Ovarian cancer, one of the most common gynecological malignancies, has an aggressive phenotype. It is necessary to develop novel and more effective treatment strategies against advanced disease. Protein tyrosine kinases (PTKs) play an important role in the signal transduction pathways involved in tumorigenesis, and represent potential targets for anticancer therapies. In this study, we performed cDNA subtraction following polymerase chain reaction (PCR) using degenerate oligonucleotide primers to identify specifically overexpressed PTKs in ovarian cancer. Three PTKs, janus kinase 1, insulin-like growth factor 1 receptor, and discoidin domain receptor 1 (DDR1), were identified and only DDR1 was overexpressed in all ovarian cancer tissues examined for the validation by quantitative real-time PCR. The DDR1 protein was expressed in 63% (42/67) of serous ovarian cancer tissue, whereas it was undetectable in normal ovarian surface epithelium. DDR1 was expressed significantly more frequently in high-grade (79%) and advanced stage (77%) tumors compared to low-grade (50%) and early stage (43%) tumors. The expression of the DDR1 protein significantly correlated with poor disease-free survival. Although its functional role and clinical utility remain to be examined in future studies, our results suggest that the expression of DDR1 may serve as both a potential biomarker and a molecular target for advanced ovarian cancer.  相似文献

Air filters collect particles by the mechanical collection mechanisms, namely, inertia, interception, gravitational settling, and Brownian diffusion. There exists the most penetrating particle size (MPPS) in submicron size range for which none of the collection mechanisms work effectively. In this study, we propose a new type of filter named as “centrifugal filter,” which collects aerosol particles by centrifugal force together with the conventional mechanical collection mechanisms. The centrifugal filter proposed in the present work may be rotated by a motor or compressed air. Air passes through the filter in the axial direction of filter rotation. The filter rotates so does the air embedded in the filter, and therefore centrifugal force exerts on particles. In addition to the mechanical collection mechanisms, small migration of particles due to the centrifugal force enhanced the collection efficiency of submicron particles significantly without increasing the pressure drop. The performance tests of centrifugal filter were conducted by changing the fiber diameter, the air flow velocity and the rotation speed. We found that the collection efficiency of filter is enhanced significantly by rotating the filter without increasing the pressure drop and that the filter efficiency is well predicted by the conventional filtration theory accounting for the centrifugal force.

This paper presents the high-performance DRAM array and logic architecture for a sub-1.2-V embedded silicon-on-insulator (SOI) DRAM. The degradation of the transistor performance caused by boosted wordline voltage level is distinctly apparent in the low voltage range. In our proposed stressless SOI DRAM array, the applied electric field to the gate oxide of the memory-cell transistor can he relaxed. The crucial problem that the gate oxide of the embedded-DRAM process must be thicker than that of the logic process can be solved. As a result, the performance degradation of the logic transistor can be avoided without forming the gate oxides of the memory-cell array and the logic circuits individually. In addition, the data retention characteristics can be improved. Secondly, we propose the body-bias-controlled SOI-circuit architecture which enhances the performance of the logic circuit at sub-1.2-V power supply voltage, Experimental results verify that the proposed circuit architecture has the potential to reduce the gate-delay time up to 30% compared to the conventional one. This paper proposes the virtual-socket architecture in order to reduce the design turn-around time (TAT) of the embedded DRAM. The required memory density and the function of the embedded DRAM are system dependent. In the conventional design, the DRAM control circuitry with the DRAM memory array is handled as a hardware macro, resulting in the increase in design TAT. On the other hand, our proposed architecture provides the DRAM control circuitry as a software macro to take advantage of the automated tools based on synchronous circuit design. With array-generator technology, this architecture can achieve high quality and quick turn-around time (QTAT) of flexible embedded DRAM that is almost the same as the CMOS ASIC. We applied this virtual-socket architecture to the development of the 61-Mb synchronous DRAM core using 0.18-μm design rule and confirmed the high-speed operation, 166 MHz at CAS latency of two, and 180 MHz at that of three. The experimental results show that our proposed architecture can be applied to the development of the high-performance embedded DRAM with design QTAT  相似文献

Thermotropic liquid-crystalline compounds were applied as membrane materials (membrane solvent and neutral carrier) for neutral carrier-type ion sensors to investigate how the ordered arrangement of neutral carriers affects the property of the resulting ion sensors. Nematic, smectic, and cholesteric liquid-crystalline compounds were used as the membrane solvents and crown ether derivatives with a molecular structure similar to the liquid-crystalline solvent as the K+ neutral carriers. Polarized IR spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction experiments confirmed that the highly ordered arrangement of membrane components was retained in the liquid-crystal-based ion-sensing membranes containing a neutral carrier and a lipophilic salt. The ordered arrangement of neutral carriers in the liquid-crystalline membranes enhanced the ion selectivity significantly, probably due to the efficient cooperation of two adjacent crown ether moieties in the highly ordered and aggregated state.  相似文献

