This paper summarizes the major results of the joint Indo-Soviet experiment for testing the Indianmhd generator channel section, designed and fabricated at the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Bombay, which was carried out at the U-02 facility in Moscow, USSR, in May 1980. The total test duration was 65 hours and included electrophysical tests and life tests under applied electric fields. The main purpose of the tests was to substantiate the physical concepts, computer codes, design features and special processing techniques involved in the development ofmhd generators for the Indian pilot plant at Tiruchirapalli. The experimental observations on the phenomena of heat transfer to the walls, gas dynamics in the channel, electrical characteristics of the generator and near-electrode processes including the analysis of arc spots correlate with the theoretical estimates based on present understanding of the physical processes occuring in similarmhd generators. The post-operational inspection of the channel section and extensive investigation of materials through microscopic analysis, chemical analysis and x-ray analysis are also reported in this paper. The joint test programme has clearly demonstrated the definite operating capability of the test section and has given sufficient information and encouragement for building better and improved channels for the future.  相似文献

Methodologies, modeling approaches, and the interactions between various system elements involved in inspection-allocation and sensor-distribution problems, that influence operational quality decisions, are discussed. The surveyed papers fall into two broad categories: inspection-oriented quality-assurance strategies and diagnosis-oriented sensor-distribution strategies. Within each subarea, individual papers are further classified according to the system characteristics of the physical processes being investigated and the modeling characteristics of the approaches being used. As evident from nearly 100 journal articles published in the past four decades, these two problems have received considerable attention from researchers in quality engineering, management science, operations research as well as robotic vision arenas. We find that the inspection-allocation problem has been studied rather comprehensively whereas the relatively new sensor-distribution problem has plenty of opportunities for researchers. Discussions are also presented to summarize our observations based on the classifications along with some thoughts on future research.  相似文献

An accelerated boundary cloud method (BCM) for boundary‐only analysis of 3D electrostatic problems is presented here. BCM uses scattered points unlike the classical boundary element method (BEM) which uses boundary elements to discretize the surface of the conductors. BCM combines the weighted least‐squares approach for the construction of approximation functions with a boundary integral formulation for the governing equations. A linear base interpolating polynomial that can vary from cloud to cloud is employed. The boundary integrals are computed by using a cell structure and different schemes have been used to evaluate the weakly singular and non‐singular integrals. A singular value decomposition (SVD) based acceleration technique is employed to solve the dense linear system of equations arising in BCM. Colour of light modulates the appearance of displayed artifacts in exhibition. To understand the effect of light on appearance of paintings, few studies have experimented to establish a relation between pleasantness with the correlated colour temperature (CCT) of light. However, some studies have found that CCT has no significant effect on pleasant appearance of painting. Therefore, in this article, an experiment with a qualitative (questionnaire on semantic differential scale, N = 30) approach was designed to understand the effect of CCT on appearance of paintings exhibited under LED lights. The findings from the experimental result depict that the appearance of paintings changes due to different CCTs of LEDs having the same illuminance. In addition, the result reveals that for both mediums of paintings considered in this study, in comparison to warm white LED and artificial daylight LED, cool white LED has appeared to be more pleasant having moderately warm feelings to the viewers.  相似文献

Many human acid tolerant bacterial and fungal pathogens can be transmitted through the consumption of the contaminated fruit juices. We aim to formulate essential oil nanoemulsions (basil, black seed, turmeric, clove & cinnamon), determine their ability to clear contamination by food borne bacterial pathogens from fruit juices. The antibacterial activity of the optimised formulations was tested in the fruit juices against bacterial pathogens causing gastrointestinal tract infections. The minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) of clove emulsions ranged from 15.6 to 25 μL mL−1. Cinnamon oil emulsion had an MBC ranging between 15 and 31 μL mL−1. At MBC, cinnamon oil emulsions caused a 6log10 decrease in viable counts by 8 h and maintained the sterility of fruit juices for 7 days at ambient temperature. Thus, clove and cinnamon microemulsions can be used as juice additives to control food borne bacterial pathogens and maintain the bacterial sterility of fruit juices.  相似文献

Boron nitride, which is also known as “white graphene” may be an attractive filler for composite proton exchange membrane. Application of polymer electrolyte membranes in fuel cell as an electrolyte is gaining attention due to the requirement of clean energy. However, despite its attractive features it requires more consideration for complete commercialization. Herein we demonstrate the preparation of novel functionalized WHITE GRAPHENE (hexagonal boron nitride) and sulfonated poly ether sulfone (SPES) based polymer electrolyte membranes (PEM). Composite membranes have been characterized through thermal, mechanical, structural analysis. Membranes have been subjected to measure methanol permeability and proton conductivity at different temperatures for its use in DMFC. Composite membranes exhibit good physicochemical properties as well as high methanol crossover resistance. 0.5 wt % of FBN (SP-FBN-05) membrane is found to be adequate to get the better performance in DMFC.  相似文献

The residual properties of concrete subjected to elevated temperature are of importance to assess the stability of the structure. This paper investigates the performance of concrete containing white ware ceramic sand exposed to elevated temperature. Concrete mixes containing 0%, 50%, and 100% ceramic sand were prepared. The specimen were exposed to elevated temperatures of 200°C, 500°C, and 800°C for a duration of 60 minutes. Their residual mechanical properties (compressive strength, split tensile strength), ultra sonic pulse velocity, and mass change for different cooling regimes were investigated and compared among specimen. The results showed that incorporation of ceramic sand in concrete mixes improved the resistance against elevated temperature of hardened concrete.  相似文献

The effects of different pH treatments with and without heating on the characteristics of wheat gluten suspension was investigated. At pH 1, maximum changes in colour were observed with a concurrent 65% decrease in protein free-thiol content compared to the control gluten. The SDS-Extractability of protein (SDS-EP) chromatogram eluted at lower retention time and the presence of bands at the top lane even during reducing conditions in SDS-PAGE gel suggested complex formation involving bonds other than disulphides. An increase in the free-amino group content and the presence of an additional peak at a higher retention time in the SDS-EP chromatogram was suggestive of hydrolysis. At pH 2 and 3, similar decreases in SDS-EPs and free-thiol content indicated formation of complexes. When heated, the free-thiol content of the dispersions increased compared to the non-heated dispersions indicating disruption of disulphide bonds with changes in gluten structure and size distribution.  相似文献
