The incorporation of Lactobacillus acidophilus, which has a low acid tolerance, into the inner-water phase of water-in-oil-in-water (W/O/W) emulsion improved the bacterial survival rate in a model gastric juice. The components that enhanced the acid tolerance of the bacterium in W/O/W emulsion were investigated. Although the acid tolerance enhancement induced by the tested components was low at pH 2, some components significantly improved the tolerance at pH 4. In particular, the acid tolerance enhancement induced by yeast extract and sodium caseinate was marked.  相似文献

This study aimed at investigating the physico-mechanical and microstructural properties of a novel edible film based on plasticized semolina flour with different plasticizer (sorbitol/glycerol, 3:1) contents (30, 40, and 50%, w/w). As plasticizer content increased, water vapor and oxygen permeability, tensile strength, and the elastic modulus of the semolina films decreased, while their water solubility, moisture content, and elongation-at-break increased significantly (p < 0.05). Semolina-based films exhibited excellent absorption of ultraviolet light, and the addition of plasticizers improved the optical properties of the resultant films. Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy showed no significant effect on the structure of the protein. Thermogravimetric analysis also revealed that increasing plasticizer concentration has no remarkable influence on the magnitude of weight loss. Atomic force microscopy images showed that the surface roughness of the films was influenced by plasticizer concentrations. This study demonstrated that semolina flour protein has the potential to prepare edible films.  相似文献

During bread-making processes, yeast cells are exposed to various baking-associated stresses. High-sucrose concentrations exert severe osmotic stress that seriously damages cellular components by generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS). Previously, we found that the accumulation of proline conferred freeze-thaw stress tolerance and the baker's yeast strain that accumulated proline retained higher-level fermentation abilities in frozen doughs than the wild-type strain. In this study, we constructed self-cloning diploid baker's yeast strains that accumulate proline. These resultant strains showed higher cell viability and lower intracellular oxidation levels than that observed in the wild-type strain under high-sucrose stress condition. Proline accumulation also enhanced the fermentation ability in high-sucrose-containing dough. These results demonstrate the usefulness of proline-accumulating baker's yeast for sweet dough baking.  相似文献

Vacuolar H+‐ATPase (V‐ATPase) is thought to play a role in stress tolerance. In this study it was found that bottom‐fermenting yeast strains, in which the V‐ATPase‐related genes DBF2, VMA41/CYS4/NHS5 and RAV2 were overexpressed, exhibited stronger ethanol tolerance than the parent strain and showed increased fermentation rates in a high‐sugar medium simulating high‐gravity fermentation. Among the strains examined, the DBF2‐overexpressing bottom‐fermenting yeast strain exhibited the highest ethanol tolerance and fermentation rate in YPM20 medium. Using this strain, high‐gravity fermentation was performed by adding sugar to the wort, which led to increased fermentation rates and yeast viability compared with the parent strain. These findings indicate that V‐ATPase is a stress target in high‐gravity fermentation and suggests that enhancing the V‐ATPase activity increases the ethanol tolerance of bottom‐fermenting yeast, thereby improving the fermentation rate and cell viability under high‐gravity conditions. A series of nanocrystalline mesoporous Ni/Al2O3SiO2 catalysts with various SiO2/Al2O3 molar ratios were prepared by the sol-gel method for the carbon dioxide methanation reaction. The synthesized catalysts were evaluated in terms of catalytic performance and stability. The catalysts were studied using XRD, BET, TPR and SEM. The BET results indicated that the specific surface area of the samples with composite oxide support changed from 254 to 163.3 m2/g, and an increase in the nickel crystallite size from 3.53 to 5.14 nm with an increment of Si/Al molar ratio was visible. The TPR results showed a shift towards lower temperatures, indicating a better reducibility and easier reduction of the nickel oxide phase into the nickel metallic phase. Furthermore, the catalyst with SiO2/Al2O3 molar ratio of 0.5 was selected as the optimal catalyst, which showed 82.38% CO2 conversion and 98.19% CH4 selectivity at 350 °C, high stability, and resistivity toward sintering. Eventually, the optimal operation conditions were specified by investigating the effect of H2/CO2 molar ratio and gas hourly space velocity (GHSV) on the catalytic behavior of the denoted catalyst.  相似文献

The influence of the operation temperature on the output properties of solar cells with hydrogenated amorphous silicon (a-Si:H) and hydrogenated amorphous silicon germanium (a-SiGe:H) photovoltaic layers was investigated. The output power after longtime operation of an a-Si:H single junction, an a-Si:H/a-Si:H tandem, and an a-Si:H/a-SiGe:H tandem solar cell was calculated based on the experimental results of two types of temperature dependence for both conversion efficiency and light-induced degradation. It was found that the a-Si:H/a-SiGe:H tandem solar cell maintained a higher output power than the others even after longtime operation during which a temperature range of 25°C to 80°C. These results confirm the advantages of the a-Si:H/a-SiGe:H tandem solar cell for practical use, especially in high-temperature regions.  相似文献

In this study, we investigate an inter-industrial and inter-regional recycling system for industrial waste by the cement industry in Japan. We develop a linear programming model that represents cement production processes and waste transportation of all cement factories in Japan. We simulate cost and CO2-minimizing systems. The result implies that making waste transportation more efficient in cost is an effective means for CO2 reduction.  相似文献

In designing solid‐pole synchronous machines, it is important to take into account the surface eddy‐current losses in the field pole cores. In this study, a solid‐iron ring specimen is adopted as an approximate model of solid‐pole surfaces in order to conduct a fundamental study of the surface losses. The influence of the minor hysteresis loops on the losses under dc‐biased magnetization is investigated. The losses in the ring under dc‐biased magnetization are measured and analyzed by finite element analysis (FEA). The losses computed by the FEA considering minor loops are nearly the same as those measured. In contrast, the eddy‐current losses computed by FEA without considering minor loops are considerably inaccurate because the incremental permeability is overestimated and the skin depth is underestimated. It is important to consider hysteresis for the accurate calculation of the surface eddy‐current losses under dc‐biased magnetization.  相似文献
