Asthma oxidative stress disturbances seem to enable supplementary proinflammatory pathways, thus contributing to disease development and severity. The current study analyzed the impact of two types of oral vitamin D (VD) supplementation regimens on the redox balance using a murine model of acute ovalbumin-induced (OVA-induced) asthmatic inflammation. The experimental prevention group received a long-term daily dose of 50 µg/kg (total dose of 1300 µg/kg), whereas the rescue group underwent a short-term daily dose of 100 µg/kg (total dose of 400 µg/kg). The following oxidative stress parameters were analyzed in serum, bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) and lung tissue homogenate (LTH): total oxidative status, total antioxidant response, oxidative stress index, malondialdehyde and total thiols. Results showed that VD significantly reduced oxidative forces and increased the antioxidant capacity in the serum and LTH of treated mice. There was no statistically significant difference between the two types of VD supplementation. VD also exhibited an anti-inflammatory effect in all treated mice, reducing nitric oxide formation in serum and the expression of nuclear factor kappa B p65 in the lung. In conclusion, VD supplementation seems to exhibit a protective role in oxidative stress processes related to OVA-induced acute airway inflammation.  相似文献

The steady mixed convection boundary layer flow over a vertical impermeable surface embedded in a porous medium when the viscosity of the fluid varies inversely as a linear function of the temperature is studied. Both cases of assisting and opposing flows are considered. The transformed boundary layer equations are solved numerically by a finite difference method. Numerical results for the flow and heat transfer characteristics are obtained for various values of the mixed convection parameter ε and the variable viscosity parameter θe. It has been found that in the opposing flow case, dual solutions exist and boundary separation occurs.  相似文献

The scaling behavior of the effective activation energy U(T, H) of epitaxial oriented Bi2Sr2Ca1–x Er x Cu2O8+d thin films with 0x0.10 has been studied as function of temperature and magnetic field. It has been found that the activation energy scales as U(H, T)=U 0(1–t)m H n with exponent m=1.20±0.03 and n=–1/2. The field and temperature dependence of the activation energy, as well as its overall magnitude, is consistent with a model in which U(T, H) arises from plastic deformations of viscous flux liquid above the vortex-glass transition temperature.  相似文献

Large strain to rupture behavior is essential, for refractory materials, to improve their thermal shock resistance. The non-linear comportment under loading of specific developed ceramics associated to their type of microstructure (micro-cracked) leads to the possibility to increase their strain-to-rupture level. Aluminum titanate (AT: Al2TiO5) ceramics are one of these materials and are characterized by a mechanical behavior strongly dependent on their microstructure. Indeed, this behavior can vary from a fragile one to a large non-linear one according to the degree of microcracking present within the material. The paper here presented is devoted to the study of this nonlinear behavior thanks to four-points bending test associated with digital image correlation technique to determine kinematics fields. Results highlight the asymmetric character of the mechanical behavior of a microcracked aluminum titanate. A comparison between the Young moduli and fracture strength obtained using conventional and ones identified by digital image correlation will be done.  相似文献

In this paper, we investigate the robustness of a methodology to design fractional order PI controllers combined with Smith Predictors, for varying time delay processes. To overcome the drawback of possible instability associated with Smith Predictor control structures, mainly due to the changes in the time delay, the design focuses on ensuring robustness of the closed loop system against time delay uncertainties. The proposed method is based on time-domain performance specifications??more accessible to the process engineer, rather than the more abstract notions related to the frequency domain. A second advantage of the proposed method relies on additional robustness to plant uncertainties, achieved by maximizing open-loop gain margin. The convergence problems associated with optimization techniques, previously used in fractional order controller designs, are eliminated by an iterative procedure in computing the gain margin. The simulation example provided demonstrates the efficiency of the proposed method, in comparison to classical integer order PI controller.  相似文献

Colour is one of the major attributes that affect the consumer's perception. This paper presents a study regarding coloring properties of the natural, nontoxic dye extracted from fresh fruits of bilberries (Vaccinum myrtillus). Colours were measured in CIELAB system using a standard white specimen. The samples were different regarding their dye concentration. Experiments comprising more samples sets used three different illuminators. The hue, luminosity, and saturation are discussed. The phenomenon of dichroism was also studied.  相似文献
