Several findings of the author's own mental workload research are reviewed. Especially, factors, except task demand, influencing mental workload indexes are discussed. First, an experiment using the National Aeronautics and Space Administration Task Load Index (NASA TLX) is reviewed and the effects of a prior task load on a subsequent subjective workload are described. In a physiological measures section, the low reliability of the heart rate variability (HRV) parameters when the subjects' respiration pattern are highly irregular, and the existence of low sweat respondent, although perspiration seems to be sensitive to the workload, are indicated. Furthermore, results of the task specific physiological responses and of a HRV parameter affected by the individual characteristics, like type A behavior pattern, are shown. Discrepancy between autonomic nervous system activity measures may be solvable by introducing a new concept of autonomic space (synergism of sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system). Channel preamorphization, which is a technique used for shallow boron counter doping of pMOSFETs to suppress short-channel effects, improves gate oxide quality in MOS capacitors with the field-edge structure. This indicates that the source of gate oxide quality degradation is located near the field oxide edge, and is eliminated in channel preamorphization process by the gettering effects of defects induced near the original amorphous/crystalline interface. The leakage current of junction diodes, on the other hand, is increased by channel preamorphization. The leakage current increases because the defects near the original amorphous/crystalline interface act as generation centers in the depletion layers. Recent analyses of the professions have considered the question of the changing nature of professional power. This study is an interpretive analysis of the meaning of physicians' discourse in the face of a perceived challenge to the traditional boundaries of clinical practice from malpractice suits. The data for this analysis were drawn from interviews with physicians from three specialties and from documents produced by the AMA/Specialty Society. Four modes of discourse were observed: (1) affective lament; (2) rejection of tort law; (3) complaints about a deterioration in the culture of clinical practice; and (4) a call for active campaigning. Analysis of the modes of discourse highlights both the ways in which professional power is subjected to challenge and the forms of political, financial, and cultural struggle that professional organizations and individuals engage in to resist such challenges. 相似文献

The mutant p53 gene was transfected into ACHN, a wild-type p53-containing human renal cell carcinoma (RCC) cell line. The colony forming efficiency in soft agar in the mutant-type p53-transfected cell line (ACHN/MP) was significantly higher than that in the vector-only transfected control cell line (ACHN/C). The anti-Fas monoclonal antibody (CH11) induced apoptosis in the ACHN/C cells in a dose-dependent manner, whereas the effect of CH11 on the ACHN/ MP cells was markedly suppressed. In addition, the cytotoxic effect of CH11 on the ACHN/MP cells was augmented by the pretreatment with interferon- , but the corresponding effect on ACHN/C cells was not. These findings suggest that Fas-mediated therapy could be a novel approach to RCC, if interferon- treatment is added according to the p53 gene status. 相似文献

Copper metallization was applied to quarter-micron CMOS circuits using copper chemical vapor deposition (CVD) and chemical mechanical polishing (CMP). Both the metallization process and the electrical characteristics of CMOS devices/circuits were evaluated. Process-induced metal contamination on both sides of the wafer were quantitatively evaluated and reduced to about of 1011 atoms/cm2 by using an optimized cleaning sequence. The ability of borophosphosilicate-glass (BPSG) to act as a copper diffusion barrier was discovered and the ability of TiN to do so was also confirmed. Electrical characteristics of n and p MOSFET's with copper interconnections were stable even after annealing at 550°C. The leakage current of the pn junction, capacitance-voltage characteristics and time-dependent dielectric breakdown characteristics of the MOS diode indicate that the copper metallization process did not deteriorate the pn junction and the gate oxide. Normal operation of a 53-stage quarter-micron CMOS inverter ring oscillator with copper metallization was successfully achieved 相似文献

We investigated the effects of CINC/gro on IL-6 secretion by rat posterior pituitary cells. CINC/gro immunoreactivity was already detected in 1-h conditioned medium of normal posterior pituitary cells, and it increased significantly in a time-dependent manner during the first 24 h of culture. This immunoreactivity could be induced by TNF-alpha in a dose-dependent manner. On the other hand, CINC/gro stimulated IL-6 secretion by posterior pituitary monolayer cultures in a concentration dependent manner. Thus, CINC/gro significantly (P < 0.01) increased the secretion of IL-6 within 13 h of incubation, and this effect continued throughout 24 h of incubation. The stimulatory effect of 100 ng/ml CINC/gro on IL-6 secretion was completely blocked by 24-h incubation with 100 ng/ml IAP. These data demonstrate a new biological activity for CINC/gro in the posterior pituitary system. 相似文献

A deletion mutant in the low density lipoprotein receptor gene of a Japanese patient with heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia was analyzed. Genomic Southern blotting showed abnormal size restriction fragments with BamHI (7.8 kb), EcoRI (3.8 kb), BglII (17 kb), KpnI (> 23 kb), EcoRV (13 kb), and XbaI (14 kb). The abnormal EcoRI fragment, 3.8 kb, was cloned into lambda phage vector, and the deleted region of 10 kb including exons 2 and 3 was identified. The nucleotide sequence around the deletion joint was determined. The sequence of the eight nucleotides in the deletion-joint region of the mutant gene was identical to the corresponding sequences of both introns 1 and 3 of the normal gene. The deletion seemed to occur by an unequal recombination between the Alu-like sequences in the same direction in introns 1 and 3. 相似文献

The photocatalytic reactions of quinones dissolved in methanol were investigated on an illuminated n-type semiconducting rutile catalyst by employing electrochemical measurements based on the local cell process. The overall reaction determined by the chemical analysis was where R denotes a substituent. The higher reaction rate was obtained for the system of quinone with a more noble redox potential. It was found that quinones were reduced by electrons in the conduction band of rutile and that methanol was oxidized through the “current doubling” process. 相似文献