Pactamycin is an antibiotic produced by Streptomyces pactum with antitumor and antimalarial properties. Pactamycin has a unique aminocyclitol core that is decorated with 3-aminoacetophenone, 6-methylsaliciate, and an N,N-dimethylcarbamoyl group. Herein, we show that the adenylation enzyme PctU activates 3-aminobenzoic acid (3ABA) with adenosine triphosphate and ligates it to the holo form of the discrete acyl carrier protein PctK to yield 3ABA-PctK. Then, 3ABA-PctK is N-glycosylated with uridine diphosphate-N-acetyl-d -glucosamine (UDP-GlcNAc) by the glycosyltransferase PctL to yield GlcNAc-3ABA-PctK. Because 3ABA is known to be a precursor of the 3-aminoacetophenone moiety, PctU appears to be a gatekeeper that selects the appropriate 3-aminobenzoate starter unit. Overall, we propose that acyl carrier protein-bound glycosylated 3ABA derivatives are biosynthetic intermediates of pactamycin biosynthesis.  相似文献

Studies on segmented poly(urethane‐urea) (SPUU) elastic fibers having various segment structures were done in terms of elastic recovery and stress‐strain relationship (S‐S). Three kinds of segment structures were used: 1) the same composition having different sequences of segment units, 2) the same length of soft segments having different molecular weights of polyol, and 3) different segment structures having almost the same stress at 350% elongation. The SPUU elastic fibers having higher sequence numbers of both soft and hard segment units, that is, greater block structures, show better elastic recovery properties, especially delayed elastic recovery. The SPUU elastic fibers showing better elastic recovery take an optimum value for the number‐average molecular weight (Mn) of soft segments jointed with urethane bonds. Here the optimum Mn depends on the molecular weight of polytetramethyleneglycol (PTMG) as a starting material. The hysteresis loss in S‐S for the pre‐elongation decreases with an increase of Mn of PTMG. The SPUU elastic fibers having greater block structures show lower stress with lower 2C1 and 2C1 + 2C2 of Mooney‐Rivilin plot constants for elastic fibers having the same composition. This indicates a lower density of crosslinks for finite deformation. An increase of the urea bonds or the molar ratio of urea bond to urethane bond raises the stress. It is found that the polymerization process, as well as composition, is important for design structures of SPUU elastic fibers.  相似文献

A clinicopathological analysis of the risk factors for lymph node metastasis was performed in 177 patients with submucosal invasive colorectal carcinoma (CRC). The submucosal deepest invasive portion was histologically subclassified as well (W), moderately (M), or poorly (Por) differentiated. M type was further subdivided into moderately-well (Mw) and moderately-poorly (Mp) differentiated. The pattern of tumor growth was classified as polypoid growth (PG) and non-polypoid growth (NPG). Lymph node metastasis was detected in 21 (12%) of the 177 patients. Macroscopically, type IIc and IIa + IIc lesions showed a significantly higher incidence of lymph node metastasis (44% and 30%) than type IIa and I (4% and 8%). Regarding the histologic subclassification, Por and Mp lesions showed a significantly higher incidence of lymph node metastasis (67% and 37%) than W and Mw lesions (4% and 14%). NPG tumors showed a significantly higher incidence of lymph node metastasis (29%) than PG tumors (7%). The depth of submucosal invasion and lymphatic invasion (ly) were also significantly correlated with the incidence of lymph node metastasis (submucosal scanty (sm-s) invasion 4%, massive invasion 20%; ly(+) 23%, ly(-) 5%). None of the lesions with both sm-s invasion and of W or Mw type showed lymph node metastasis. These results indicate that submucosal invasive CRC with both sm-s invasion and of W or Mw type, which shows no ly, is the appropriate indication for endoscopic curative treatment.  相似文献

Different bit-line structures, bit-line materials, widths, spacings, and passivation materials were fabricated to analyze the effect of the coupling noise between adjacent bit lines in megabit DRAMs. Each component of total bit-line capacitance was measured to obtain the bit-line-to-bit-line capacitance and the other contributions to the total bit-line capacitance. Accelerated soft error tests were performed on each sample. The results suggest the existence of two types of noise effects. One is the READ-signal degradation just after the work-line rises. The other is the disturbance in sensing operation. The larger the ratio of the bit-line coupling capacitance to the other bit-line capacitance contributions the more serious both the noise effects are. These noise mechanisms can be explained by the charge conservation model and the simulation of sensing operation. A polycide bit-line structure is less susceptible to these noises than an Al bit line because its thickness and layer position  相似文献

A 1-Mbit CMOS full-featured EEPROM using a 1.0- mu m triple-polysilicon and double-metal process is described. The design is aimed at developing a manufacturable 120-ns 1-Mbit EEPROM with small chip size. Therefore, an advanced memory cell with high read current, an improved differential sensing technique, and an efficient ECC scheme are developed. The differential sensing amplifier utilizes the output of a current sensing amplifier connected to unselected memory as a reference level. The cell size is 3.8*8 mu m/sup 2/ and the chip size is 7.73*11.83 mm/sup 2/. The device is organized as either 128 K*8 or 64 K*16 by via-hole mask options. A 256-byte/128-word page-mode programming is implemented.<>  相似文献
