The effect of diluents on isotactic polypropylene (iPP) membrane formation via thermally induced phase separation was investigated. The diluents were methyl salicylate (MS), diphenyl ether (DPE), and diphenylmethane (DPM). The cloud-point curve was shifted to a lower temperature in the order iPP–MS, iPP–DPE, and iPP–DPM, whereas the crystallization temperature was not influenced so much by diluent type. Droplet-growth processes were investigated under two conditions: quenching the polymer solution at the desired temperature and cooling at a constant rate. Although droplet sizes were in the order iPP–MS, iPP–DPE, and iPP–DPM in both cases, the difference was more pronounced with the constant cooling rate condition. Scanning electron microscopy indicated that interconnected structures were obtained when the polymer solution was quenched in ice water. Experimental studies are carried out on the operational characteristics of the top-heat-type long heat transport loop. This loop consists of a heated section, a cooled section, a reservoir, valves and tubes connecting these components. The heated section is about 3 m higher than the cooled section, and water is used as the working fluid inside the loop. Heat is applied from a detached heat source to the heated section by a heat transfer fluid through a heat exchanger, while the heat is discharged from the cooled section to a heat sink. It is confirmed that the temperatures and the pressures inside the loop vary cyclically corresponding to the valve operation, and the heat is transported downward continuously from the heated section to the cooled section. The experimental results are also shown on the effects of the liquid flow rate inside the heat exchanger and the temperatures of the heat source and the heat sink on the operational characteristics of the heat transport loop. Moreover, the discussion is made on the pressure difference inside the loop.  相似文献

To study the operation of selective attention in a conflict situation with automatic processes, we trained 4 Japanese macaques; (Macaca fuscata) extensively on a manual go/no-go task. The monkey had to discriminate either the color, shape, motion direction, or location of a visual stimulus. In each trial, the behavioral meaning of the relevant feature (go or no-go) could either be congruent or incongruent with irrelevant features of the same stimulus. Reaction times were slowed, and error rates increased when irrelevant stimulus features were incongruent with the required response. The effects were obtained when the monkey attended to the color, shape, or motion direction, but not when it attended to the location of the stimulus. The effects were cumulative so that the interference from 1 incongruent feature was smaller than that from 2 incongruent features. Callosobruchus analis (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae: Bruchinae), found throughout tropical Asia and Africa, is a pest of stored legumes. Previous work has shown that females of this species produce a contact sex pheromone that elicits copulatory behavior in males. Comparisons of copulatory activity between any two of four congeneric species suggest that the contact sex pheromones are species specific. In laboratory bioassays, male C. analis exhibited copulatory behavior to a female dummy to which a crude extract of virgin females was applied. The extract had been collected by a filter paper method and was purified by acid–base partition and chromatographic techniques. Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) analyses of active fractions revealed that the active compounds were 2,6-dimethyloctane-1,8-dioic acid (1) and callosobruchusic acid, (E)-3,7-dimethyl-2-octene-1,8-dioic acid (2), previously identified as contact sex pheromones of Callosobruchus maculatus (F.) and C. chinensis (L.), respectively. The stereoisomeric and chemical compositions were determined by the 2D-HPLC-Ohrui-Akasaka method as (2S,6R)-1:(S)-2 = 1.8:1, which meant that both compounds in C. analis were stereochemically pure, unlike the case of C. maculatus and C. chinensis. An examination of the influence of synthetic pheromone compounds on male copulatory activity revealed that (2S,6R)-1 is the main component, and that (S)-2 has an additive effect. In the examination of the stereochemistry-activity relationship, no copulatory behavior was elicited by (2R,6S)-1, and, furthermore, the enantiomer significantly masked the pheromonal activity of (2S,6R)-1. Glass rod dummy assays also suggested the presence of synergists. These results could elucidate the specificity of mate recognition in C. analis.  相似文献

Hydrogenation of poly(vinyl cinnamate) was performed with RhH(CO)(PPh3)3 catalyst with intent to clarify the photoalignment mechanism of liquid crystals on poly(vinyl cinnamate) alignment layer. The hydrogenated cinnamate side group shows the characteristic peaks at 2.9 ppm and 2.5 ppm in 1H-NMR spectrum, and a decreasing peak at 280 nm in UV spectrum. This reaction can reveal the role of dimerized or residual cinnamate groups in the applications of the polymeric layer for electronic devices.  相似文献

