Ultrasonic absorption, velocity, adiabatic compressibility, relaxation time and relaxation amplitude measurements are reported on poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) solution in tetrahydrofuran (THF) using pulsed ultrasonic apparatus operating at 2 MHz and 313 K. Results show a linear increase of velocity. density, viscosity, absorption coefficient, relaxation time and relaxation amplitude values with the increase of PVC concentration in THF. In contrast the compressibility decreases with increasing PVC concentration. This suggests interaction between PVC and THF molecules.  相似文献

The gene rafY from the plasmid pRSD2, which enables Escherichia coli to grow on raffinose, was transferred into expression plasmid pUSL77. The protein was expressed in the porin-deficient Escherichia coli strain KS26 and was isolated and purified to homogeneity. The pure protein was reconstituted into lipid bilayer membranes. It formed an ion-permeable channel with a single-channel conductance of 2.9 nS of the open state in 1 M KCl, which is approximately twice of that of the general diffusion pores OmpF and OmpC of E. coli outer membrane. At lower pH the channel exhibited rapid flickering between three substates of the open channel. The RafY channel appears to be wide and water filled and has a small selectivity for cations over anions. Although RafY is part of an uptake and fermentation system for raffinose it does not contain a binding site for carbohydrates. Our results suggest that RafY is a general diffusion pore with a diameter, larger than that of the general diffusion porins OmpF and OmpC, that allows the diffusion of high-molecular-mass carbohydrates through the outer membrane.  相似文献

It has been reported that for polymer blends with high viscosity ratio (>1), the size of the dispersed particles decreases with increasing volume fraction of the dispersed phase. In order to explain this effect, an equation was derived for the affine deformation of an imaginary plane of the dispersed phase in stratified two‐phase steady, simple, shear flow. The model predicts that for viscosity ratio >1, the deformation rate increases with volume fraction of the dispersed phase, and the shear stress also increases, leading to an increase of the breakup time. Therefore, the total deformation of the dispersed phase, before breakup, increases with increase of volume fraction, resulting in a decrease of the size of the dispersed phase particles. Accordingly, one can expect that in industrial mixers, the particle size of the blends should decrease as the volume fraction increases, if coalescence is suppressed. Experiments were carried out in a Haake batch mixer, using polyethylene/polyamide‐6 blends compatibilized by adding maleic anhydride grafted polyethylene. Particle size decreased up to 20 wt% polyamide‐6, at 100, 150, and 200 RPM, and increased between 20 and 30 wt%. The decrease of the particle size is mainly due to increased deformation of the dispersed phase. The increase of the particle size above 20 wt% is due to coalescence at high fractions.  相似文献

The influence of the Al/Ti ratio of the heterogeneous Ziegler–Natta catalyst system AlEt3–TiCl4 on the isoprene polymerization in n-heptane at 30°C in a bench scale reactor was investigated. Each batch run consisted of 50 mL isoprene, 200 mL n-heptane with 0.45 and 0.5g catalyst. Conversion of isoprene and molecular weights of polyisoprene increased with increasing Al/Ti ratio, reaching their maxima values at 1.0 and 1.2, respectively. Conversion and molecular weights decreased remarkably at a higher ratio of Al/Ti. As this ratio decreases from the value of 1.2 to 0.4, the cis1,4 content in polyisoprene decreased from 97 to 25%. When the ratio of Al/Ti increased from 1.2 to 2.2 the cis-1,4 structure of polyisoprene decreased from 97 to 85%.  相似文献

The high molecular weight (MW) polypropylene with average particle size of 60 nm was synthesized by controlled growth mechanism using Ziegler–Natta catalyst. The atomic force microscopy (AFM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) studies showed that PP nanoparticles were spherical in shape. Structure and crystallinity were concomitantly studied through Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and X‐ray diffraction, respectively. It shows nanospherical PP particles with more crystallinity (~ 75%) compared with macrosized PP (~ 59%). In addition, differential scanning calorimetry studies revealed the finite particle size effect on Tg and the scale dependence Tg followed a first order exponential trend. As particle size goes down to nano‐ scale from macrosize, continuous elevation of Tg's were observed from ?25 to ?11°C. This phenomenon was directed to configuration entropy of single spherical nanoparticles of PP. The mechanical properties and surface roughness were also evaluated through AFM. At last, the properties of nanosized PP were compared with micron and macrosized particles. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Appl Polym Sci 2007  相似文献
