This study develops and validates the concept of Data Analytics Competency as a five multidimensional formative index (i.e., data quality, bigness of data, analytical skills, domain knowledge, and tools sophistication) and empirically examines its impact on firm decision making performance (i.e., decision quality and decision efficiency). The findings based on an empirical analysis of survey data from 151 Information Technology managers and data analysts demonstrate a large, significant, positive relationship between data analytics competency and firm decision making performance. The results reveal that all dimensions of data analytics competency significantly improve decision quality. Furthermore, interestingly, all dimensions, except bigness of data, significantly increase decision efficiency. This is the first known empirical study to conceptualize, operationalize and validate the concept of data analytics competency and to study its impact on decision making performance. The validity of the data analytics competency construct as conceived and operationalized, suggests the potential for future research evaluating its relationships with possible antecedents and consequences. For practitioners, the results provide important guidelines for increasing firm decision making performance through the use of data analytics.  相似文献

Micro particle shadow velocimetry is used to study the flow of water through microcircular sudden expansions of ratios e = 1.51 and e = 1.96 for inlet Reynolds numbers Re d < 120. Such flows give rise to annular vortices, trapped downstream of the expansions. The dependency of the vortex length on the Reynolds number Re d and the expansion ratio e is experimentally investigated in this study. Additionally, the shape of the axisymmetric annular vortex is quantified based on the visualization results. These measurements favorably follow the trends reported for larger scales in the literature. Redevelopment of the confined jet to the fully developed Poiseuille flow downstream of the expansion is also studied quantitatively. Furthermore, the experimentally resolved velocities are used to calculate high resolution static pressure gradient distributions along the channel walls. These measurements are then integrated into the axisymmetric momentum and energy balance equations, for the flow downstream of the expansion, to obtain the irreversible pressure drop in this geometry. As expected, the measured pressure drop coefficients for the range of Reynolds numbers studied here do not match the predictions of the available empirical correlations, which are commonly based turbulent flow studies. However, these results are in excellent agreement with previous numerical calculations. The pressure drop coefficient is found to strongly depend on the inlet Reynolds number for Re d < 50. Although no length-scale effect is observed for the range of channel diameters studied here, for Reynolds numbers Re d < 50, which are typical in microchannel applications, complex nonlinear trends in the flow dynamics and pressure drop measurements are discovered and discussed in this work.  相似文献

The overlap concentration of poly(N-vinylcaprolactam)s (PVCLs) of low molecular weights was studied with dynamic and static methods (with viscosity and refractive-index measurements) at three temperatures (25, 30, and 35°C). This concentration, determined by viscometry, was lower than the overlap concentration determined by refractometry. Also, the influence of the temperature and molecular weight on the viscosity and refractive index was investigated, and the opposite effect of the temperature on the viscosity and refractive index of PVCL solutions was observed. The experimental overlap concentration values were compared with those calculated with the Rao, Huggins, and Fuoss equations. Indoor air quality (IAQ) in classrooms has a significant impact on children's academic performance, health, and well-being; therefore, understanding children's perception of IAQ is vital. This study investigates how children's perception of IAQ is affected by environmental variables and thermal sensation. In total, 29 naturally ventilated classrooms in eight UK primary schools were selected and 805 children were surveyed during non-heating and heating seasons. Results show that air sensation votes (ASVs) are more correlated to CO2 levels than to operative temperatures (Top) during non-heating seasons and more correlated to Top than CO2 levels during heating seasons. The impact of Top on ASVs decreases with an increase in CO2 levels, and the effect of CO2 levels on ASVs decreases with increase in Top. The most favorable ASVs are given when children feel “cool” and have “as it is” preference. By keeping CO2 < 1000 ppm and Top within children's thermal comfort band, ASVs are improved by 43%. The study recommends that standards should consider the impact of both temperature and CO2 levels on perceived IAQ. Perception of IAQ also affects children's overall comfort and tiredness levels; however, this influence is more significant on tiredness level than that on overall comfort level.  相似文献

