The human plasma high density lipoproteins (HDL) are a heterogeneous ensemble of five proteins associated with both neutral
and polar lipids. The sequences of all five proteins are known. ApoA-I and apoA-II are the major protein components; apoC-I,
apoC-II and apoC-III are the minor protein components. All these apoproteins spontaneously recombine with phospholipids to
give stable lipid-protein complexes and freely exchange between the two major HDL subclasses, HDL2 and HDL3. In addition, ApoC-I, apoC-II, and apoC-III exchange between HDL and very low density lipoproteins. Furthermore, certain
HDL apoproteins are activators for plasma enzymes that are important in lipid metabolism. ApoA-I and apoC-I activate lecithin/cholesterol
acyltransferase; apoC-II is an activator of lipoprotein lipase. The regions of apoC-I and apoC-II that are involved in the
activation of these enzymes have been localized with synthetic peptides. Studies of synthetic and native fragments of apoA-II,
apoC-I, apoC-II, and apoC-III as well as model lipid-binding peptides have identified specific regions with structural features
common to lipid-binding proteins. These special properties, which include helical potential, sequences with a critical amphipathic

Previous research has demonstrated a loss of helmet‐mounted display (HMD) legibility for users exposed to whole body vibration. A pair of human factors studies was conducted to evaluate the effect of whole body vibration on eye, head, and helmet movements for seated users of a HMD while conducting simple fixation and smooth pursuit tracking tasks. These experiments confirmed that vertical eye motion can be demonstrated, that is consistent with the human visual systems' response to the vestibular–ocular reflex (VOR). Helmet slippage was also shown to occur, which could exacerbate loss of display legibility. The largest amplitudes in eye movements were observed during exposure to sinusoidal vibration in the 4–6 Hz range, which is consistent with the frequencies that past research has associated with whole‐body resonance and the largest decrease in display legibility. Further, the measured eye movements appeared to be correlated with both the angular acceleration of the user's head and the angular slippage of the user's helmet. This research demonstrates that the loss of legibility while wearing HMDs likely results from a combination of VOR‐triggered eye movements and movement of the display. Future compensation algorithms should consider adjusting the display in response to both VOR‐triggered eye and HMD motion. 相似文献

The hypothesis was tested that marmosets have differential displays of investigatory behavior towards circumgenital scent marks from socially dominant females based on degree of familiarity. In a series of two-choice behavioral discrimination bioassays, dominant males together with subordinate and dominant females were presented concurrently with scent secretions from familiar versus unfamiliar dominant females, and their investigative behaviors towards the scent were recorded. Test animals directed significantly different amounts of investigative behaviors towards familiar versus unfamiliar scents when the scent stimuli involved complete circumgenital scent marks, glandular secretion only, or urine only. When animals discriminated between the two scent samples, they did so by directing significantly increased amounts of behavior to scent from unfamiliar females. Chemical cues promoting differential displays of behavior to familiar versus unfamiliar scents appeared to be volatile in nature and were effective in the scent mark for at least one day following deposition. The reliable ability of marmosets to consistently discriminate between odors from familiar versus unfamiliar dominant females provides strong circumstantial evidence that individual female marmosets have distinct chemical signatures. The ability of marmosets to discriminate the odor from familiar versus unfamiliar dominant females may be important in the context of intergroup relations. 相似文献

In order to evaluate the intrinsic effect of high concentrations of sodium and potassium sulphates in zinc electrowinning solutions, measurements of coulombic efficiency were carried out under mass transfer-controlled conditions in synthetic solutions of very high purity. A solution composition of 1 mol dm–3 ZnSO4+1.5 mol dm–3 H2SO4 was employed with and without additions of 0.5 mol dm–3 Na2SO4 and/or 0.25 mol dm–3 K2SO4. With temperature and current density similar to plant practice (37° C, 650 A m–2) and electrode rotation rates of 10 and 45 s–1, the coulombic efficiency for three successive batch tests (200 mg zinc) increased by an average of 1.2% (from an average of 96.0%) for additions of 0.5 mol dm–3 Na2SO4+0.25 mol dm–3 K2SO4. The results were evaluated in terms of available theories, solution purity and predicted changes in solution composition (zinc and hydrogen ion activities) and physical properties following additions of Na2SO4/K2SO4. It was concluded that in the plant situation the increase in coulombic efficiency would probably be offset by an increase in cell voltage of about 2%, the net effect on power efficiency being a decrease of about 1%. The zinc deposit morphology and preferred orientation were also studied. The addition of sodium and/or potassium sulphate to the solution resulted in rougher, darker zinc deposits, a slight grain refining effect, and a change from random to predominantly basal (002), (004) crystal orientation (at 45 s–1). 相似文献

