Diffusion bonding of Zircaloy-4 and Type 316-L stainless steel was carried out by coating the joining surfaces with Ti to minimize the interlayer effect. Bonding heat treatments were carried out in vacuum at 1000 °C for 4 h and 1050 °C for 1 h. The microstructure of the diffusion zone was investigated by scanning electron microscopy and the phases in the diffusion zone were analyzed by energy dispersive spectroscopy. It is observed that Ti coating at the interface produced a dendritic structure in the diffusion zone formed in the Zircaloy-4. The concentration of the dendrites increases with an increase in bonding temperature.  相似文献

Designing and synthesis of cost effective bulk metallic glasses (BMGs) has been of considerable interest during the last decade so that they can be made commercially viable. Among these, Zr-based BMGs have been reported extensively due to their attractive properties, An alloy having composition Zr65Cu18Ni9A18 was designed and synthesized using 2-3 N pure materials by Cu mould casting. The alloy was characterized by X- ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) and high temperature differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). Thermal parameters like supercooled liquid region △Tx, reduced glass transition temperature Trg, γ and δ parameters were evaluated. Mechanical properties like microhardness, nanohardness, elastic modulus and fracture strength were measured. The alloy showed wide supercooled liquid region of 129+1 K with improved thermal stability. The alloy has considerable fracture strength along with fair amount of ductility.  相似文献

Recent instrumental advances have enabled scanning electron microscopy using a field emission gun (FEG) to be combined with an ultra high vacuum specimen chamber. The resulting instrument, the UHV-FEG-SEM, allows high spatial resolution microstructural and micro-analytic information to be obtained reliably from clean surfaces for the first time. Such an instrument has been installed and developed at the University of Sussex. It incorporates SEM at ~5 nm resolution, scanning Auger microscopy at ~30 nm resolution, and various diffraction techniques, including RHEED and electron backscattering pattern (EBSP) techniques, at (lateral) resolutions which can approach 10 nm. The work function can also be measured microscopically as demonstrated in this paper. Combined with facilities for in situ cleaning and molecular beam deposition, these techniques represent a considerable improvement in our ability to study surface and near-surface phenomena on a microscopic scale. Examples of recent work on technique development, including work-function measurement and backscattering patterns, are described. Recent applications to metal and semiconductor systems are described, including the crystal growth of Ag on Si (111) and Mo (100), the composition profiles of GaAs lasers, and adsorbed Cs layers on tungsten.  相似文献

An integrated process, interlinked operation and interoperable communication network amongst operating agencies are critical for developing an effective disaster management supply chain. The traditional managerial problems observed across disaster management operations are: non-cooperation among members, disrupted chain of commands, misuse of relief items, lack of information sharing, mistrust and lack of coordination. This study aims to understand the issues affiliated with negative attitude towards disaster management operations using theory of cognitive dissonance. A qualitative investigation was undertaken across 64 districts in Bangladesh. Five constructs were examined for their influences on attitude and behavioural intention of members participating in government emergency supply chain for disaster management. The results indicate that administrative conflict, political biasness and professional growth have significant effects on attitude. Impact of insecurity is non-significant on attitude. This research offers substantial theoretical contribution to the cognitive dissonance theory in the context of disaster management supply chain.  相似文献

A transparent, high purity titanium dioxide thin film composed of densely packed nanometer sized grains has been successfully deposited on a glass substrate at 30°C from an aqueous solution of TiO2-HF with the addition of boric acid as a scavenger by liquid phase deposition technique. From X-ray diffraction measurement, the deposited film was found to be amorphous and turns crystalline at 500°C. The deposited film showed excellent adherence to the substrate and was characterized by homogeneous flat surface. TiO2 thin films can be used as a photocatalyst to clean up organohalides, a class of compound in pesticides that pollute the ground water. Photocatalytic degradation experiments show that indanthrene golden orange dye undergoes degradation efficiently in presence of TiO2 thin films by exposing its aqueous solution to ultraviolet light. The suitable surface structure and porosity increases the photocatalytic activity. It was also observed that hemin doped TiO2 thin films break up organohalides at a surprisingly high rate under visible light.  相似文献

An alloy having composition Fe73Si13B9Nb4Cu1 was synthesized by melt spinning to investigate the kinetics of crystallization. Techniques of differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Mössbauer spectroscopy were employed to characterize the phases produced due to annealing at various temperatures. High temperature DSC revealed two stage crystallization reactions. First stage, crystallization occurs at temperature around 514°C with the production of α-Fe (bcc) and Fe3Si phases. In the second stage, Fe2B and α-Fe (Si,Nb) phases were produced. Mössbauer results revealed the formation of Fe3Si, Fe13Si3 and Fe7Si1 in the first stage and Fe3Si, Fe13Si3, Fe2B and α-Fe (Si,Nb) phases in the second stage of crystallization. An abrupt change in average internal magnetic field was observed at 500°C. The maximum hardness value was found for the sample heat-treated at 500°C.  相似文献

