The anti-metastatic effect of Z-100, an immunomodulatory arabinomannan extracted from Mycobacterium tuberculosis, was investigated in mice bearing B16 melanoma cells. Treatment of BF10 mice implanted with high metastatic B16F10 melanoma cells with a 10 mg/kg dose of Z-100 resulted in the reduction of experimental pulmonary metastasis as compared with that of BF10 mice treated with saline. The number of pulmonary metastatic colonies in BF1 mice (mice implanted with low metastatic B16F1 melanoma cells) was greatly increased after the inoculation of CD4+ CD11b+ CD281+ TCR alphabeta+ type 2 T cells (F10-Th2 cells) derived from BF10 mice, while only a few metastatic colonies were demonstrated in lungs of BF1 mice inoculated with naive CD4+ T cells. However, the numbers of metastatic colonies in BF1 mice were not increased when they were inoculated with the F10-Th2 cell fraction derived from Z-100-treated BF10 mice and the generation of F10-Th2 cells in BF10 mice was effectively suppressed by the Z-100 treatment. These results suggest that Z-100 inhibits pulmonary metastasis of B16 melanoma through the regulation of tumor-associated Th2 cells, which are a key cell in the acceleration of tumor metastasis.  相似文献

Electron device degradation, although not directly accounted for, represents a key issue in microwave circuit design. This is especially true when the particular applications involved (e.g., satellite, military, consumer) do not allow or strongly discourage any kind of maintenance. As a matter of fact, in order to account for device degradation in circuit design, a suitable electron device model is needed which is able to predict the performance degradation as a function of the actual electrical regime involved in the device operation. Such a kind of model is not available in literature. In this paper, quantitative results are provided for device degradation indicators which correlate DC and RF stress experiments. These results can be considered an important step toward the definition of a nonlinear model accounting for device degradation.  相似文献

This paper presents a mixed-signal system-on-chip (SOC) for sensing capacitance variations, enabling the creation of pressure-sensitive fabric. The chip is designed to sit in the corner of a smart fabric such as elastic foam overlaid with a matrix of conductive threads. When pressure is applied to the matrix, an image is created from measuring the differences in capacitance among the rows and columns of fibers patterned on the two opposite sides of the elastic substrate. The SOC approach provides the flexibility to accommodate for different fabric sizes and to perform image enhancement and on-chip data processing. The chip has been designed in a 0.35-/spl mu/m five-metal one-poly CMOS process working up to 40 MHz at 3.3 V of power supply, in a fully reconfigurable arrangement of 128 I/O lines. The aim of this study was to assess whether independent component analysis (ICA) could be valuable to remove power line noise, cardiac, and ocular artifacts from magnetoencephalogram (MEG) background activity. The MEGs were recorded from 11 subjects with a 148-channel whole-head magnetometer. We used a statistical criterion to estimate the number of independent components. Then, a robust ICA algorithm decomposed the MEG epochs and several methods were applied to detect those artifacts. The whole process had been previously tested on synthetic data. We found that the line noise components could be easily detected by their frequency spectrum. In addition, the ocular artifacts could be identified by their frequency characteristics and scalp topography. Moreover, the cardiac artifact was better recognized by its skewness value than by its kurtosis one. Finally, the MEG signals were compared before and after artifact rejection to evaluate our method.  相似文献

In this paper we present an asynchronous finite-state machine digital controller co-integrated with an on-chip non-inverting buck-boost power converter with dynamic signal-tracking capabilities. The mostly-digital controller functionally implements a non-PWM zone-wise control law through asynchronous circuitry, thus exhibiting self-timed minimum latency and ultra low power operation due to gate switching activity. Experimental results on a 0.35 μm CMOS technology demonstrate an efficiency up to 80 % with a switching frequency of 2.86 MHz.  相似文献

This work describes the use of focused-ion-beam for the fabrication of metallic nanoconstrictions on a Fe thin film with in situ monitoring of the structure’s resistance. With this approach the sequential FIB steps that are used for the gradual narrowing of the nanoconstriction are observed as changes in the measured resistance, thus providing very good control of the milling process. The FIB patterning enables precise termination of the process just before the crossover between the metallic and tunneling regimes near the conductance quantum value G0 (G0 = 2e2/h). Compared to previous approaches to create nanoconstrictions with focused-ion-beam, this new technique determines precisely the current direction and minimizes Ga damage at the nanoconstriction.  相似文献

Silicon nanowires have been implemented in microfabricated structures to develop planar thermoelectric microgenerators (??TEGs) monolithically integrated in silicon to convert heat flow from thermal gradients naturally present in the environment into electrical energy. The compatibility of typical microfabrication technologies and the vapor?Cliquid?Csolid (VLS) mechanism employed for silicon nanowire growth has been evaluated. Low-thermal-mass suspended structures have been designed, simulated, and microfabricated on silicon-on-insulator substrates to passively generate thermal gradients and operate as microgenerators using silicon nanowires as thermoelectric material. Both electrical measurements to evaluate the connectivity of the nanowires and thermoreflectance imaging to determine the heat transfer along the device have been employed.  相似文献