Summary A systematic investigation of some 21 castor polyols as base materials for preparing urethane foams was carried out. Prepolymers
were prepared both from individual castor polyols and from mixtures of them with an anhydrous castor oil. Foams formed from
these prepolymers were checked for shrinkage on cure, density, and modulus.
From the wide range of results obtained it is evident that castor polyols can serve as effective urethane components. Aside
from serving as major polyols for reaction with di-isocyanates, they can also be used as modifying polyols a) to speed up
prepolymer preparation, b) to adjust prepolymer viscosity to any required degree, c) to minimize loss of modulus on humid
aging, and as cross-linking centers with negligible loss of foam modulus. Details covering the preparation of a nonshrinking,
semi-rigid, light-weight urethane foam based on an 85% anhydrous castor oil/15% epoxidized castor oil mix are outlined in
the article.

Compositionally and structurally varied copolymers all containing n-octadecyl acrylate were prepared and evaluated as viscosity index improvers in a common base oil under conditions of low shear. Systems evaluated over a range of copolymer and blend composition were: copolymers of n-octadecyl acrylate with, respectively, methyl methacrylate, 2-ethylhexyl acrylate, and n-dodecyl acrylate; and homopolymers of poly(n-octadecyl acrylate), prepared with a wide range of molecular weights. Properties were compared with those of blends of commercial methacrylate copolymers (acryloids) which had been freed of their entraining liquid. Mixtures of base oil with copolymers of n-octadecyl acrylate and methyl methacrylate, compared at fixed SAE viscosities, were the most efficient of all blends studied. They had the smallest rate of change of viscosity with temperature (as measured by their ASTM slopes), particularly in the composition region of incipient polymer precipitation at room temperature. Efficiency of certain of these composition was somewhat greater than that of the acryloids. A parameter that related concentration and weight-average molecular weight was used to correlate all of the data for ASTM slope and viscosity. Empirical relations developed by using this parameter enabled rheological data to be estimated that agree within 6% of experimental values for the case of thermodynamically good base oil solvents. These data demonstrated the relatively small contributions of copolymer structure to viscosity index improvement. 相似文献

Robustly and accurately localizing vehicles in underground mines is particularly challenging due to the unavailability of GPS, variable and often poor lighting conditions, visual aliasing in long tunnels, and airborne dust and water. In this paper, we present a novel, infrastructure‐less, multisensor localization method for robust autonomous operation within underground mines. The proposed method integrates with existing mine site commissioning and operation procedures and includes both an offline map‐building process and an online localization algorithm. The approach combines the strengths of visual‐based place recognition, LIDAR‐based localization, and odometry in a particle filter fusion process. We provide an extensive experimental validation using new large data sets acquired in two operational Australian underground hard‐rock mines (including a 600m‐deep multilevel mine with approximately 33 km of mapping data and 7 km of vehicle localization) by actual mining vehicles during production operations. We demonstrate a significant increase in localization accuracy over prior state‐of‐the‐art SLAM research systems and real‐time operation, with processing times in the order of 10 Hz. We present results showing a mean error of 0.68 m from the Queensland Mine data set and 1.32 m from the New South Wales Mine data set and at least 86% reduction in error compared with prior state of the art. We also analyze the impact of the particle filter parameters with respect to localization accuracy. Together this study represents a new approach to positioning systems for currently deployed autonomous vehicles within underground mine environments. 相似文献