Electrochemical (EC) quantification of 11-Mercaptoundecylferrocene (thiolated-ferrocene substrate, Fc-SH) onto gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) was carried out through cyclic voltammetric (CV) investigations in different base electrolyte aqueous media on glassy carbon (GC) electrode. The electrochemical data including peak current, peak potential values revealed the Fc-SH–AuNPs redox system to be adsorption controlled in terms of self assembled monolayers (SAMs). The electrochemically generated SAMs were found quite stable as these maintained the redox activity upto 3 months after repeated CV scans at 298 K. The overall output of this research can be utilized in two ways: application of electroactivity and stability of these SAMs in detection of biologically important molecules and also towards the development of EC biosensors.  相似文献

IL-8/MCP-1 act as neutrophil/monocyte chemoattractants, respectively. Oxidative stress emerges as a key player in the pathophysiology of obesity. However, it remains unclear whether the TNF-α/oxidative stress interplay can trigger IL-8/MCP-1 expression and, if so, by which mechanism(s). IL-8/MCP-1 adipose expression was detected in lean, overweight, and obese individuals, 15 each, using immunohistochemistry. To detect the role of reactive oxygen species (ROS)/TNF-α synergy as a chemokine driver, THP-1 cells were stimulated with TNF-α, with/without H2O2 or hypoxia. Target gene expression was measured by qRT-PCR, proteins by flow cytometry/confocal microscopy, ROS by DCFH-DA assay, and signaling pathways by immunoblotting. IL-8/MCP-1 adipose expression was significantly higher in obese/overweight. Furthermore, IL-8/MCP-1 mRNA/protein was amplified in monocytic cells following stimulation with TNF-α in the presence of H2O2 or hypoxia (p ˂ 0.0001). Synergistic chemokine upregulation was related to the ROS levels, while pre-treatments with NAC suppressed this chemokine elevation (p ≤ 0.01). The ROS/TNF-α crosstalk involved upregulation of CHOP, ERN1, HIF1A, and NF-κB/ERK-1,2 mediated signaling. In conclusion, IL-8/MCP-1 adipose expression is elevated in obesity. Mechanistically, ROS/TNF-α crosstalk may drive expression of these chemokines in monocytic cells by inducing ER stress, HIF1A stabilization, and signaling via NF-κB/ERK-1,2. NAC had inhibitory effect on oxidative stress-driven IL-8/MCP-1 expression, which may have therapeutic significance regarding meta-inflammation.  相似文献

Thermal oils are widely used as working fluids in the medium temperature heat transfer applications including concentrating solar thermal collectors. However, the weak thermal characteristics of these oils are major drawbacks in their successful application in the medium-high temperature solar collectors. Fortunately, the emergence of nanotechnology has provided the opportunity to alter thermo-physical properties of base fluids by adding small amount of sub-micron size solid particles possessing better properties. This paper presents an experimental investigation of thermophysical properties of an oil-based nanofluid to be used in the medium temperature solar collector for enhanced thermal energy transport. The colloidal suspensions were prepared by dispersing different weight fractions (0.25 wt.%, 0.5 wt.%, 0.75 wt.% and 1.0 wt.%) of Titania nanoparticles in Therminol-55 oil using two-step method. Shear mixing and high energy ultrasonication was employed to achieve uniform mixing and de-agglomeration of the nanoparticles in order to enhance the stability of the colloidal suspensions. Thermophysical properties of the nanofluids were determined as a function of nanoparticles concentrations in the temperature range of 25 °C–130 °C. The experimental results demonstrated substantial improvement in thermal conductivity of the nano-oils with an increase in nanoparticles loading which further enhanced at higher temperatures. Dynamic viscosity and effective density displayed a decreasing trend against rising temperature which indicate the effectiveness of these nanofluids for medium temperature heat supply. Nano-oils with superior thermal properties can improve the performance of medium temperature solar thermal collectors.  相似文献

A simple and effective electrochemical sensor was designed by the drop cast method for the detection of Diclofenac Sodium (DS), a widely used painkiller, by combining the significant catalytic property of multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs), excellent adsorption capacity and film forming ability of Chitosan and synergistic catalytic effect of Chitosan-copper complex. The characteristics of newly proposed composite (MWCNTs/CTS-Cu/GCE) were investigated by different techniques like Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) and Energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDX). The electrochemical performance of the newly modified composite was studied by using Cyclic voltammetry (CV), Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), Square wave voltammetry (SWV). Under the optimum conditions, the anodic peak current for Diclofenac sodium (DS) was linear and the range is between 0.3 and 200 μmol L?1 with the detection limit of 0.021 μmol L?1 at pH 4.0. Finally, this modified composite exhibit good selectivity, sensitivity and stability for the detection of Diclofenac sodium (DS) from the pharmaceutical dosage form and real samples.  相似文献
