Prereferral intervention programs represent a consultation-based approach for providing behavioral and/or instructional support to students before considering their eligibility for special class placement. Although research concerning the initial success of these programs has been promising, more information is needed relating program process variables to student outcomes in addition to effective procedures for promoting the adoption of these programs over time. This article describes organizational change procedures that were used to promote the acceptability of a prereferral intervention program at 4 pilot schools. Ss were school-based intervention team members (teachers, teaching assistants, school psychologists, and staff development facilitators) at each school. This article presents evaluation data concerning the program's acceptability to team members and participating teachers, integrity of the consultative process, and effect on numbers of children referred to special education. The implications of these results for school psychologists attempting to promote the acceptability and long-term adoption of prereferral intervention programs are discussed. Our objective is spoken-language classification for helpdesk call routing using a scanning understanding and intelligent-system
techniques. In particular, we examine simple recurrent networks, support-vector machines and finite-state transducers for
their potential in this spoken-language-classification task and we describe an approach to classification of recorded operator-assistance
telephone utterances. The main contribution of the paper is a comparison of a variety of techniques in the domain of call
routing. Support-vector machines and transducers are shown to have some potential for spoken-language classification, but
the performance of the neural networks indicates that a simple recurrent network performs best for helpdesk call routing.
Sheila Garfield received a BSc (Hons) in computing from the University of Sunderland in 2000 where, as part of her programme of study, she
completed a project associated with aphasic language processing. She received her PhD from the same university, in 2004, for
a programme of work connected with hybrid intelligent systems and spoken-language processing. In her PhD thesis, she collaborated
with British Telecom and suggested a novel hybrid system for call routing. Her research interests are natural language processing,
hybrid systems, intelligent systems.
Stefan Wermter holds the Chair in Intelligent Systems and is leading the Intelligent Systems Division at the University of Sunderland, UK.
His research interests are intelligent systems, neural networks, cognitive neuroscience, hybrid systems, language processing
and learning robots. He has a diploma from the University of Dortmund, Germany, an MSc from the University of Massachusetts,
USA, and a PhD in habilitation from the University of Hamburg, Germany, all in Computer Science. He was a Research Scientist
at Berkeley, CA, before joining the University of Sunderland. Professor Wermter has written edited, or contributed to 8 books

When integrating information from multiple websites, the same data objects can exist in inconsistent text formats across sites, making it difficult to identify matching objects using exact text match. We have developed an object identification system called Active Atlas, which compares the objects’ shared attributes in order to identify matching objects. Certain attributes are more important for deciding if a mapping should exist between two objects. Previous methods of object identification have required manual construction of object identification rules or mapping rules for determining the mappings between objects. This manual process is time consuming and error-prone. In our approach. Active Atlas learns to tailor mapping rules, through limited user input, to a specific application domain. The experimental results demonstrate that we achieve higher accuracy and require less user involvement than previous methods across various application domains. 相似文献

This study determined how youth (ages 17-21) and their parents jointly constructed and acted on goals and strategies pertinent to the transition to adulthood. Twenty parent-youth dyads were followed over an 8-month period using the qualitative action-project method. Data included their joint conversations, video recall of internal processes, self-monitoring logs, and researcher telephone monitoring. Detailed and repeated analysis of elements, functional steps, and goals resulted in the identification of an explicit joint project for each dyad that the participants saw as pertinent to the transition to adulthood. These projects referred broadly to the youth development of identity and social inclusion in the adult world and included the specific projects of career promotion, governance transfer, and parent-youth relational processes. The findings illustrate the complexity of the transition-to-adulthood process as well as its joint construction by parent and youth.
