Hydration occurring in the system Ca3 Al2 O6 –CaSO4 · 2H2 O–Ca(OH)2 –H2 O has been studied at different temperatures and it was found that the reactions are diffusion controlled. The kinetic data obeyed Jander's equation and the rate of reaction increased with increasing temperature. X-ray diffraction studies and calorimetric measurements show that when gypsum is consumed, ettringite is converted into monosulfate. The rate of this conversion also increased with the increasing temperature and decreased in the presence of citric acid. Spectroscopic studies showed that there was some interaction between citric acid and the cement and that the product of hydration is of colloidal nature. Zeta potential measurements show that retardation of Ca3 Al2 O6 hydration in the presence of gypsum and Ca(OH)2 is not due to SO2− 4 adsorption. Electrical conductivity and thermoelectric potential measurements of solid Ca3 Al2 O6 show that Ca3 Al2 O6 is an n -type semiconductor and contains defects. The retardation of Ca3 Al2 O6 may be due to poisoning of reaction sites by gypsum and Ca(OH)2. 相似文献

Two samples of naturally occurring pyrite were treated with acetyl acetone, silanes, humic acids, lignin-NaOH mixture, and oxalic acid. The corrosion rate of pyrite was observed to decrease significantly due to the surface treatment by the chemicals used in this study. Surface characterization methods indicate that phenyl triacetoxy silane forms a passive coating a few Angstroms thick on the pyrite, thus preventing its dissolution in 1M H2SO4. 相似文献

Cajanus trypsin inhibitor (CTI) and Cajanus trypsin-chymotrypsin inhibitor (CTCI) previously purified from cv TAT-10 were further characterised. The modification of the inhibitors revealed the presence of lysine at the trypsin reactive site in both CTI and CTCI. Modification of tyrosine at the reactive site of CTCI did not abolish chymotrypsin inhibition suggesting the presence of leucine or phenylalanine as reported in other chymotrypsin inhibitors. CTCI did not contain tryptophan. Dissociation constants for the inhibitors with bovine trypsin were in the region of 0.69 nmol (CTCI) and 0.029 nmol (CTI). Although the protease inhibitors lost their inhibitory activity on exposure to 2-mercaptoethanol they remained attached to the enzyme. The inhibitors were not very effective against the protease from Helicoverpa armigera which is a serious field pest of Cajanus. Dissociation constants for the inhibitors with the larval enzyme were in the region of 100 nmol. 相似文献

In this research work, an attempt was made to discriminate different grades of black crush-tear-curl (CTC) tea based upon their physical attributes such as color of brewed liquor, texture, size and shape of the tea granules obtained by machine vision technique. The principal component analysis (PCA) was applied over two types of data. First, tea samples with seven different quality grades but same mechanical grading and second, samples with same quality grade but nine different mechanical grades (Brokens, Fannings and Dust) were considered for analysis, respectively. The results of PCA showed that best discrimination (100%) in both types of data was given by color attributes only. Correlations among tea samples and physical attributes were determined. Based upon these results it may be concluded that color only attributes are the most significant and sufficient for quantification of tea quality whereas other physical attributes contribute so little to quality estimation that they may be ignored. 相似文献

In the present work, the effect of altitudinal variations on the total phenol, flavonoid, and antioxidant potential of seeds
and hull of Tartar buckwheat collected from 15 different locations of Western Himalaya has been investigated. Methanolic and
acetonic extracts of seed and hull powder showed significantly increasing amounts of total polyphenol content, and antioxidant
potential with rising altitude. Methanolic extract of seed and hull powder were found to have significantly greater polyphenol,
and antioxidant potential as compared to acetonic extract. The methanolic seed extract of Inderdhara (3,133 m) showed the
maximum total phenolic content 1,651 μg gallic acid equivalent/50 mg of dry weight. The methanolic seed extract of Inderdhara
showed the maximum antioxidant activity (77.29±1.2%) and antiradical activity (55.5±0.5%) also. The results of this study
exhibited good correlation with total polyphenol and antioxidant potential in all the samples followed by the increasing tendency

