostructured Cu-foam was characterized by scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive X-ray spectrometry. Pt coated nanostructured Cu-foam modified copper electrode exhibited remarkable electrocatalytic activity for the hydrogen evolution reaction. The effect of electrodeposition time during Cu-foam formation on the kinetic constants for hydrogen evolution reaction was comparatively investigated. 相似文献

The main objective of this study was to improve the antioxidant properties of parboiled wheat noodles (salted and yellow alkaline noodles) by adding different concentrations of pomegranate peel extract (PPE) into the noodle formulations (0, 0.75, and 1.50%) in order to produce the acceptable new product. The total phenolic contents and 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging activity varied from 4.07 to 8.61 mg GAE/g and from 23.20 to 95.16%, respectively. The white salted noodle fortified with 1.50% PPE had the highest antioxidant activity among all prepared noodles. The fortified noodles showed significant (p ≤ 0.05) differences in terms of color and textural properties as compared to the control noodle. The fortified white salted noodles had a light brown color with a soft texture, whereas the fortified yellow alkaline noodles were substantially darker and harder than the white salted noodles. The fortified white noodles had a shorter optimum cooking time than the yellow noodles. The addition of PPE to the formulation of both noodles led to a reduction of pH. The current study revealed that the fortified noodles had more homogeneous and compact microstructure than the control noodle. There was no significant difference (p > 0.05) between the overall acceptability of both fortified noodles. 相似文献

Lipid oxidation is among the major flaw-grounding processes in meat and meat-based products that can affect interactions among lipids and proteins, leading to critically undesirable changes. Therefore, it is imperative to control lipid oxidation in meat allied products to enhance consumer acceptability. Moreover, lipid oxidation is somber dilemma visage by the meat processing industry, affects food constituents, leading to detrimental alterations that can impart the deleterious effects on human health upon consumption. Various synthetic (butylated hydroxyanisole (BHA), butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT), and tertiary butylhydroquinone (TBHQ)) and natural antioxidants (vitamin C, vitamin A, tocopherols, especially vitamin E, flavonoids particularly quercetin, proteins, and peptides) as well as preservatives are employed to extend the storability of meat and resultants products; however, great consideration is paid to the utilization of natural antioxidants due to the harmful side effects imparted by synthetic counterparts. Recently, bioactive peptides are claimed to thwart lipid oxidation in meat and other products; in addition, these antioxidant peptides have also been reported to possess substantial health-promoting potential besides controlling oxidation. Therefore, the present review is intended to emphasize the sources, production methods, and applications of antioxidant proteins and peptides to control oxidative degradation in meat products and the potential health benefits of bioactive peptides. Furthermore, the techniques available for the extraction, characterization, and assessment of the antioxidant capability of bioactive peptides are discussed critically in this review. 相似文献

In order to encourage the survival of both captive and wild populations of bonefish (Albula vulpes), a deeper understanding of the species' early developmental characteristics is necessary. During ontogenesis, bonefish utilize lipids as a source of energy before the start of exogenous feeding. The goal of this study is to gain insight into the energetic needs of bonefish leptocephalus larvae in the post-hatch larval stage. Broodstock were collected in the wild and hormone induced. Spawning yielded eggs that were fertilized and were then incubated until hatching. Larval development was monitored throughout the duration of the trial until all larvae perished. Samples of larval tissue were taken to the lab for lipid analysis and composition was compared at different developmental stages. Larval lipid composition was significantly different across sample groups showing a change in lipid content related to development. After hatching, larvae gradually depleted wax esters-sterol ester (WE-SE) reserves over a period of 4 days, while simultaneously increasing hydrocarbon (HC). The role of WE-SE is seemingly tied to both buoyancy and energy reserves due to its high abundance immediately post-hatch and selective catabolism. As larvae weaned off of the nutrition provided by the yolk, exogenous feeding began to diversify lipid composition and overall lipid reserves were depleted. Future directions included the development of optimal larval feeds based on this analysis in order to gain more insight into the nutritional needs and requirements during the critical leptocephalus stages. 相似文献

Cell–cell communication is an essential mechanism for the maintenance and development of various organs, including the female reproductive system. Today, it is well-known that the function of the female reproductive system and successful pregnancy are related to appropriate follicular growth, oogenesis, implantation, embryo development, and proper fertilization, dependent on the main regulators of cellular crosstalk, exosomes. During exosome synthesis, selective packaging of different factors into these vesicles happens within the originating cells. Therefore, exosomes contain both genetic and proteomic data that could be applied as biomarkers or therapeutic targets in pregnancy-associated disorders or placental functions. In this context, the present review aims to compile information about the potential exosomes with key molecular cargos that are dysregulated in female reproductive diseases which lead to infertility, including polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), premature ovarian failure (POF), Asherman syndrome, endometriosis, endometrial cancer, cervical cancer, ovarian cancer, and preeclampsia, as well as signaling pathways related to the regulation of the reproductive system and pregnancy outcome during these pathological conditions. The increasing need for more efficient separation processes has motivated the development of polymer membranes that can provide fast and selective transport. In this work, cadmium-based metal–organic framework (MOF) nanoparticles and a polyurethane–urea (PUU) elastomer were synthesized. New mixed-matrix membranes (MMMs) were then fabricated from the nanoparticles and the PUU. SEM images verified that embedding the nanoparticles changes the morphology of the PUU and the nanoparticles disperse well in the PUU due to satisfactory compatibility of the polymer and nanoparticles. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction analysis confirmed the dispersion of the nanoparticles in the soft segment of the PUU. With increased temperature, gas permeabilities of the MMMs improved but their sieving ability deteriorated. An MMM incorporating 2.5 wt % of the MOF showed a CO2 permeability of ~140 barrer and a CO2/N2 selectivity of ~30, which are 89 and 38% higher than those of the pristine membrane. Gas permeation tests showed that the higher CO2/N2 selectivity of the MMMs was due to improved solubility selectivity and the higher CO2 permeability was a result of improved CO2 diffusivity and solubility coefficients. © 2019 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
