PURPOSE: To evaluate the success rates of the implantation of stent grafts in the treatment of peripheral aneurysms. MATERIALS AND METHODS: In 13 patients with 15 aneurysms at the common iliac artery (n = 6), external iliac artery (n = 1), hypogastric artery (n = 2), femoral artery (n = 2) or popliteal artery (n = 4), implantation of dacron-covered nitinol stents was performed. The patients were followed up for three to 20 months (mean, 8.8 months) with intravenous digital subtraction angiography, CT or colour-coded Doppler sonography. RESULTS: In all cases, the aneurysm was successfully occluded after stent implantation. In one case with a popliteal aneurysm, kinking of the vessel caused thrombosis of the stent. The stent was successfully reopened. The aneurysm however, had to be surgically treated 9 months later. The primary and secondary patency rates at 6 months were 93% and 100%, respectively. CONCLUSION: The method described might be an alternative therapy to surgery. There are some limitations in respect of treatment of popliteal aneurysms.  相似文献

We report numerical results of effective attractive forces on the packing properties of two-dimensional elongated grains. In deposits of non-cohesive rods in 2D, the topology of the packing is mainly dominated by the formation of ordered structures of aligned rods. Elongated particles tend to align horizontally and the stress is mainly transmitted from top to bottom, revealing an asymmetric distribution of local stress. However, for deposits of cohesive particles, the preferred horizontal orientation disappears. Very elongated particles with strong attractive forces form extremely loose structures, characterized by an orientation distribution, which tends to a uniform behavior when increasing the Bond number. As a result of these changes, the pressure distribution in the deposits changes qualitatively. The isotropic part of the local stress is notably enhanced with respect to the deviatoric part, which is related to the gravity direction. Consequently, the lateral stress transmission is dominated by the enhanced disorder and leads to a faster pressure saturation with depth.  相似文献

The risk factors of coronary artery calcification (CAC) and the impact of CAC on cardiovascular events, cardiovascular deaths, and all‐cause deaths in hemodialysis (HD) patients have not been fully elucidated. We examined the CAC score (CACS) in 74 HD patients using electron‐beam computed tomography. Fifty‐six patients underwent a second electron‐beam computed tomography after a 15‐month interval to evaluate CAC progression. We evaluated (1) the risk factors for CAC and its progression and (2) the impact of CAC on the prognosis. In the cross‐sectional study, HD vintage and high‐sensitive C‐reactive protein (hsCRP) were the independent risk factors for CAC. In the prospective cohort study, delta CACS (progression of CAC) was significantly correlated with hsCRP, fibrinogen, and serum calcium level in the univariate analysis. Stepwise multiple regression analysis revealed that only hsCRP was the independent risk factor for CAC progression in HD patients. Kaplan‐Meier survival analysis revealed that cardiovascular events (P<0.0001), cardiovascular deaths (P=0.039), and all‐cause deaths (P=0.026) were significantly associated with CACS. In conclusion, CAC had significantly progressed in HD patients during the 15‐month observation period. Microinflammation was the only independent risk factor for CAC progression in HD patients. The advanced CAC was a significant prognostic factor in HD patients, i.e., which was strongly associated with future cardiovascular events, cardiovascular deaths, and all‐cause deaths.  相似文献

A new electrode structure based on a three-dimensional mesoporous matrix was developed. Nanoparticles of γ-iron oxide (Fe2O3) were introduced into the mesopores of a carbon matrix (mesoporous carbon, CMK-3) by oxidizing metallic iron, which was electroplated in the matrix. The resulting structure was found to have a high charge-discharge capacity when used as the positive electrode of a lithium battery. The iron oxide nanoparticles bonded tightly to the electrically conductive electrode framework, and showed a high activity for the electrochemical reaction: Fe2O3 + 6Li → 3Li2O + 2Fe.  相似文献

c-kit, a receptor for stem cell factor, has been widely accepted as a distinctive marker for hematopoietic stem cells. However, the level of c-kit expression on pluripotent hematopoietic stem cells is still controversial in mice and humans. We purified CD34+/c-kit < low cells (phenotypically c-kit-negative but only detectable at the message level) from human cord blood and examined their maturational steps in relation to the expression of c-kit molecules. When the CD34+/c-kit < low cells were cultured with cytokines (flt 3 ligand, interleukin 6 and interleukin 7) plus immobilized anti-CD34 monoclonal antibody (to crosslink CD34 molecules), c-kit molecules were clearly induced within 24 h. The c-kit expression gradually increased until day 8. When CD34+/c-kit(low) or CD34+/c-kit+ cells that had been induced from CD34+/c-kit < low cells were resorted and recultured using a methylcellulose culture system, they showed the same colony-forming ability as the freshly isolated CD34+/c-kit(low) or CD34+/c-kit+ cells, respectively. Furthermore, CD34+/c-kit < low cells have a similar hematopoietic potential to CD34+/c-kit(low) cells in assays for long-term culture initiating cell and colony-forming unit culture generated from long-term cultures. These findings suggest that CD34+/c-kit < low cells mature into CD34+/c-kit(low) and CD34+/c-kit+ cells, and acquire the reactivity to various humoral hematopoietic stimuli. Moreover, CD34+/c-kit < low cells showed a low level of rhodamine 123 retention, suggesting that CD34+/c-kit < low cells have multidrug resistance. Therefore, the CD34+/c-kit < low cells without colony-forming unit-granulocyte-erythroid-macrophage-megakaryocyte activity are also a pluripotent hematopoietic stem cell population, and the expression of c-kit on c-kit < low cells is the first maturational step of hematopoiesis.  相似文献

Porous silicon nitride with macroscopically aligned channels was synthesized using a freeze-drying process. Freezing of a water-based slurry of silicon nitride was done while unidirectionally controlling the growth direction of the ice. Pores were generated subsequently by sublimation of the columnar ice during freeze-drying. By sintering this green body, a porous silicon nitride with high porosity (over 50%) was obtained and its porosity was controllable by the slurry concentration. The porous Si3N4 had a unique microstructure, where macroscopically aligned open pores contained fibrous grains protruding from the internal walls of the Si3N4 matrix. It is hypothesized that vapor/solid phase reactions were important to the formation mechanism of the fibrous grains.  相似文献

A reaction-bonding process, which offers low sintering shrinkage and is a low-cost process, was applied to fabricate Y–α-SiAlON ceramics. The green compacts composed of Si, Y2O3, Al2O3, and AlN were nitrided and subsequently postsintered. Dense single-phase Y–α-SiAlON with elongated grain morphology could be achieved in the specimen postsintered at 1900°C. The material exhibited high hardness (1850 HV10) and high fracture toughness (5.1 MPa·m1/2).  相似文献