Significant variations were observed in the concentration of pigments (10·0–17·0%, moisture-free basis) and flavour components during different post-harvest processing conditions of saffron (stigmas ex Crocus sativus L). The crocin pigments concentration was highest (15–17%) in the saffron samples dried between 35°C and 50°C either in a solar dryer or in an oven dryer and this also resulted in considerable reduction of normal drying time. Under these conditions the main flavouring component, safranal, was at its peak value of 60% in the oil in almost all the samples except the vacuum oven dried samples which interestingly contained 4-β-hydroxysafranal in major amounts. Studies indicated that 4-β-hydroxysafranal may be an intermediate in the formation of safranal. It was observed that prolonged storage affected the pigments and flavour concentration to a great extent, but proper packaging and storage with 5% moisture in the saffron reduced the deterioration, thereby increasing the shelflife of the product. 相似文献

The article describes a novel approach to estimate and calibrate column water vapour (CWV), a key parameter for atmospheric correction of remote-sensing data. CWV is spatially and temporally variable, and image-based methods are used for its inference. This inference, however, is affected by methodological and numeric limitations, which likely propagate to reflectance estimates. In this article, a method is proposed to estimate CWV iteratively from target surface reflectances. The method is free from assumptions for at sensor radiance-based CWV estimation methods. We consider two cases: (a) CWV is incorrectly estimated in a processing chain and (b) CWV is not estimated in a processing chain. To solve (a) we use the incorrect estimations as initial values to the proposed method during calibration. In (b), CWV is estimated without initial information. Next, we combined the two scenarios, resulting in a generic method to calibrate and estimate CWV. We utilized the hyperspectral mapper (HyMap) and airborne prism experiment (APEX) instruments for the synthetic and real data experiments, respectively. Noise levels were added to the synthetic data to simulate real imaging conditions. The real data used in this research are cloud-free scenes acquired from the airborne campaigns. For performance assessment, we compared the proposed method with two state-of-the-art methods. Our method performed better as it minimizes the absolute error close to zero, only within 8–10 iterations. It thus suits existing operational chains where the number of iterations is considerable. Human joints have respective ranges of motion and joint forces corresponding to each kind of joint; this necessitates considerations of the characteristics of human joints to fabricate wearable strain sensors conformable to the human body, and capable of precisely monitoring complex motions of the human body. In the present study, the “all textile‐based highly stretchable structure” that is capable of precisely sensing motions (folding and rotation) of the human joints (finger, wrist, elbow, spine, and knee) is fabricated by optimizing patterns (straight, blind, and zigzag) of conductive yarns employed as the conductive part of the strain sensor, and several textile substrates (braided elastic fabric, knit fabric, and woven fabric), having preferable elasticity and conformability employed for the fabrication of strain sensors suitable for human joints. In particular, the technology, enabling the prestraining of textile substrate, is exploited to fabricate a strain sensor that is capable of outputting selective signals corresponding to the folding motion of the spinal joint over a predetermined angle of motion, and the gait pattern of the wearer of the sensor, attached to his or her knee joint doing folding and rotational motions, is analyzed. 相似文献

A method is described for the estimation of individual polyphenols of tea leaf. Polyphenols separated by two-way paper chromatography of a methanolic extract of the material were located under ultra-violet light. The excised spots were eluted with water and estimated from extinctions at 275 nm. Three of the polyphenols, (?)-epigallocatechin gallate, (?)-epigallocatechin and (?)-epicatechin gallate, which comprise 10-19% of the dry matter of tea shoots from Assam, are partly consumed during the manufacture of black tea. Seasonal variation in the polyphenolic content of some jats and clones grown in North East India are described. The phenolic content of the tea shoots was higher during rains. Changes in the phenolic pattern during the growth and development of tea flower, fruit and seed are described. Organs of tea, such as sepals, petals and pericarp with closer morphological affinities to the leaf, showed a greater degree of similarity in their phenolic pattern compared with other organs such as stigma, style, carpel, anther and testa.
