Effects of testosterone propionate, an anabolic-androgenic steroid (AAS), on aggression in gonadally intact male mice were examined. Animals were given weekly injections of 3.75, 7.5, 15, and 30 mg/kg of drug or sesame oil for 10 weeks. During the last 3 weeks, behavioral tests were conducted and at the end of the experiment, body, liver and testes weight and hormonal data were collected. The treatment had minimal behavioral and endocrine effects. It resulted in shorter latencies of 'threat' only in the last agonistic encounter, increases in testosterone levels and decreases in testes weight in a non-linear dose-dependant way. The action of treatment was different on threat and attack, the latter being unaffected. The behavioral effects in the total sample were only found in aggressive animals selected on the basis of their latency of attack in the first encounter.  相似文献

This paper presents exact axisymmetric bending solutions of circular and annular plates based on the higher-order plate theory of Levinson. The solutions are displayed in terms of the corresponding Kirchhoff (or classical thin) plate solutions. These Kirchhoff-Levinson bending relationships are derived using the mathematical similarity of the governing equations of the two plate theories and the basis of load equivalence. The relationships allow one to readily deduce the more accurate Levinson plate solutions that account for the effect of transverse shear deformation, without having to solve the more complicated Levinson plate equations.  相似文献

The gray level information gathered from using the X-ray absorption-based technique was used to determine the thickness of multi-layered structures in semiconductor components. Various thickness combinations of silicon, copper, tin and silver material were used to construct a range of triple-layered structures. The minimum thickness resolution achievable in copper and tin, for both silicon–copper–tin (Si–Cu–Sn) and silver–tin–copper (Ag–Sn–Cu) combinations were in the order of 0.001 mm. This value was comparable to a single layer of copper and tin, respectively. The gray level information was also applied to detect the presence of a void or an imperfect solder bump, which is increased of approximately 7% and 30–40%, respectively, in the gray values was observed compared to a defect-free and complete solder.  相似文献

The CARE study showed that the myocardial infarction recurrence rate in patients with moderate cholesterol blood level decreases early during pravastatin treatment. Our goal is to evaluate the possible role of pravastatin in preventing the myocardial lesions induced by cold stress. Twenty Wistar-EPM rats were divided into four groups: Control (CON); PR (Pravastatin) treated with 10 mg/kg/d for 15 days; S (Stress group) in which the rats were submitted to cold stress (-8 degrees C for four hours); and PR + S group treated with pravastatin like PR group and also submitted to the cold stress. The animals were sacrificed and heart fragments were removed for optic and electronic microscopic analysis. The variable considered was mitochondria abnormality (edema, lyses and vacuolization) that was interpreted as crystolyses indices (CI) (n degree of abnormal mitochondria/n degree total of mitochondria). The following crystolyses indices, were found for each group respectively: CON, 2.0%; S, 95.5%; PR, 19.9% and PR + S group, 27.7%*(*p < 0.01). In conclusion, pravastatin prevented myocardial lesions induced by cold stress significantly.  相似文献

Lipase from Burkholderia cepacia (BCL) has proven to be a very useful biocatalyst for the resolution of 2‐substituted racemic acid derivatives, which are important chiral building blocks. Our previous work showed that enantioselectivity of the wild‐type BCL could be improved by chemical engineering of the substrate's molecular structure. From this earlier study, three amino acids (L17, V266 and L287) were proposed as targets for mutagenesis aimed at tailoring enzyme enantioselectivity. In the present work, a small library of 57 BCL single mutants targeted on these three residues was constructed and screened for enantioselectivity towards (R,S)‐2‐chloro ethyl 2‐bromophenylacetate. This led to the fast isolation of three single mutants with a remarkable tenfold enhanced or reversed enantioselectivity. Analysis of substrate docking and access trajectories in the active site was then performed. From this analysis, the construction of 13 double mutants was proposed. Among them, an outstanding improved mutant of BCL was isolated that showed an E value of 178 and a 15‐fold enhanced specific activity compared to the parental enzyme; thus, this study demonstrates the efficiency of the semirational engineering strategy.  相似文献

TCR V alpha elements are expressed preferentially in CD4 or CD8 subsets in a manner that is largely independent of MHC haplotype. It is likely that the V alphas interact preferentially with conserved regions of class I or class II molecules. To investigate the topology of binding of TCR to MHC-peptide complexes, we screened a panel of H-2Kbm mutants for differential V alpha expression. One strain, bm23, showed a consistent alteration in V alpha expression, with increased V alpha 3.2 expression in CD8 peripheral T cells. This overselection is manifest in CD8 single-positive thymocytes and appears to be due to enhanced positive selection on Kbm23. There is no apparent effect of V beta elements. The Kbm23 molecule is unique compared with Kb and the other Kbm molecules at residue 75 on the helix of the alpha 1 domain, suggesting an interaction between V alpha 3.2 and the alpha 1 helix at this point. Such an interaction is inconsistent with the orientation of TCR and MHC defined in two crystal structures, but is consistent with an orientation where the TCR is rotated by 180 degrees relative to MHC.  相似文献

Wireless telemedicine is a new and evolving area in telemedical and telecare systems. Healthcare personnel require realtime access to accurate patient data, including clinical histories, treatments, medication, tests, laboratory results and insurance information. With large-scale wireless networks and mobile computing solutions, such as cellular 3G, Wi-Fi mesh and WiMAX, healthcare personnal can tap into vital information anywhere and at any time within the healthcare networks. The recent introduction of pervasive computing, consisting of radio frequency identification (RFID), Bluetooth, ZigBee, and wireless sensor networks, further extends the potential for exploitation of wireless telecommunications and its integration into new mobile healthcare delivery systems. In this paper, snapshots of current uses and future trends of various wireless communications in the healthcare domain are highlighted. Special attention is given to the challenges of a telemedicine environment equipped with different wireless technologies and how the resulting issues might be addressed in medical services integration to provide flexible, convenient and economical medical monitoring, consultation and healthcare.  相似文献

A widely tunable multi‐channel grating cavity laser is proposed and experimentally demonstrated. The device is implemented in Littman configuration with an echelle grating based on Rowland circle construction and realized by monolithically integrating all elements in an InP substrate. Lasing wavelength is selected by turning on an amplifier and the appropriate channel element in the array, and it is tuned by controlling light deflection electrically. The 6‐channel device exhibits a tuning range of about 50 nm with a side mode suppression ratio of more than 30 dB. This is accomplished by adjusting the applied current of the dispersive element and phase control section.  相似文献

Forecasting cash requirements is essential for all contractors during the tendering stage since cash flow at the beginning of the project is a major cause of construction companies’ failure. Unfortunately, estimating minimum working capital (MWC) is not the mainstream practice of the majority of contractors in Malaysia, who find that the present models for estimating MWC are cumbersome and seldom give an accurate estimate. Therefore estimates of MWC made during the tendering stage need to be simplified so they can be prepared quickly with minimum input. It is important for the developer or owner to select a qualified contractor with competent financial backing. This paper establishes the relationship among the factors that contribute to MWC requirements and presents a simple model that could be used as a guide to estimate MWC for housing construction projects in Malaysia. The estimation is based on percentages of variables of contract value based on the historical data that influence MWC; the MWC obtained is then expressed in terms of percentage of contract value.  相似文献
