A novel graft copolymer of [2-(methacryloyloxy)ethyl] trimethylammonium chloride onto poly(vinyl alcohol) has been synthesized
and it is cross-linked by glutaraldehyde for the investigation of its efficiency in removing Cr(VI) from aqueous solution.
The chemical nature of the ion-exchange resin has been elucidated with the help of chemical test, Fourier transform infrared,
thermo gravimetric analysis and DTA. Particle size, surface area, ion-exchange capacity, optimum pH, reaction time and temperature
for Cr(VI) extraction were determined. Chromium(VI) adsorption kinetics, isotherm and thermodynamics have been studied. A

Partially acidulated phosphate rock (PAPR) has been shown to be an effective source of P for plants grown on acid soils. Less information in available, however, regarding the effect of the phosphate rock (PR) source on the solubility and agronomic effectiveness of PAPR.The effect of Fe2O3 + Al2O3 content in PR on the quality of PAPR produced was investigated in this study. Nine sources of PR from Africa, Latin America, and the United States, representing a range of Fe2O3 + Al2O3 from 0.7% to 12.4%, were used. In a single-step process, the finely ground PRs were partially acidulated with H2SO4 at the 30% or 50% acidulation level and granulated (–3.35 + 1.18 mm or –6 + 14 mesh). It was found that the water-soluble P content in PAPR decreased with increasing Fe2O3 + Al2O content in the PR used. Apparently, the presence of Fe2O3 + Al2O3 resulted in a reversion of some of the water-soluble P to citrate-soluble P and sometimes even to citrate-insoluble P.A short-term (6 weeks) greenhouse study was conducted to evaluate crop response to PAPRs and single superphosphate (SSP); maize, the test crop, was grown on an acid soil (pH 4.5)—Hartsells silt loam (Typic Hapludults). The agronomic effectiveness of PAPRs with respect to SSP (in terms of dry-matter yield of maize) decreased with increasing Fe2O3 + Al2O3 content in PRs. Phosphorus uptake by maize from PAPRs was found to correlate well with water solubility but not with citrate solubility. The results obtained in this study show that the detrimental effect of Fe2O3 + Al2O3 content on the solubility and P availability of PAPR should be considered when selecting a PR for PAPR production. 相似文献

Size enlargement of particles in fluidized bed granulation involves mixing of particles with a binder liquid to form larger wet granules and drying them to form dry granules. Identification of the time for completion of granulation process is critical as further fluidization of dry granules is providing extra energy for their attrition. Monitoring the bed pressure drop and bed temperature of a batch fluidized bed granulator with time can provide information on the time for completion of the granulation process. Experimental observations on granulation time and size of granules in a lab-scale batch fluidized bed granulator are presented. Aluminosilicate precursor for the processing of mulite ceramics was synthesized chemically from inorganic salts following colloidal route. V2O5 was used as a sintering additive in different ratios with the precursor powder. The powder mixes were compacted and sintered at different elevated temperatures. The sintered masses were characterized by measuring the bulk density, porosity, flexural strength and fracture toughness. The extent of mullitization and final microstructure of the sintered masses were investigated by scanning electron microscopy and XRD analysis. It was observed that V2O5 exhibited favourable effect on the formation of properly crystallized mullite and in the improvement of different mechanical properties. 相似文献

Statistical mixture designs are used to systematically study the densification properties of silicon carbide (SiC) ceramics sintered with SiO2, Dy2O3, and Al2O3. Mixture models for percentage theoretical density and SiC weight loss as a function of the SiO2, Dy2O3, and Al2O3 oxide proportions have been determined and validated by analysis of variance. The results indicate a region confined by about 0–20 mol% silica, 50–65 mol% dysprosia, and 40–65 mol% alumina, with all samples containing 10% by volume of additives, and simultaneously maximization of density values and minimization of weight loss during SiC-based ceramic sintering. 相似文献

The structure of a suite of high-volatile, bituminous Surat Basin, Queensland coals has been investigated by a combination of analytical probes. These included elemental analyses, pyrolysis-gas chromatography-mass spectroscopy and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, together with a study of their liquefaction products in both tetralin and solvent free-tin catalysed hydrogenations. Samples were gathered across a 300 m depth interval intersected by the sampling well. Most techniques revealed clear but subtle differences in structure as a function of depth. The oils produced by solvent free-tin catalysed hydrogenation, however, showed very distinct dependence with depth and the waxy content, as indicated by 1H-NMR, could be correlated with the coal seam gas content. 相似文献

The NAD+‐dependent deacetylases, namely sirtuins, are involved in the regulation of a variety of biological processes such as gene silencing, DNA repair, longevity, metabolism, apoptosis, and development. An enzyme from the parasite Leishmania infantum that belongs to this family, LiSIR2RP1, is a NAD+‐dependent tubulin deacetylase and an ADP‐ribosyltransferase. This enzyme's involvement in L. infantum virulence and survival underscores its potential as a drug target. Our search for selective inhibitors of LiSIR2RP1 has led, for the first time, to the identification of the antiparasitic and anticancer bisnaphthalimidopropyl (BNIP) alkyl di‐ and triamines (IC50 values in the single‐digit micromolar range for the most potent compounds). Structure–activity studies were conducted with 12 BNIP derivatives that differ in the length of the central alkyl chain, which links the two naphthalimidopropyl moieties. The most active and selective compound is the BNIP diaminononane (BNIPDanon), with IC50 values of 5.7 and 97.4 μM against the parasite and human forms (SIRT1) of the enzyme, respectively. Furthermore, this compound is an NAD+‐competitive inhibitor that interacts differently with the parasite and human enzymes, as determined by docking analysis, which might explain its selectivity toward the parasitic enzyme. 相似文献
