Nano-cube MgO particles were formed on Si substrates by deposition of an MgO target using pulsed laser deposition method. An epitaxial film grows on Si(001) substrate with its contraction of lattice constants. In this study, expecting high quality MgO film, the MgO film prepared in the oxygen pressure ranging from 75-400 mTorr at the high temperature of -750 degrees C. The deposited MgO showed the growth of (001) preferred orientation on the Si(001) substrate. However, X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS) indicated the MgO film did not form a continuous film on the Si surface. Interestingly, the surface morphology observed by an Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) showed nano-cube MgO particles scattered on the smooth surface of Si substrate. After annealing the nano-cube MgO, the shape of MgO particles were changed from nano-cube to round shaped particles. The AFM image of the surface showed round shaped MgO nanoparticles scattered on rough surface. X-ray Diffraction (XRD) revealed the epitaxial growth of MgO(001) with cubic on cubic arrangement on the Si(001) substrate (MgO[100] parallel to Si[100]).  相似文献

This article is a selective theory-driven review that synthesizes recent neuroscience findings concerning mental workload during complex cognition from the perspective of a functional resource theory called 3CAPS, focusing on the concept of capacity utilization . Capacity utilization refers to the proportion of resources that is being consumed in a given time interval in a given cognitive system. This definition integrates the dynamic effects of (a) the computational demand imposed by a task, and (b) the resource supply in an individual that is available to meet that demand. The analysis reveals that the functional relations between capacity utilization and measures of neural activity are similar across three different cognitive systems (language comprehension, visuospatial processing and executive processing). The measures of neural activity include functional neuroimaging, pupillary dilation and event-related potentials. The construct of capacity utilization provides a mapping between a functional architecture of cognition and aspects of its neural implementation.  相似文献

A monoacylglycerol lipase (MGL) was purified from Pseudomonas sp. LP7315 by ammonium sulfate precipitation, anion-exchange chromatography, and preparative electrophoresis. The purified enzyme was homogeneous on SDS-PAGE with a molecular mass of 59 kDa. Its hydrolytic activity was confirmed to be specific for monoglycerides: the enzyme did not hydrolyze di- and triglycerides. MGL was found to be stable even after 1-h incubation at 65 degrees C. The optimum pH for monopalmitin hydrolysis was approximately 8. The hydrolytic activity depended not only on temperature and pH but also on the type of monoglyceride used. MGL also catalyzed monoglyceride synthesis at 65 degrees C in a solvent-free two-phase system, in which fatty acid droplets were dispersed in the glycerol phase with a low water content. The synthetic reaction proceeded at a constant rate for approximately 24 h and approximately reached an equilibrium after 48 h of reaction. The initial rate and equilibrium yield of the synthetic reaction depended on the type of fatty acid used as the substrate.  相似文献

We have fabricated polymer/polymer blend solar cells consisting of poly(3-hexylthiophene) as the electron donor and poly{2,7-(9,9-didodecylfluorene)-alt-5,5-[4',7'-bis(2-thienyl)-2',1',3'-benzothiadiazole]} as the acceptor. The power conversion efficiency (PCE) was strongly dependent on solvents employed for spin coating. The best PCE of 2.0% was obtained for thermally annealed devices prepared from a chloroform solution, in contrast to devices fabricated from chlorobenzene and o-dichlorobenzene solutions. On the basis of the morphology-performance relationship in the polymer blends examined by atomic force microscopy and the photoluminescence quenching measurements, we conclude that the highly efficient performance is achieved by thermal purification of nanoscale-phase-separated domains formed by spin coating from chloroform.  相似文献

We examined whether self-restraint in early childhood predicted individual differences in 3 executive functions (EFs; inhibiting prepotent responses, updating working memory, and shifting task sets) in late adolescence in a sample of approximately 950 twins. At ages 14, 20, 24, and 36 months, the children were shown an attractive toy and told not to touch it for 30 s. Latency to touch the toy increased with age, and latent class growth modeling distinguished 2 groups of children that differed in their latencies to touch the toy at all 4 time points. Using confirmatory factor analysis, we decomposed the 3 EFs (measured with latent variables at age 17 years) into a Common EF factor (isomorphic to response inhibition ability) and 2 factors specific to updating and shifting. Less-restrained children had significantly lower scores on the Common EF factor, equivalent scores on the Updating-Specific factor, and higher scores on the Shifting-Specific factor than did the more-restrained children. The less-restrained group also had lower IQ scores, but this effect was entirely mediated by the EF components. Twin models indicated that the associations were primarily genetic in origin for the Common EF variable but split between genetics and nonshared environment for the Shifting-Specific variable. These results suggest a biological relation between individual differences in self-restraint and EFs, one that begins early in life and persists into late adolescence. The principles and recent progress in the research and development of photobiological hydrogen production are reviewed. Cyanobacteria produce hydrogen gas using nitrogenase and/or hydrogenase. Hydrogen production mediated by native hydrogenases in cyanobacteria occurs under in the dark under anaerobic conditions by degradation of intracellular glycogen. In vitro and in vivo coupling of the cyanobacterial photosynthetic system with a clostridial hydrogenase via cyanobacterial ferredoxin was demonstrated in the presence of light. Genetic transformation of Synechococcus PCC7942 with the hydrogenase gene from Clostridium pasteurianum was successful; the active enzyme was expressed in PCC7942. The strong hydrogen producers among photosynthetic bacteria were isolated and characterized. Coculture of Rhodobacter and Clostriudium was applied for hydrogen production from glucose. A mutant strain of Rhodobacter sphaeroides RV whose light-harvesting proteins were altered was obtained by UV irradiation. Hydrogen productivity by the mutant was improved when irradiated with monochromatic light of some wavelengths. The development of photobioreactors for hydrogen production is also reviewed.  相似文献

