The advancement of ultralong-haul transmission technology has dramatically enhanced the all-optical reaches. However, the actual situations of installed fiber and sites for terrestrial network often prevent implementing a purely transparent network, and thus, opaque reshaping retiming regenerating (3R) regeneration is required to guarantee optical signal reachability. Since 3R regenerators based on optical/electrical/optical conversion tend to dominate the total network costs, an efficient network design method that allocates a minimum number of 3R regenerators to optimum locations is essential to build a cost-effective photonic network. In this paper, we propose such a network-dimensioning method by combining the advantages of link-based and path-based design approaches. It first guarantees optical signal reachability for any possible traffic demand in each segmented linear link. After combining all the links, excessive regenerators are eliminated based on the optical signal quality check with -factor calculation for each wavelength path. A trial design of a large-scale mesh network demonstrated a significant cost savings of more than 30% in comparison with a conventional link-based design. In the trial, the impact of fiber loss coefficient over the total network cost was investigated quantitatively, addressing the importance of such quantitative modeling and analysis.  相似文献

The heat-balance integral technique is used to analyse a one-dimensional transient conduction process. Heat is transferred by convection to the surface of a slab and when the surface temperature reaches a certain value, an endothermic reaction is triggered which propagates as an isothermal front in the same direction as the conduction front. Two possible routes to the fully developed heat transfer condition are treated in a way which allows the approximate temperature distribution in the slab to be predicted as a function of the main process variables.  相似文献

Weak or non-existent institutions are often cited as a major constraint facing management of many lake basins in Africa. By their nature lake basins cut across many sectoral and jurisdictional interests and therefore it is always the case that management of the basins is affected by actions within the various sectors and jurisdictions. Because of the complex nature of issues within lake basins, authority over management of lake basins is dispersed among several institutions, with no single institution having overall authority. Under these circumstances, a major challenge in lake basin management is how to ensure effective coordination among the various players. This paper reviews the situation of lake basin management at eight African lake basins and draws important lessons about lake basin management institutions. It is noted that fragmented approaches, lack of coordination across sectors, and lack of monitoring and enforcement are major institutional weaknesses. Also, it is observed that political will and commitment are essential for the management of African lake basins.  相似文献

When natural fibres are dyed in supercritical carbon dioxide, the addition of a small amount of water increases coloration. For a process design it is important to know how much water has to be added to obtain a desired humidity of both textile and carbon dioxide. In this work a thermodynamic model is proposed to calculate the distribution of water over the textile phase and the supercritical phase as a function of pressure and temperature. The phase equilibrium is described with Raoult's law for non-ideal fluids. The absorbed water in the textile is a condensed phase and is modelled here as a non-ideal liquid, using the NRTL-equation. The non-ideality of the supercritical phase is described by a solubility enhancement factor, a new equation derived from statistical thermodynamics. Although the model is applied to cotton, viscose, silk and wool, it can be used for all water absorbing textiles.  相似文献

Calcium propionate was incorporated into a complete poultry feed and a feed concentrate at levels of 0, 0.3, 0.4 and 0.6%. The feeds were stored in 25 kg woven sacks in a feed mill. Air temperatures ranged from 22 to 34°C and relative humidity was in the range 67 to 93%. Mould growth was measured microbiologically and by measurement of feed temperature. Calcium propionate had a large effect on the microbiological measurements but only a small effect on heating in the feeds. As a preservative, it retained its activity for 6 weeks which extended the storage life by only 1 week in this case. The relative merits of the microbiological and temperature measurements are discussed.  相似文献

The analysis of piezometric levels, water inflows and hydrochemical data at the Donkin-Morien Development Project No. 3 tunnel has revealed a flow regime characterised by discontinuity networks rather than intergranular permeability. Above chainage 420 m, water inflows were encountered from a minor aquifer unit being recharged by percolation travelling down dip from outcrop. Below chainage 420 m, the inflows become predominantly more saline, with recharge occurring either vertically or down dip from seabed, while below chainage 500 m the disappearance of the aquifer unit resulted in no further inflows being encountered. A freshwater/saltwater interface was identified in the vicinity of chainage 420 m.  相似文献

Discusses the nature of autonomy and explores how autonomy as a therapeutic goal relates to clinical practice and the conduct of psychotherapy. Autonomy has been defined as the power to determine one's own best interests, and it has been criticized for promoting selfishness and reflecting upper-class values and gender bias. It is suggested that issues of autonomy are involved in the process of psychotherapy as well as its aim. In therapy, there is a dynamic tension between the principle of autonomy, the right of clients to determine their own interests, and the principle of beneficence, the therapist's obligation to protect the client's welfare. Whether autonomy is an appropriate ideal in psychotherapy for women or for men is considered. Feminist theorists have criticized aspects of masculine autonomy, contrasting it with feminine relatedness; however, the idealization of relatedness is questioned. It is concluded that the present conceptualizations of autonomy do not fully encompass the complexity of human interaction. It is argued that (a) autonomy and relatedness are not essential aspects of male and female nature but depend on power and status and (b) without social change, autonomy may not be a realistic goal of therapy for women. A three-phase three-switch buck-type pulsewidth modulation rectifier is designed for telecom applications in this paper. The rectifier features a constant 400-V output voltage and 5-kW output power at the three-phase 400-V mains. The principle of operation and the calculation of the relative on-times of the power transistors are described. Based on analytical relationships the stresses of the active and passive components are determined and the accuracy of the given calculations is verified by digital simulations. Exemplarily, a 5-kW power converter is then designed based on the analytical expressions and on switching loss measurements from a hardware prototype constructed with insulated gate bipolar transistor/diode power modules. The loss distribution of the components, the total efficiency, and the junction temperatures of the semiconductors are then evaluated in dependency on the operating point. Finally, the trade-off between the selected switching frequency and the admissible power range for the realized design is shown and a total efficiency of 95.0% is measured on the hardware prototype, where an excellent agreement with the theoretically evaluated efficiency is shown  相似文献

We study a mechanism for maintaining the strength of cement-bonded iron-oxide-bearing briquets when heated under reducing conditions. These briquets retain their strength when heated in a reducing atmosphere: up to 700–750°C, strength retention is due to the cement stone; strength retention under further heating is due to the continuous metal shell formed on the surface of the briquet as the iron oxide in the surface layer of the briquet is reduced to iron. Fabrication and usage of briquets of iron-ore concentrate can be recommended as a wash material for blast furnaces. Disperse materials containing SiO2 and MgO should be added to the charge during fabrication of the briquets in order to improve the washing properties of briquet slag.  相似文献
