This study examines the relation between adults' reports of the nature of the early parenting they received, including abuse, and the quality of their marital relationship. This community sample of 159 married women and men experienced relatively low levels of abuse. The regression analyses indicated that for women verbal abuse in childhood was predictive of marital conflict, and the caring parenting they experienced predicted the depth of their marital relationship. For men, the abuse variables did not predict any dimension of their current marital relationship. Of the parenting variables, overprotection was significantly predictive of conflict in their marriage. No demographic variable--income, education, and number of siblings--predicted any dimension of marital quality for either men or women. Given the skew of the abuse data for this nonclinical sample, log transformations were performed on the data and the regression analyses were reported. One change was noted: that for men, physical abuse and overprotection were equally predictive of marital conflict. The results suggest that abuse and early parent experiences are predictive of marital functioning in a nonclinical sample, but that differences exist in the pattern for men and women.  相似文献

Simultaneous saccharification and ethanol fermentation (SSF) of sago starch was studied using amyloglucosidase (AMG) and Zymomonas mobilis. The optimal concentration of AMG and operating temperature for the SSF process were found to be 0.5% (v/w) and 35°C, respectively. Under these conditions with 150 g dm?3 sago starch as a substrate, the final ethanol concentration obtained was 69.2 g dm?3 and ethanol yield, YP/S, 0.50 g g?1 (97% of theoretical yield). Sago starch in the concentration range of 100–200 g dm?3 was efficiently converted into ethanol. When compared to a two-step process involving separate saccharification and fermentation stages, the SSF reduced the total process time by half.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to ascertain the influence of pressure, temperature and time on the supercritical fluid extraction of β-carotene from the crude palm oil. The operating conditions were shown as follows: pressures of 75, 125 and 175 bar, temperatures of 80, 100 and 120 °C and extraction time of 1, 3 and 5 h. The extracts were analyzed using UV spectroscopy at a wavelength of 450 nm. Then the experimental data was compared with the data obtained using a statistical method. The results from the model showed a good agreement with the experimental data. The results (obtained from the statistical model) demonstrate that a pressure of 140 bar, temperature of 102 °C and extraction time of 3.14 h are required to obtain optimum yield of β-carotene (1.028 × 10−2%) from the extraction process, however the maximum yield of the β-carotene (1.741 × 10−2%) was experimentally obtained at a pressure of 75 bar, temperature of 120 °C and extraction time of 1 h.  相似文献

Producer gas, which derived from a biomass gasification process, is considered as one of the alternative fuels, which is suitable for the heating process and power generation. Due to low heating density and impurities, combustion in an external combustion chamber constitutes an obvious option for the utilization of producer gas via the combustion process. This paper reviews the technical challenges and the development of the producer gas combustor. Various combustion techniques are reviewed. A stable flame combustion with low emissions (both CO and NOx) constitutes a main requirement of the producer gas combustion. Flame stabilization techniques such as swirl-vane coupled with bluff-body, swirl flow configuration, and staging combustion were successfully employed to enhance the stability and performance of the producer gas combustion. As shown in the results of the studies, the combustion process can operate in a wide range of equivalence ratios with the exhaust gas temperature >600 °C. This temperature is sufficiently hot for the power generation and heating applications. Overall, NOx and CO emissions were below 700 ppm and 1.3%, respectively. In the flameless combustion mode, ultra-low emission for both CO and NOx were recorded. However, higher emission can be found when operated at a higher thermal load combustor. Homogeneity of the thermal field and low polluting emissions make flameless combustion a promising lean and clean combustion technology. Integration of the benefits of flameless combustion and producer gas fuel is an outstanding contribution in reducing emissions and enhancing the efficiency of the combustion systems.  相似文献

A pressure filtration membrane from conducting polymer polyaniline (PANI) is known to possess low mechanical strength and thermal stability. Therefore, it is believed that the properties of the membrane can be enhanced by blending PANI with a conventional polymer like polyimide (PI), which possesses high mechanical strength and thermal stability. A thermal analysis revealed that polymer chain of blend membranes started to break beyond the melting temperature of pure PANI membrane indicating that the addition of PI hindered the degradation of PANI and thus slowed down the decomposition process. Mechanical tests further showed that PANI/PI membrane had a tensile strength that was 60% higher than pure PANI membrane. Furthermore, the surface hydrophilicity and negativity of the blend membrane increased as it was doped in acid, thereby reflecting the exploitation of advantages of both polymers. Rejection at various molecular ranges of PEGs showed that PANI/PI membrane was initially in the ultrafiltration (UF) range, but later fell into the nanofiltration (NF) range when an acid dopant was introduced to the membrane. According to the long‐term filtration performance, the PANI/PI membrane was able to sustain a rejection of up to 99% in Congo red solution with just a slight reduction in flux. POLYM. ENG. Protein existence in wastewater is an important issue in wastewater management because proteins are generally present as contaminants and foulants. Hence, in this study, we focused on designing a polysulfone (PSf) hollow-fiber membrane embedded with hydrophilic iron oxide nanoparticles (IONPs) for protein purification by means of ultrafiltration. Before membrane fabrication, the dispersion stability of the IONPs was enhanced by the addition of a stabilizer, namely, citric acid (CA). Next, PSf–IONP–CA nanocomposite hollow-fiber membranes were prepared via a dry–wet spinning process and then characterized in terms of their hydrophilicity and morphology. Ultrafiltration and adsorption experiments were then conducted with bovine serum albumin as a model protein. The results that an IONP/CA weight ratio of 1:20 contributed to the most stable IONP dispersion. It was also revealed that the membrane incorporated with IONP–CA at a weight ratio of 1:20 exhibited the highest pure water permeability (58.6 L m−2 h−1 bar−1) and protein rejection (98.5%) while maintaining a low protein adsorption (3.3 μg/cm2). Flameless combustion is considered as a flexible and efficient combustion process for low heating value gas fuel. This paper presents numerical simulations of premixed flameless combustion using producer gas as a fuel. Different initial conditions of the premixed fresh reactant (air/fuel mixture) and dilution levels are taken into account for the investigation. The numerical simulations were investigated using a network of chemical reactor models with the detailed reaction mechanism of GRI‐Mech 3.0. A threshold dilution level for flameless combustion fuelled by producer gas was determined. The numerical results show that dilution of the fresh reactant with hot combustion products and initial fresh reactant temperature play important roles in flameless combustion formation and its auto‐ignition behaviour, rather than equivalence ratio of the fresh reactant. In the flameless combustion regime, temperature and chemical concentrations were reduced while chemical kinetics process was decelerated, resulting in delay of the auto‐ignition process.  相似文献
