Diffusion plays a significant role in complex pattern formulations occurred in biological and chemical reactions. In this work, the authors study the effect of diffusion in coupled reaction-diffusion systems named the Gray-Scott model for complex pattern formation with the help of cubic B-spline quasi-interpolation (CBSQI) method and capture various formates of these patterns. The idea of Kronecker product is used first time with CBSQI method for 2D problems. Linear stability analysis of the reaction-diffusion system as well as stability of the proposed method is studied. Four test problems are considered to check the accuracy and efficiency of the method and found the stable patterns.

In the present work, we report the preparation of lanthanum-modified lead zirconate titanate (PLZT) thin films in pure perovskite phase by RF magnetron sputtering. For this purpose, a 3-in. diameter target of PLZT (8/60/40) was prepared by conventional solid-state reaction route. The chemical composition of PLZT target was determined using gravimetric analysis followed by UV–vis and flame atomic absorption spectrometry. Various deposition parameters such as target-to-substrate spacing, deposition temperature, post-deposition annealing temperature and time have been optimized to obtain PLZT films in pure perovskite phase. The films prepared in pure argon at 100 W RF power without external substrate heating exhibited pure perovskite phase after rapid thermal annealing (RTA) as confirmed by X-ray diffraction (XRD). Compositional analysis of the PLZT film was performed by secondary ion mass spectroscopy (SIMS) using PLZT target as standard sample. Depth profile of the film shows very good stoichiometric uniformity of all elements of PLZT.  相似文献

Catalytic activities are known to arise naturally in antibodies. Several naturally-occurring peptides, synthetic protease substrates, DNA, and esters are known to be cleaved by antibodies. There is increased production of antigen-specific catalytic antibodies in autoimmune disease. Polyreactive catalytic antibodies are present in unimmunized donors. Antibody light chains isolated from multiple myeloma patients frequently express proteolytic activity. Immunization protocols using as immunogens the ground state of a naturally-occurring polypeptide, anti-enzyme antibodies, or the enzyme itself are known to provoke catalytic antibody synthesis. Active site residues in the light chain subunit serve as the catalytic residues in a model antibody with peptide bond cleaving activity. A split-site model in which distinct amino acids serve as the essential catalytic residues and substrate ground-state recognition residues has been developed from mutagenesis studies. Engineering of the available antibodies could potentially generate improved catalysts. The possible mechanisms underlying proteolysis by natural antibodies and evolution of the catalytic activity are reviewed.  相似文献

A protocol mismatch occurs when heterogeneous networks try to communicate with each other. Such mismatches are inevitable due to the proliferation of a multitude of networking architectures, hardware, and software on one hand, and the need for global connectivity on the other hand. In order to circumvent this problem the solution of protocol conversion has been proposed. In this paper we present a systematic approach to protocol conversion using the theory of supervisory control of discrete event systems, which was partially first addressed by Inan. We study the problem of designing a converter for a given mismatched pair of protocols, using their specifications, and the specifications for the channel and the user services. We introduce the notion of converter languages and use it to obtain a necessary and sufficient condition for the existence of protocol converter and present an effective algorithm for computing it whenever it exists.  相似文献

Patients with type two diabetes mellitus (T2DM) are at increased risk for cardiovascular diseases. Impairments of endothelin-1 (ET-1) signaling and mTOR pathway have been implicated in diabetic cardiomyopathies. However, the molecular interplay between the ET-1 and mTOR pathway under high glucose (HG) conditions in H9c2 cardiomyoblasts has not been investigated. We employed MTT assay, qPCR, western blotting, fluorescence assays, and confocal microscopy to assess the oxidative stress and mitochondrial damage under hyperglycemic conditions in H9c2 cells. Our results showed that HG-induced cellular stress leads to a significant decline in cell survival and an impairment in the activation of ETA-R/ETB-R and the mTOR main components, Raptor and Rictor. These changes induced by HG were accompanied by a reactive oxygen species (ROS) level increase and mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP) loss. In addition, the fragmentation of mitochondria and a decrease in mitochondrial size were observed. However, the inhibition of either ETA-R alone by ambrisentan or ETA-R/ETB-R by bosentan or the partial blockage of the mTOR function by silencing Raptor or Rictor counteracted those adverse effects on the cellular function. Altogether, our findings prove that ET-1 signaling under HG conditions leads to a significant mitochondrial dysfunction involving contributions from the mTOR pathway.  相似文献

