Channel Assignment Strategies for Multiradio Wireless Mesh Networks: Issues and Solutions 总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3
Next-generation wireless mobile communications will be driven by converged networks that integrate disparate technologies and services. The wireless mesh network is envisaged to be one of the key components in the converged networks of the future, providing flexible high- bandwidth wireless backhaul over large geographical areas. While single radio mesh nodes operating on a single channel suffer from capacity constraints, equipping mesh routers with multiple radios using multiple nonoverlap- ping channels can significantly alleviate the capacity problem and increase the aggregate bandwidth available to the network. However, the assignment of channels to the radio interfaces poses significant challenges. The goal of channel assignment algorithms in multiradio mesh networks is to minimize interference while improving the aggregate network capacity and maintaining the connectivity of the network. In this article we examine the unique constraints of channel assignment in wireless mesh networks and identify the key factors governing assignment schemes, with particular reference to interference, traffic patterns, and multipath connectivity. After presenting a taxonomy of existing channel assignment algorithms for WMNs, we describe a new channel assignment scheme called MesTiC, which incorporates the mesh traffic pattern together with connectivity issues in order to minimize interference in multi- radio mesh networks. 相似文献

In this article we show that, although pure general-purpose MANET (mobile ad hoc networks) does not yet exist in the real world, the multihop ad hoc networking paradigm was successfully applied in several classes of networks that are penetrating the mass market. We present as examples mesh, opportunistic, vehicular, and sensor networks, where the multi-hop ad hoc paradigm is applied in a pragmatic way to extend the Internet and/or to support well-defined application requirements. In a shadowing-free environment, the improvement introduced by slow frequency-hopping (SFH) on a time-division multiple-access based mobile radio system can be taken into account by redefining the minimum carrier-to-interference ratio. This protection ratio, with SFH, is dependent on the transmission system, channel model, traffic, and frequency reuse parameters. In this paper, the above-mentioned analysis is used in order to investigate the capacity of a SFH mobile radio system, with reference to both the uplink and downlink, by taking into account a complete scenario, i.e., shadowing, fast fading, power control, antenna diversity, discontinuous transmission, and forward error correction with nonideal interleaving and sectorization. Outage probability is evaluated by a completely analytical methodology for the uplink, whereas the downlink requires a semianalytical approach to take users' positions into account. Reaching target audiences is of crucial importance for the success of health communication campaigns, but individuals may avoid health messages if they challenge their beliefs or behaviors. A lab study (N = 419) examined effects of messages' consistency with participants' behavior and source credibility on selective exposure for 4 health lifestyle topics. Drawing on self‐regulation theory and dissonance theory, 3 motivations were examined: self‐bolstering, self‐motivating, and self‐defending. Prior behavior predicted selective exposure across topics, reflecting self‐bolstering. Standard‐behavior discrepancies also affected selective exposure, consistent with self‐motivating rather than self‐defending. Selective exposure to high‐credibility sources advocating for organic food, fruits and vegetable consumption, exercise, and limiting coffee all fostered accessibility of related standards, whereas messages from low‐credibility sources showed no such impact. 相似文献

A common strategy to optimize whiteness in living organisms consists in using 3D random networks with dense and polydisperse scattering elements constituted by relatively low refractive index materials. Inspired by these natural architectures, a fast and scalable method to produce highly scattering porous polymer films via phase separation is developed. By varying the molecular weight of the polymer, the morphology of the porous films is modified, and therefore their scattering properties are tuned. The achieved transport mean free paths are in the micrometer range, improving the scattering strength of analogous low refractive index systems, e.g., standard white paper, by an order of magnitude. The produced porous films show a broadband reflectivity of ≈75% while only 4 µm thick. In addition, the films are flexible and can be readily index‐matched with water (i.e., they become transparent when wet), allowing for various applications such as coatings with tunable transmittance and responsive paints. 相似文献

Self-Assembly Monolayers (SAMs) are considered a promising route for solving technological hindrances (such as bias-stress, contact resistance, charge trapping) affecting the electrical performances of the Organic Field-Effect Transistors (OFETs). Here we use an OFET based on pentacene thin film to investigate the charge transport across conjugated SAMs at the Au/pentacene interface. We synthesized a homolog series of π-conjugated molecules, termed Tn-C8-SH, consisting of a n-unit oligothienyl Tn (n = 1…4) bound to an octane-1-thiol (C8-SH) chain that self-assembles on the Au electrodes. The multi-parametric response of such devices yields an exponential behavior of the field-effect mobility (μ), current density (J), and total resistivity (R), due to the SAM at the charge injection interface (i.e. Au-SAM-pentacene). The surface treatment of the OFETs induces a clear stabilization of different parameters, like sub-threshold slope and threshold voltage, thanks to standardized steps in the fabrication process. 相似文献

The paper provides a power and spectrum joint analysis of the universal mobile telecommunications system (UMTS) satellite component, based on the wideband code division multiple access (W‐CDMA) air interface. In fact, power and spectral efficiency may become highly conflicting requirements in a satellite system and a trade‐off analysis is needed to drive a proper dimensioning of the satellite. The proposed approach allows a dimensioning of the satellite component either in terms of orbit and power budget or in terms of additional capacity for the terrestrial section, for specified orbit and power limitations. The impact of candidate frequency bands, orbit type and diversity on both spectral and power requirements of the satellite component is evaluated. For given traffic requirements, power‐vs‐spectrum trade‐off is proposed which ensures a proper resources utilization. The efficiency evaluation accounts for: beams overlapping, ortho gonality, voice activity factor, diversity and cross‐polarization frequency reuse. Perfect power control is assumed and the effect of the excess power required by the shadowed users is accounted for in the interference calculation. Furthermore, still in the frame of a proper resource exploitation, a possible optimization of capacity through the use of unpaired bands in the two link directions is analysed. Right before the 2008 U.S. presidential election, this 2‐session online field study examined consequences of selective exposure to political messages on accessibility of attitudes and of partisanship. In the first session, participants indicated attitudes toward political issues and their partisanship, which allowed measuring accessibility of attitudes and of partisanship. In the second session, participants browsed articles. Four issues were covered by 8 articles, with 2 articles featuring opposing perspectives. Selective exposure was unobtrusively logged. Finally, participants completed measures for attitudes and partisanship again. Selective exposure to attitude‐consistent articles was linked to greater attitude accessibility. The indirect impact of selective exposure on partisanship accessibility through attitude accessibility was significant. 相似文献

In order to study an original detection architecture for future cosmology experiments based on wide band adding interferometry, we have tested a single baseline bench instrument based on commercial components. The instrument has been characterized in the laboratory with a wide band power detection setup. A method which allows us to reconstruct the complete transfer function of the interferometer has been developed and validated with measurements.