The estimation of tetrachloethene (PCE) dechlorinating-activity and identification of PCE-dechlorinating bacteria were performed in 65 unsaturated subsurface soils (at a depth 30-60 cm) that were collected from 21 noncontaminated soils and 44 chloroethene-contaminated soils including four soils that dechlorinated PCE to 1,2-cis-dichloroethene (cisDCE) in situ. Sixteen out of the 44 PCE-contaminated soils and three out of the 21 noncontaminated soils dechlorinated PCE to trichloroethene and cisDCE but not vinyl chloride or ethene after a month of incubation with 0.1% yeast extract at 30 degrees C. Desulfitobacterium sp. strain B31e3 that can dechlorinate PCE to cisDCE was isolated from a soil that dechlorinated PCE to cisDCE in situ. 16S rRNA gene of this strain showed the closest similarity of 99.1% with that of Desulfitobacterium hafniense (formally frappieri) strain DP7. Real-time PCR using specific primer sets targeted to the 16S rRNA genes of the representative PCE-dechlorinating bacteria, Dehalococcoides spp., Desulfitobacterium spp., and Dehalobacter spp. were performed using five unsaturated subsurface soils that dechlorinated PCE and three that did not dechlorinate PCE. In two out of the five soils that dechlorinated PCE, Desulfitobacterium spp. (0.12, 0.38% of total bacteria) and Dehalobacter spp. (0.0045, 0.0061% of total bacteria) were detected, and in one of the five soils, only Desulfitobacterium spp. (0.042% of total bacteria) was detected. None of these representative PCE-dechlorinating bacteria were detected in two out of the five soils that dechlorinated PCE and in all of the three soils that did not dechlorinate PCE. Dehalococcoides spp. were not detected in any unsaturated subsurface soils used in this study. These results suggested the involvement of Desulfitobacterium spp. and probably Dehalobacter spp. rather than Dehalococcoides spp. in the dechlorination of PCE to cisDCE in unsaturated subsurface soils.  相似文献

Heparin binds various growth factors and activates them to interact with high-affinity cell surface receptors; a specific array of sulfate groups in the heparin backbone structure is very important for this interaction. In the present study, we evaluated the effects of two novel heparin derivatives, 6-O-desulfated heparin (6-DSH) and 2-O-desulfated heparin (2-DSH), on blood coagulation and the proliferation of human neural stem/progenitor cells (NSPCs). 6-DSH showed lower anticoagulant activity than intact heparin or 2-DSH, as measured by the activated partial thromboplastin time and thrombin time. In the presence of FGF-2, 6-DSH and 2-DSH promoted approximately the same rate of proliferation of human NSPCs, without noticeably changing the expression of nestin. The mitotic effects of 6-DSH and 2-DSH on human NSPCs were different from their effects on mouse hematopoietic stem cells and fibroblasts. These findings indicate that 6-DSH and 2-DSH have the same ability to promote the growth of human NSPCs as intact heparin. Our results suggest that these two novel heparin derivates, especially 6-DSH, could be used in clinical applications for ex vivo human NSPC culture, as a lower-risk growth co-adjuvant than intact heparin.  相似文献

Behavioral disinhibition has been characterized as a generalized vulnerability to externalizing disorders. Despite increasing evidence for its validity and heritability, the structural stability of behavioral disinhibition across adolescence and the strength and etiology of its relation to executive functions have not been studied. In this multivariate twin study, the authors assessed behavioral disinhibition using measures tapping substance use, conduct disorder, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and novelty seeking at ages 12 and 17. Executive functions were assessed with laboratory-based cognitive tasks at age 17. Results indicated that, at age 12, behavioral disinhibition was dominated by ADHD and conduct problems and was highly heritable. At age 17, the contributions of the 4 components were more balanced, and the proportion of variance attributable to genetic factors was somewhat smaller, with additional variance due to shared environmental influences. At both ages, behavioral disinhibition was more closely related to response inhibition than other executive functions (working memory updating and task-set shifting), and this relationship was primarily genetic in origin. These results highlight the dynamic nature of behavioral disinhibition across adolescence and suggest that response inhibition may be an important mechanism underlying vulnerability to disinhibitory psychopathology. This special section includes a set of 5 articles that examine the nature of inter- and intraindividual differences in working memory, using working memory span tasks as the main research tools. These span tasks are different from traditional short-term memory spans (e.g., digit or word span) in that they require participants to maintain some target memory items (e.g., words) while simultaneously performing some other tasks (e.g., reading sentences). In this introduction, a brief discussion of these working memory span tasks and their characteristics is provided first. This is followed by an overview of 2 major theoretic issues that are addressed by the subsequent articles—(a) the factors influencing the inter- and intraindividual differences in working memory performance and (b) the domain generality versus domain specificity of working memory—and also of some important issues that must be kept in mind when readers try to evaluate the claims regarding these 2 theoretical issues.
