The effect of a yoghurt supplement containing Bifidobacterium pseudocatenulatum G4 or Bifidobacterium longum BB536 on plasma lipids, lipid peroxidation and the faecal excretion of bile acids was examined in rats fed a cholesterol-enriched diet. After 8 weeks, the rats in the positive control (PC) group who were fed the cholesterol-enriched diet showed significant increases in plasma total cholesterol (TC), low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol, and malondialdehyde (MDA). However, groups fed a cholesterol-enriched diet supplemented with yoghurt containing B. pseudocatenulatum G4 or B. longum BB536 had significantly lower plasma TC, LDL-C, very-low-density lipoprotein (VLDL) cholesterol, and MDA than had the PC group after 8 weeks of treatment. In addition, faecal excretion of bile acids was markedly increased in the rats fed the yoghurt containing B. pseudocatenulatum G4 or B. longum BB536 as compared to the PC and NC groups.  相似文献

Vinyl ester/clay nanocomposites with 1, 3, and 5% nanoclay contents were prepared. X‐ray diffractography patterns and Scanning Electron micrographs showed that nanocomposites with the exfoliated structure were formed. Thermogravimetric analysis, water absorption test, and Tafel polarization method, respectively, revealed the improvements in thermal resistance, water barrier properties, and corrosion resistance properties of the samples with an increase in the amount of the incorporated nanoclay. Tensile tests showed that nanoclay also enhanced the mechanical properties of the polymer, so that the tensile strength of the samples with 5% nanoclay was more than 3 times higher than tensile strength of pure vinyl ester samples. Overall, the best properties were observed for the samples containing 5% nanoclay. Pure vinyl ester and nanocomposite with 5% nanoclay content were exposed to the electron beam radiation and their mechanical properties improved up to 500 kGy irradiation dose. Finally, pure vinyl ester and vinyl ester/nanoclay (5%) matrixes were reinforced with carbon fiber and the effect of electron beam irradiation on their mechanical properties was examined. The tensile strength and the modulus of the samples initially increased after exposure to the radiation doses up to 500 kGy and then a decrease was observed as the irradiation dose rose to 1000 kGy. Due to their non-polluting nature and environment friendliness, Renewable Energies have gained great deal of attention and deserve a substantial body of both theoretical and empirical research. Amongst other factors, the low operational cost and simple maintenance procedures attributed the Oscillating Water Column (OWC) are perhaps the main reasons why this system is the most used concept for the ocean wave energy capture.In this paper, through extensive experimental research various geometrical designs of an OWC system is investigated and the optimized set up for the maximum energy harness is obtained.The initial chamber dimensions were 10 × 50 × 53 cm with the chamber being placed in an open channel with wave-simulating equipment with dimensions of 16 × 0.7 × .05 m. For various chamber geometries, with the aid of a air rotameter and a Pitot tube equipped with a digital manometer, the outlet air flow and velocity from the chamber was measured and registered.The measurements were then interpreted to provide design data for the optimal geometry of the chamber that may yield the maximum conversion of wave energy to useful energy.  相似文献

This paper proposes and optimizes a two-term cost function consisting of a sparseness term and a generalized v-fold cross-validation term by a new adaptive particle swarm optimization (APSO). APSO updates its parameters adaptively based on a dynamic feedback from the success rate of the each particle’s personal best. Since the proposed cost function is based on the choosing fewer numbers of support vectors, the complexity of SVM model is decreased while the accuracy remains in an acceptable range. Therefore, the testing time decreases and makes SVM more applicable for practical applications in real data sets. A comparative study on data sets of UCI database is performed between the proposed cost function and conventional cost function to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed cost function.

This paper presents a study of the propagation and mitigation of ground vibrations induced by high speed railways using 8 centrifuge tests. In the reported tests here, geofoam is used as a barrier in various locations and arrangements (single and double) to mitigate ground vibrations. The results show that the surface waves guide the propagation pattern of ground vibrations induced by high speed railways and also reveal that geofoam is a proper material for the mitigation of such ground vibrations. While the use of single geofoam barriers can reduce ground vibrations by up to 54.5%, their performance at low input frequencies are undesirable. Double geofoam barriers are used and tested in various locations to eliminate such inconvenient effects and improve the mitigation of ground vibrations. The results show that double geofoam barriers can mitigate the vibrations by about 14%–35% more than a single geofoam barrier and undesirable performances for the mentioned low input frequencies are also eliminated.  相似文献
