Systemic sclerosis (SSc) is characterized by excessive collagen deposition in the skin and internal organs. Activated fibroblasts are the key effector cells for the overproduction of type I collagen, which comprises the α1(I) and α2(I) chains encoded by COL1A1 and COL1A2, respectively. In this study, we examined the expression patterns of α1(I) and α2(I) collagen in SSc fibroblasts, as well as their co-regulation with each other. The relative expression ratio of COL1A1 to COL1A2 in SSc fibroblasts was significantly higher than that in control fibroblasts. The same result was observed for type I collagen protein levels, indicating that α2(I) collagen is more elevated than α2(I) collagen. Inhibition or overexpression of α1(I) collagen in control fibroblasts affected the α2(I) collagen levels, suggesting that α1(I) collagen might act as an upstream regulator of α2(I) collagen. The local injection of COL1A1 small interfering RNA in a bleomycin-induced SSc mouse model was found to attenuate skin fibrosis. Overall, our data indicate that α2(I) collagen is a potent regulator of type I collagen in SSc; further investigations of the overall regulatory mechanisms of type I collagen may help understand the aberrant collagen metabolism in SSc.  相似文献

The state-of-the-art median prediction scheme is widely used for predicting motion vectors (MVs) in recent video standards. By exploiting the spatial correlations among MVs, median prediction scheme predicts MV for current block from three neighboring blocks. When MV is obtained from motion estimation, MV difference (MVD) is calculated and then transmitted. This process for predicting MV and calculating MVD is known as MV coding process. For MV coding, the performance depends on how efficient both the spatial and the temporal correlations among MVs are being exploited. Median prediction scheme applies a sophisticated way including some special rules to exploit the spatial correlations, however the temporal correlations among successive MVs are not exploited. In this paper, a new algorithm named MV pattern matching (MV-PM) exploiting both the spatial and temporal correlations is proposed. Various kinds of experimental results show that the proposed MV-PM algorithm outperforms the median prediction and the other related prediction schemes.  相似文献

A new chemical sensing system using an electrical oscillator has been developed. This sensing system measures the electrical ‘non-linearity’ at the surface of an electrode immersed in a test solution: a sinusoidal voltage is applied to the electrode and the higher harmonics of the output current are obtained by Fourier transformation. This sensing system has been used to detect and quantify surfactant molecules in solutions. The relative intensity P2/P1 of the peaks of the second (P2) and first (P1) harmonics in the output current was found to be linearly correlated with the logarithms of the concentrations of cationic surfactants such as cetylpyridium bromide (CPB) and cetyl-N,N,N-trimethylammonium bromide (CTAB), but not with those of the anionic surfactant sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) or the neutral surfactant Triton X-100. The reproducibility of this sensing system was shown to be excellent.  相似文献

The locations of process-induced defects in hydrogenated amorphous silicon thin-film transistors (a-Si:H TFTs), which are used as elements of active-matrix liquid crystal displays, were investigated by combining focused ion beam techniques with cross-sectional transmission electron microscopy (X-TEM). The FIB technique is applied to TFT failure analysis problems, which require considerable localised etching without inducing mechanical stress or damage at fragile failure locations. We demonstrate the manner in which these techniques are used to characterise TFT defects such as pinholes and portions of the multilayer damaged by mechanical stress. A dramatic improvement brought about by the FIB technique is the increase in temporal efficiency of sample preparations. X-TEM observations also lead to identification of the fault and analysis of its cause, which in turn lead to a marked yield improvement.  相似文献

The system architectures, which allow a high performance fully balanced (FB) system based on ordinary/modified single-ended opamps to be implemented, are investigated and the basic and general requirements are formulated. Two new methods of an FB analog system design, which contribute towards achieving both a high performance IC system implementation and a great reduction of the design time are presented. It is shown that a single-ended system based on any type of opamp (rail-to-rail, constant g m , etc.), realized in any technology (CMOS, bipolar, BiCMOS, GaAs), can be easily and effectively converted to its FB counterpart in a very practical way. Using the proposed rules, any FB system implementation with opamps (data converter, modulator, filter, etc.) requires only a single-ended system version design and the drawbacks related to a conventional FB system design are avoided. The principles of the design are pointed out and they are verified by experimental results.  相似文献

Semiconducting π-conjugated polymers are the most promising candidates for flexible electronics owing to their facile processability and mechanical robustness; however, achieving steep and stable switching operations in polymer thin-film transistors (TFTs) remains a serious challenge. Herein, it is shown that whole optimizations for eliminating interfacial carrier traps throughout the conductive path are necessary in achieving TFTs showing both exceptionally sharp switching and bias-stress-free characteristics. Inverted-coplanar-type TFTs composed of a highly lyophobic amorphous perfluoropolymer gate–dielectric interfaced with a push-coated semiconducting polymer layer are manufactured. The use of the dielectric allows the establishment of bias-stress-free characteristics with minimized contact resistance. Additionally, fairly sharp on/off switching TFTs with the smallest normalized subthreshold swing can be obtained by utilizing a particular donor–acceptor copolymer that involves a self-passivation mechanism working to achieve a trap-minimized interface. These findings have opened a way for low-power and robust device operations in polymer-based flexible electronics.  相似文献

Protein affinity reagents (e.g., antibodies) are often used for basic research, diagnostics, separations, and disease therapy. Although a lot of “synthetic” protein affinity reagents have been developed as a cost-effective alternative to antibodies, their low biocompatibility is a considerable problem for clinical application. Lipid nanoparticles (LNP) represent a highly biocompatible drug delivery agent. However, little has been reported that LNP itself works as a protein affinity reagent in living animals. Here, LNP is engineered for binding to and neutralizing a target toxic peptide in living animals by multifunctionalization with amino acid derivatives. Multifunctionalized LNP (MF-LNP) is prepared using amino acid derivative-conjugated lipids. Optimized MF-LNP exhibits nanomolar affinity to the target toxic peptide and inhibits toxic peptide-dependent hemolysis and cytotoxicity. In addition, MF-LNP captures and neutralizes the toxic peptide after intravenous injection in the bloodstream; in addition, MF-LNP does not release the toxic peptide in the accumulated organ. These results reveal the potential of using LNP as a highly biocompatible protein affinity reagent such as an antidote.  相似文献

This paper describes the impacts of mechanical stress on vertical power devices. The stress dependence of the DC characteristics of trench insulated gate bipolar transistors (IGBTs) was measured. The experimental results could be reproduced by the device simulation, which included stress dependence models of the carrier mobility and the band gap. We found that the stress dependence of the on-state voltage mainly arose from the MOSFET portion of the IGBT. Using the device simulation, we estimated the effects of mechanical stress on the surge voltage and the saturation current, which give us the important information for designing a power module with higher ruggedness.  相似文献

This paper proposes a power integrity control technique for dynamically controlling power supply voltage fluctuations for a device under test (DUT), and demonstrates its effectiveness for eliminating the overkills/underkills due to the difference of power supply impedance between an automatic test equipment (ATE) and a practical operating environment of the DUT. The proposed method injects compensation currents into the power supply nodes on the ATE system in a feed-forward manner such that the ATE power supply waveform matches with the one on the customer’s operating environment of the DUT. A method for calculating the compensation current is also described. Experimental results show that the proposed method can emulate the power supply voltage waveform under a customer’s operating condition and eliminate 95 % of overkills/underkills in the maximum operating frequency testing with 105 real silicon devices. Limitations and applications of the proposed method are also discussed.  相似文献
