This report describes a 38-year-old man with massive gastrointestinal bleeding from jejunal varices. He had been previously diagnosed to have idiopathic portal hypertension and esophageal varices, and had undergone an esophageal transection 8 years earlier. The pre-operative diagnosis was a suspected hemorrhage from the small intestine as visualized by 99mTc-HSAD scintigraphy (technetium 99m-labeled human serum albumin D-type) and was not considered to be repeated massive lower GI tract bleeding. An exploratory laparotomy was performed, and intra-operative endoscopy revealed active bleeding from the jejunal varices. A partial resection of the small intestine resulted in a complete resolution of the bleeding. A review of the literature thereafter disclosed twelve previously reported cases of jejunal variceal bleeding. 相似文献

Cloning and characterization of an n-alkane-inducible cytochrome P450 gene essential for n-decane assimilation by Yarrowia lipolytica 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
A gene encoding cytochrome P450 involved in n-alkane utilization was cloned from an n-alkane assimilating yeast, Yarrowia lipolytica CX161-1B. The RT-PCR was performed on the mRNA prepared from the cells grown on n-alkane as a template using degenerated PCR primers designed for the conserved amino acid sequences of the CYP52 family. The RT-PCR amplified fragment was then used as a probe to isolate genes coding for P450 of the CYP52 family from the genomic DNA library of the strain CX161-1B. The nucleotide sequence of one of the positive clones was determined. An open reading frame which had the same nucleotide sequence as the RT-PCR-amplified fragment was identified. It was of 523 amino acid residues, 60.2 kDa in molecular mass, and had 30-45% sequence identity with the other members of the CYP52 family of Candida species so far analysed. The expression of the P450 gene that was named as YlALK1 was induced by n-tetradecane and repressed by glycerol. A YlALK1 gene disruptant did not grow well on n-decane, but grew on longer-chain n-alkanes such as hexadecane as a sole carbon source. Introduction of YlALK1 on a plasmid to the disruptant restored the decane assimilation. These results suggest that the YlALK1 gene product is the major P450A1k to metabolize short-chain n-alkanes such as decane and dodecane in Y. lipolytica. 相似文献

The excitable gap of a reentrant circuit has both temporal (time during the cycle length that the circuit is excitable) and spatial (length of the circuit that is excitable at a given time) properties. We determined the temporal and spatial properties of the excitable gap in reentrant circuits caused by nonuniform anisotropy. Myocardial infarction was produced in canine hearts by ligation of the left anterior descending coronary artery. Four days later, reentrant circuits were mapped in the epicardial border zone of the infarcts with a multielectrode array during sustained ventricular tachycardia induced by programmed stimulation. During tachycardia, premature impulses were initiated by stimulation at sites around and in the reentrant circuits, and their conduction characteristics in the circuit were mapped. All circuits had a temporal excitable gap in at least part of the circuit, which allowed premature impulses to enter the circuit. Completely and partially excitable segments of the temporal gap were identified by measuring conduction velocity of the premature impulses; conduction was equal to the native reentrant wave front in completely excitable regions and slower than the reentrant wave front in partially excitable regions. In some circuits, a temporal gap existed throughout the circuit, permitting the entire circuit to be reset over a range of premature coupling intervals, although the size of the gap varied at different sites. In other circuits, the gap became so small at local sites that even though premature impulses could enter the circuit, the circuit could not be reset. Premature impulses could terminate reentry in circuits that could be reset or not. We also found a significant spatial gap, which was identified by determining the distance between the head of the circulating wave front, which could be located on the activation map, and its tail, which was the site most distal from the head as located by the site of entry of the premature wave front into the circuit. The spatial gap could also vary in different parts of the circuit. Therefore, nonuniform anisotropic reentrant circuits have both a temporal and spatial excitable gap with fully and partially excitable components that change in different parts of the circuit. 相似文献

Positive and negative hydrogen ions are produced by plasma-assisted catalytic ionization using a porous nickel plate, where the irradiation current density and energy of positive ions produced by discharge to the porous plate are controlled. The ion energy distributions are analyzed from the properties of current densities of positive and negative ions extracted from the porous surface. Positive ions passing through fine pores of the porous plate and positive and negative ions produced on the porous surface are observed. The flow boiling heat transfer in microchannels have become important issue because it is extremely high-performance heat exchanger for electronic devices. For a detailed study on flow boiling heat transfer in a microtube, we have used a transparent heated microtube, which is coated with a thin gold film on its inner wall. The gold film is used as a resistance thermometer to directly evaluate the inner wall temperature averaged over the entire temperature measurement length. At the same time, the transparency of the film enables the observation of fluid behavior. Flow boiling experiments have been carried out using the microtube under the following conditions; mass velocity of 105 kg/m2 s, tube diameter of 1 mm, heat flux in the range of 10 ~ 380 kW/m2 s, and the test fluid used is ionized water. Under low heat flux conditions, the fluctuations in the inner wall temperature and mass velocity are closely related; the frequency of these fluctuations is the same. However, the fluctuations in the inner wall temperature and heat transfer coefficient are found to be independent of the fluctuation in the mass velocity under high heat flux conditions. 相似文献

We have performed photoluminescence (PL) measurements on magnetic semiconductor GaAs:Er,O under pulsed magnetic fields up to 60 T at 4.2 K. We have succeeded in observing the Zeeman effect of the 4 I 13/2→4 I 15/2 PL transition of the Er3+ in the high magnetic field region. The effective g-factor of the dominant PL transition is estimated to be g eff=1.54±0.04. This value is in reasonable agreement with the theoretical value based on the crystal field theory. 相似文献