With an alarmingly increased rate of deterioration in reinforced concrete structures due to durability performance, efforts are being made to quantify in situ performance. Performance is a function of time and it is related to degradation and the parameters influencing it. Although state-of-the-art modeling of various deterioration mechanisms is available in the literature, evaluation of the influence of various deterioration mechanisms that decrease performance with time is difficult. However, in situ condition documentation, survey, and assessment of deteriorated structures reflect the resultant deterioration process and also helps in validation of experimental and theoretical methods of performance evaluation. In this research, a systematic in situ condition documentation, survey, and assessment of water tank structures has been done based on an empirical damage scale similar to that suggested in the literature and a bilinear graphical deterioration model for such water retaining structures in a semitropical region like India is presented on the basis of case studies.  相似文献

Tuna in oil was processed in retort pouches (20 × 17 cm) to a, F0 value of 10. Heat penetration characteristics were determined using a rotary retort to an F0 value of 10 and the results compared with a stationary retort. For studying the changes in heat penetration during rotation, tuna in oil was packed into retort pouches, subjected to different rotation speeds (2, 4 and 6 r.p.m.) and thermally processed to the same F0 value. For the same F0 value of 10, although there was a reduction in process time with increasing rotation speed up to 6 r.p.m., the magnitude of the reduction in processing time decreased with increase in speed of rotation. However up to 2 r.p.m. there was a considerable reduction in process time.  相似文献

In this work, the production of dextran was carried out in whey‐supplemented media using Leuconostoc mesenteroides BA08. Different growth and nutritional parameters were optimised to maximise the dextran production. Batch production in whey‐based media under optimised nutritional and growth conditions yielded a dextran concentration of 17.25 g/L. Structural analysis of the purified polymer by FT‐IR, 1D 1H and 13C nuclear magnetic resonance methodology revealed that polymer was a linear dextran having 93% α‐(1→6) linkage in the main chain. The morphology of the dried dextran and dextran‐producing cells was also studied by scanning electron microscope which showed a granular and porous or weblike structure, respectively. The results obtained showed that the industrial whey supplemented with nutrients such as sucrose, yeast extract and K2HPO4 can serve as an ideal growth medium for dextran production. The optimised fermentation and nutritional parameters can be further scaled up to establish the potential for the commercial production of food‐grade dextran from whey as part of a novel cost‐effective and environment‐friendly approach.  相似文献

The comparative stability of aspartame and neotame was monitored in yoghurt during its processing, fermentation and storage. A solid‐phase extraction method was suggest changing it to developed for the isolation of aspartame and neotame. Pasteurisation (85 °C/30 min) resulted in approximately 47% and 3% loss of aspartame and neotame, respectively. During fermentation, 3% loss of aspartame was observed, but no loss of neotame. There was no significant effects on the stability of either aspartame or neotame during storage (4–7 °C/15 days). The results indicated that neotame was more stable than aspartame under both pasteurisation and fermentation conditions; however, during storage, both sweeteners exhibited excellent stability.  相似文献

Streptococcus thermophilus strains have been isolated mainly from dairy environments. To prospect for new strains of S. thermophilus, isolation was made from different plant sources. In this study, 74 plant isolates were characterised as S. thermophilus by a polyphasic approach and by 16S rRNA sequencing. The isolates were further evaluated for their physiological and biochemical properties. Plant isolates exhibited good acid production and varying proteolytic activity. All the isolates showed acetaldehyde and capsular exopolysaccharide (EPS) production and few revealed diacetyl production. In contrast to industrial strains, six isolates were able to ferment galactose and 25 were found to have no urease activity. Both the plant isolates and reference dairy cultures were found to possess similar physiological and biochemical properties and can be considered for developing new starters.  相似文献