Solvent extraction(SX) of rubidium(Rb) from leaching filtrate of gold waste(GW) in Mouteh Processing Plant by 18-crown-6(18C6) was studied. High potential of new column flotoextraction(CFE) method in extraction of Rb from dilute solutions was also demonstrated. First, the factors affecting SX of Rb from a synthetic rubidium sulfate solution(containing 100 mg·L~(-1)Rb) were identified.0.05 mol·L~(-1)18C6 in kerosene, 0.02 mol·L~(-1) picric acid in aqueous phase, aqueous to organic(A/O) ratio of 1, p H7 and mixing time of 15 min are the optimum values for affective factors. The three-stage precipitation with sodium carbonate, p H adjustment with sulfuric acid and two-stage evaporation and crystallization were conducted to purify the leaching from impurities such as Fe, Al, Mn, Ca and especially competing cations of K and Na. Almost complete extraction of Rb and K from final filtrate containing 0.08 mol·L~(-1)picric acid was performed using 0.2 mol·L~(-1)18C6 in kerosene. The Rb and K strippings of 99.12 % and 9.93 %, respectively, are obtained with 2 mol·L~(-1)nitric acid with A/O ratio of 2. Finally, the performance comparison of the CFE and SX methods in similar conditionsshows increased extraction of K and Rb by 16 % and 5 %,respectively, using CFE method.  相似文献

(1) The cardio-reno-metabolic benefits of the SGLT2 inhibitors canagliflozin (cana), dapagliflozin (dapa), ertugliflozin (ertu), and empagliflozin (empa) have been demonstrated, but it remains unclear whether they exert different off-target effects influencing clinical profiles. (2) We aimed to investigate the effects of SGLT2 inhibitors on mitochondrial function, cellular glucose-uptake (GU), and metabolic pathways in human-umbilical-vein endothelial cells (HUVECs). (3) At 100 µM (supra-pharmacological concentration), cana decreased ECAR by 45% and inhibited GU (IC5o: 14 µM). At 100 µM and 10 µM (pharmacological concentration), cana increased the ADP/ATP ratio, whereas dapa and ertu (3, 10 µM, about 10× the pharmacological concentration) showed no effect. Cana (100 µM) decreased the oxygen consumption rate (OCR) by 60%, while dapa decreased it by 7%, and ertu and empa (all 100 µM) had no significant effect. Cana (100 µM) inhibited GLUT1, but did not significantly affect GLUTs’ expression levels. Cana (100 µM) treatment reduced glycolysis, elevated the amino acids supplying the tricarboxylic-acid cycle, and significantly increased purine/pyrimidine-pathway metabolites, in contrast to dapa (3 µM) and ertu (10 µM). (4) The results confirmed cana´s inhibition of mitochondrial activity and GU at supra-pharmacological and pharmacological concentrations, whereas the dapa, ertu, and empa did not show effects even at supra-pharmacological concentrations. At supra-pharmacological concentrations, cana (but not dapa or ertu) affected multiple cellular pathways and inhibited GLUT1.  相似文献

Architected materials with nano/microscale orders can provide superior mechanical properties; however, reproducing such levels of ordering in complex structures has remained challenging. Inspired by Bouligand structures in nature, here, 3D printing of complex geometries with guided long-order radially twisted chiral hierarchy, using cellulose nanocrystals (CNC)-based inks is presented. Detailed rheological measurements, in situ flow analysis, polarized optical microscopy (POM), and director field analysis are employed to evaluate the chiral assembly over the printing process. It is demonstrated that shear flow forces inside the 3D printer's nozzle orient individual CNC particles forming a pseudo-nematic phase that relaxes to uniformly aligned concentric chiral nematic structures after the flow cessation. Acrylamide, a photo-curable monomer, is incorporated to arrest the concentric chiral arrangements within the printed filaments. The time series POM snapshots show that adding the photo-curable monomer at the optimized concentrations does not interfere with chiral self-assemblies and instead increases the chiral relaxation rate. Due to the liquid-like nature of the as-printed inks, optimized Carbopol microgels are used to support printed filaments before photo-polymerization. By paving the path towards developing bio-inspired materials with nanoscale hierarchies in larger-scale printed constructs, this biomimetic approach expands 3D printing materials beyond what has been realized so far.  相似文献