Boron and its compounds are environmentally hazardous substance and are well-known condensed products that appear in coal fly ash during combustion of coal in coal-fired electric power stations. In a previous study, we suggested that boron in coal fly ash obtained from Nantun coal in China, identified as Ash-N, may exist on the surface of relatively large coal fly ash particles or as very fine particles generated by homogeneous nucleation. Although the characterization of boron in coal fly ash is important for its effective stabilization or removal, its detection is quite difficult because of its low concentration in coal fly ash and its light atomic weight. In the present work, solid-state magic angle spinning nuclear magnetic resonance (MAS-NMR) technique has been applied to reveal the local chemical structures of boron in Ash-N. In the 11B MAS-NMR spectrum of Ash-N, two peaks which are attributed to a three-oxygen coordinated boron unit (BO3) and a four-oxygen coordinated boron unit (BO4) were observed with high resolution. We have estimated quadrupole parameters of the BO3 unit in Ash-N using computer simulation, and we have fingerprinted these moieties with the parameters of borates. The result of the present analysis shows that calcium- or magnesium-bearing orthoborate or pyroborate are the most likely forms of boron in Ash-N.  相似文献

Callosobruchus rhodesianus (Pic) (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae: Bruchinae) is a pest of stored legumes through the Afro-tropical region. In laboratory bioassays, males of C. rhodesianus were attracted to volatiles collected from virgin females. Collections were purified by various chromatographic techniques, and the biologically active component isolated using gas chromatographic-electroantennographic detection analysis. Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry and NMR analyses suggested that the active compound was 2,3-dihydrohomofarnesal, i.e., 7-ethyl-3,11-dimethyl-6,10-dodecadienal. The structure was confirmed by non-stereoselective and enantioselective total synthesis. Using chiral gas chromatography, the absolute configuration of the natural compound was confirmed as (3S,6E)-7-ethyl-3,11-dimethyl-6,10-dodecadienal. Y-tube olfactomter assays showed that only the (S)-enantiomer attracted males of C. rhodesianus. The (R)-enantiomer and racemate did not attract males, suggesting that the (R)-enantiomer inhibits the activity of the natural compound. In combination with previous reports about sex attractant pheromones of congeners, we suggest that a saltational shift of the pheromone structure arose within the genus Callosobruchus.  相似文献

Recrystallization in a tetragonal tetra-n-butyl ammonium bromide (hereafter, TBAB) semi-clathrate hydrate system has been investigated in TBAB aqueous solutions of two different concentrations (stoichiometric mole fraction for tetragonal TBAB hydrate formation and lower mole fraction than stoichiometric one) by use of optical microscopy. The recrystallization of TBAB hydrate has been observed under milder condition than that of the initial crystallization in both concentrations. In particular, solution of the lower concentration is easily recrystallized. This is the first observation of memory effect in a semi-clathrate hydrate system. In addition, the recrystallization occurs in the vicinity of the place where the last piece of initial crystal was dissociated. This implies that a small amount of residual structures remain in the dissociated water, but unfortunately they cannot be confirmed with Raman micro-spectroscopy.  相似文献

Recent genome-wide analysis has demonstrated that somatic mutations in ARID1A (BAF250) are the most common molecular genetic changes in ovarian clear cell carcinoma (OCCC). ARID1A mutations, which occur in approximately half of OCCC cases, lead to deletion of the encoded protein and inactivation of the putative tumor suppressor. In this study, we determined the significance of loss of ARID1A immunoreactivity with respect to several clinicopathological features in a total of 149 OCCCs. First, we demonstrated that ARID1A immunohistochemistry showed concordance with the mutational status in 91% of cases with 100% sensitivity and 66% specificity. Specifically, among 12 OCCC cases for which ARIDA mutational status was known, ARIDIA immunoreactivity was undetectable in all 9 cases harboring ARID1A mutations and was undetectable in one of 3 cases with wild-type ARID1A. With respect to the entire cohort, ARID1A immunoreactivity was undetectable in 88 (59%) of 149 OCCCs. There was no significant difference between ARID1A negative and positive cases in terms of histopathologic features, age, clinical stage, or overall survival. In conclusion, this study provides further evidence that mutations in ARID1A resulted in loss of ARID1A protein expression in OCCC, although no significant differences between ARID1A positive and negative cases were observed with respect to any clinicopathological features examined.  相似文献

A simple technique for single-shot microscopic electron imaging was demonstrated for the study of intense femtosecond laser-produced plasmas. Passed through a permanent magnet lens designed for 110-keV electrons, hot electrons emitted from the plasma produced by a single laser pulse of 0.8 mJ with intensity of 3 × 10(16) W/cm(2) were successfully imaged. Analyzing this image, we found that electrons were emitted from an area of 3 μm in diameter. At higher laser intensity of 10(18) W/cm(2), distinct structures were observed in and near the focal spot of the laser; that is, the electrons were emitted from several separate spots. These results show that laser-plasma electron imaging is promising for studying the interactions of femtosecond lasers with high-density plasmas.  相似文献
