Using time-dependent density functional theory, we found that chemical functionalization at low concentrations of single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) locally alters the π-conjugated network of the nanotube surface and leads to a spatial confinement of the electronically excited wave functions. Depending on the adsorbant positions, the chemisorption significantly modifies the optical selection rules. Our modeling suggests that photoluminescent efficiency of semiconducting SWNT materials can be controlled by selective chemical functionalization.  相似文献

Irradiation with helium ions is an effective method for triggering ferromagnetism in graphite. Chemical inertness of helium suggests that local magnetic moment formation is determined solely by the intrinsic carbon defects created during the target damage. Interacting moments are located in two places: in the vicinity of the sample surface and near the point of maximum defect generation.  相似文献

We calculate the electronic local density of states (LDOS) of DNA nucleotide bases (A,C,G,T), deposited on graphene. We observe significant base-dependent features in the LDOS in an energy range within a few electronvolts of the Fermi level. These features can serve as electronic fingerprints for the identification of individual bases in scanning tunneling spectroscopy (STS) experiments that perform image and site dependent spectroscopy on biomolecules. Thus the fingerprints of DNA-graphene hybrid structures may provide an alternative route to DNA sequencing using STS.  相似文献

Accelerated weathering tests were carried out on wood–polypropylene composites containing minerals. Three different mineral fillers were studied: calcium carbonate, wollastonite and talc. Colour changes were evaluated after distinct periods; the total time of exposure of the composites to UV irradiation was 2000 h. The weathering resulted in significant colour fading of the composites. The composites containing mineral fillers had higher changes of colour (lightness) than the reference composite. Scanning electron microscopy analysis revealed deterioration of the polymer surface layer in all weathered composites. Exposure of the reference composite to UV irradiation resulted in the disappearance of the polypropylene surface layer and disclosure of wood fibres, which led to a higher drop in the lignin content of this composite compared to mineral-containing composites. A substitution of part of the wood with mineral fillers resulted in decreased water absorption and thickness swelling of mineral-containing composites, compared to the reference composite. Exposure to water immersion-freeze–thaw cyclic treatment and UV irradiation led to a decrease in the Charpy impact strength of the composites, except for the composite containing talc.  相似文献

This work presents the results related to the functionally graded fluorite (F)-perovskite (P) nanocomposite cathodes for IT SOFC. Nanocrystalline fluorites (GDC, ScCeSZ) and perovskites (LSrMn, LSrFNi) were synthesized by Pechini method. Nanocomposites were prepared by the ultrasonic dispersion of F and P powders in isopropanol with addition of polyvinyl butyral. Different techniques for deposition and sintering of functionally graded cathode materials were applied including traditional approaches as well as original methods, such as radiation-thermal sintering under electron beam or microwave radiation. Morphology, microstructure and elemental composition of nanocomposites was characterized by XRD and HRTEM/SEM with EDX. Even for dense composites, the sizes of perovskite and fluorite domains remain in the nanorange providing developed P-F interfaces. Oxygen isotope heteroexchange and conductivity/weight relaxation studies demonstrated that these interfaces provide a path for fast oxygen diffusion. The redistribution of the elements between P and F phases in nanocomposites occurs without formation of insulating zirconate phases. Button-size fuel cells with nanocomposite functionally graded cathodes, thin YSZ layers and anode Ni/YSZ cermet (either bulk or supported on Ni-Al foam substrates) were manufactured. For optimized composition and functionally graded design of P-F nanocomposite cathodes, a stable performance in the intermediate temperature range with maximum power density up to 0.5 W cm−2 at 700 °C in wet H2/air feeds was demonstrated.  相似文献

The mechanical properties, such as Young's modulus, Vickers hardness, indentation fracture resistance, room and high temperature four-point bending strength and SEVNB fracture toughness along with the stress-strain deformation behavior in compression, of 10 mol% Sc2O3-1 mol% CeO2-ZrO2 (ScCeZrO2) ceramics have been studied. The chosen composition of the ScCeZrO2 has very high ionic conductivity and, therefore, is very promising oxygen ion conducting electrolyte for the intermediate temperature solid oxide fuel cells. Therefore, its mechanical behavior is of importance and is presented in the paper.  相似文献

This paper reports about cotton textile modification by sol-gel technology with the purpose of obtaining antibacterial properties, evaluation of antibacterial properties and dermal toxicity tests of cotton textile with Zn and Si coating. Antibacterial properties evaluation against pathogenic microorganisms Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus, and Escherichia coli made using the Parallel streak method in accordance with ATCC147 standard. For more specific evaluation of the coated textile, in vitro cytotoxicity test with epidermal HaCat cells was done. It is concluded that the coatings containing Zn and Si obtained by the sol-gel technology can impart antibacterial properties against pathogenic bacteria to the textile by preventing the bacteria from growing; strong inhibition of growth was detected for all test microorganisms. Based on the dermal toxicity test results, it is not expected that the prolonged contact of the skin with coated textiles will have a negative impact on the skin tissue – epidermis.  相似文献

The oxidation of chromium at 300 °C was investigated in situ by ToF-SIMS for three different oxygen pressures (\(P_{{{\text{O}}_{2} }} = 2.0 \times 10^{ - 7}\), 6.0 × 10?7 and 2.0 × 10?6 mbar). Sequential exposure to the 18O isotopic tracer was performed to reveal the governing transport mechanism in the oxide film. The evolution of the oxide thickness was monitored. Volatilization of Cr2O3 was evidenced. A model was used to describe the kinetics resulting from the measurements. Both the parabolic and volatilization constants showed a dependence on oxygen partial pressure like \(P_{{{\text{O}}_{2} }}^{ - 1/n}\), with n = 1.9 ± 0.1, indicating a defect structure mainly consisting of oxygen vacancies. The re-oxidation in 18O2 shows a growth of the oxide layer at the metal/oxide interface, demonstrating an oxidation process governed by anionic transport via oxygen vacancies. The diffusion coefficient of oxygen in the oxide was determined by fitting the ToF-SIMS depth profiles. It is 2.0 × 10?18 cm2 s?1.  相似文献
