On the application of ion sensitive field-effect transistors for the investigation of corrosion phenomena Ion sensitive field-effect transistors (ISFET) are chemical sensors based on semiconductor technology. They exhibit small dimensions, a plane measuring surface and have short response times. Thus, they are very suitable for the determination of local changes of the pH value at electrochemical corrosion studies. The described in this paper experimental set-up allows in situ measurements of the pH value by means of ISFET sensors in amounts of liquids below 1 mm3; the active surface area of the material under test may be below 1 mm2. In model tests preferably changes of the pH value of dist. water due to the corrosion of steel St 38 have been investigated. After an initial short-time rise caused by oxygen reduction a decay of the pH value to pH = 3 ?4 was obseved. Furthermore, ISFET sensors have been used as a potential probe for electrochemical polarization measurements in low conductive media. It was shown, that the dynamic behaviour of potentiostatic control circuits may be influenced favourably by the low output resistance of the ISFET.  相似文献

In [Turek (1996). Int. J. Numer. Meth. Fluids 22, 987–1011], we had performed numerical comparisons for different time stepping schemes for the incompressible Navier–Stokes equations. In this paper, we present the numerical analysis in the context of the Navier–Stokes equations for a modified time-stepping θ-scheme which has been recently proposed by Glowinski [Glowinski (2003). In: Ciarlet, P. G., and Lions, J. L. (eds.), Handbook of Numerical Analysis, Vol. IX, North-Holland, Amsterdam, pp. 3–1176]. Like the well-known classical Fractional-Step-θ-scheme which had been introduced by Glowinski [Glowinski (1985). In Murman, E. M. and Abarbanel, S. S. (eds.), Progress and Supercomputing in Computational Fluid Dynamics, Birkh?user, Boston MA; Bristeau et al. (1987). Comput. Phys. Rep. 6, 73–187], too, and which is still one of the most popular time stepping schemes, with or without operator splitting techniques, this new scheme consists of 3 substeps with nonequidistant substepping to build one macro time step. However, in contrast to the Fractional-Step-θ-scheme, the second substep can be formulated as an extrapolation step for previously computed data only, and the two remaining substeps look like a Backward Euler step so that no expensive operator evaluations for the right hand side vector with older solutions, as for instance in the Crank–Nicolson scheme, have to be performed. This modified scheme is implicit, strongly A-stable and second order accurate, too, which promises some advantageous behavior, particularly in implicit CFD simulations for the nonstationary Navier–Stokes equations. Representative numerical results, based on the software package FEATFLOW [Turek (2000). FEATFLOW Finite element software for the incompressible Navier–Stokes equations: User Manual, Release 1.2, University of Dortmund] are obtained for typical flow problems with benchmark character which provide a fair rating of the solution schemes, particularly in long time simulations.Dedicated to David Gottlieb on the occasion of his 60th anniversary  相似文献

Discussed in this paper is the Cartesian stiffness matrix, which recently has received special attention within the robotics research community. Stiffness is a fundamental concept in mechanics; its representation in mechanical systems whose potential energy is describable by a finite set of generalized coordinates takes the form of a square matrix that is known to be, moreover, symmetric and positive-definite or, at least, semi-definite. We attempt to elucidate in this paper the notion of “asymmetric stiffness matrices”. In doing so, we show that to qualify for a stiffness matrix, the matrix should be symmetric and either positive semi-definite or positive-definite. We derive the conditions under which a matrix mapping small-amplitude displacement screws into elastic wrenches fails to be symmetric. From the discussion, it should be apparent that the asymmetric matrix thus derived cannot be, properly speaking, a stiffness matrix. The concept is illustrated with an example.  相似文献

A parametric study of linearly tapered slot antenna (LTSA) in air and a method for optimization of its pattern are presented. A method of moments code is utilized to investigate the behavior of LTSA’s as the length, height and the taper angle varies. The self-organizing map (SOM) [5] provides a general data approximation method which is suitable for several application domains. The topology preservation is an important feature in data-analysis and may also be advantageous for the evaluation of the data in a function approximation or regression task. For this reason the interpolated self-organizing map (I-SOM) adds an output layer to the SOM architecture which computes a real valued output vector. This paper presents an extension of I-SOM towards a continuous interpolation. It is compared to RBF and to the parametrized self-organizing map.  相似文献

A two beam interferometer in the Martin-Puplett configuration is used to determine the complex dielectric constant at 300 GHz of teflon, TPX-plastics, SPECTRALON and paraffin waxes with melting temperatures of 48° C and 72° C, respectively. The design of the quasi-optical system leads to a constant beam diameter at the power detector independent of path delay and frequency. The power detector signal is recorded not only along one period but over about 50 periods. A spectrum estimation routine allows to determine more exactly amplitude and phase angle of the signal. A basic problem is noticed: imperfect detector and source match cause harmonic distortion of the power detector signal. The effects on processing the loss tangent and the invalidation are shown. Finally loss tangent and dielectric constant are determined indirectly by optimizing an equivalent microwave circuit using a commercial available microwave design system to take multiple reflections and losses in consideration.  相似文献

An efficient and commonly used approach to structural optimization is to solve a sequence of approximate design problems that are constructed iteratively. As is well-known, a major part of the computational burden of this scheme lies in the sensitivity analysis needed to state the approximate problems. We propose a possibility for reducing this burden by streamlining the calculations in a combined approximation and duality scheme for structural optimization. The difference between this scheme and the traditional one is that, instead of calculating all the constraint gradients to state an approximate design problem explicitly, linear combinations of these gradients are generated as they are needed during the solution of the approximate problem by the dual method. We show, by analysing some typical scenarios of problem characteristics, that this rearrangement of the calculations may be a computationally viable alternative to the traditional scheme. An advantage of streamlining the calculations is that there is no need to incorporate an active set strategy in the scheme, as is usually done, since all the design constraints may be taken into consideration without any loss of computational efficiency. This may, clearly, enhance the practical rate of convergence of the overall approximation scheme. Moreover, the proposed rearrangement of the calculations may make it computationally viable to apply iterative equation solvers to the structural analysis problem. Numerical results with direct as well as iterative equation solvers show that the streamlined scheme is a feasible and promising approach to structural optimization.  相似文献

Grey box identification refers to the practice of identifying dynamical systems in model structures exploiting partial prior information. This contribution reviews a method for stochastic grey box identification and surveys experiences and lessons of applying it to a number of industrial processes. Issues to be addressed include advantages and costs of introducing stochastics into the model, the question of what contribution must be expected from the model designer as opposed to what can be formalized in computer algorithms, and an outlook on future plans to resolve present shortcomings.  相似文献
