Pig skin and wheat fiber mixture (PSFM) were assessed as fat replacers in frankfurter-type sausages. The addition of PSFM increased the moisture and protein content in the sausage because of the water binding capacity in wheat fiber and protein content in pig skin. The sausage sample containing 20% PSFM had 50% less fat, 32% fewer calories, and showed 39.5% less cooking loss than those of the control (p < 0.05). High PSFM content resulted in more stable meat emulsions and increased hardness, cohesiveness, gumminess, and chewiness. No significant differences were observed in color, flavor, tenderness, juiciness, warm-off flavor, and overall acceptability between the control and sausage sample with PSFM by the sensory panel. Therefore, PSFM could be used as fat replacers to obtain lower calories, and higher moisture, protein contents, and emulsion stability than in low-fat frankfurter-type sausages without PSFM. 相似文献

Polyhexamethylene guanidine phosphate (PHMG-P), a cationic biocide, is widely used in household products due to its strong bactericidal activity and low toxicity. However, it causes fatal lung damage when inhaled. In this study, we investigated why PHMG-P causes fatal lung injury when inhaled, and demonstrated that the disruption of membrane integrity through ionic interaction—a molecular initiating event of PHMG-P—determines toxicity. Mice were injected intravenously with 0.9 or 7.2 mg/kg PHMG-P (IV group), or instilled intratracheally with 0.9 mg/kg PHMG-P (ITI group); they were euthanatized at 4 h and on days 1 and 7 after treatment. Increased total BAL cell count and proinflammatory cytokine production, along with fibrotic changes in the lungs, were detected in the ITI group only. Levels of hepatic enzymes and hepatic serum amyloid A mRNA expression were markedly upregulated in the 7.2 mg/kg IV and ITI groups at 4 h or day 1 after treatment, but returned to baseline. No pathological findings were detected in the heart, liver, or kidneys. To simulate the IV injection, A549, THP-1, and HepG2 cells were treated with PHMG-P in cell culture media supplemented with different serum concentrations. Increased serum concentration was associated with an increase in cell viability. These results support the idea that direct contact between PHMG-P and cell membranes is necessary for PHMG-induced toxicity. 相似文献

Erythroid differentiation regulator 1 (Erdr1) has previously been reported to control thymocyte selection via TCR signal regulation, but the effect of Erdr1 as a TCR signaling modulator was not studied in peripheral T cells. In this report, it was determined whether Erdr1 affected TCR signaling strength in CD4 T cells. Results revealed that Erdr1 significantly enhanced the anti-TCR antibody-mediated activation and proliferation of T cells while failing to activate T cells in the absence of TCR stimulation. In addition, Erdr1 amplified Ca2+ influx and the phosphorylation of PLCγ1 in CD4 T cells with the TCR stimuli. Furthermore, NFAT1 translocation into nuclei in CD4 T cells was also significantly promoted by Erdr1 in the presence of TCR stimulation. Taken together, our results indicate that Erdr1 positively modulates TCR signaling strength via enhancing the PLCγ1/Ca2+/NFAT1 signal transduction pathway. 相似文献

An experimental investigation was undertaken to establish rheology-processing-property relationships in the tubular blown film extrusion of low-pressure low-density polyethylene (LP-LDPE). For the study, three commercial LP-LDPE resins, each from a different resin manufacturer, were used in producing tubular films, by employing the apparatus described in Paper I of this series. Both molecular and rheological characterizations of the resin were conducted, enabling us to interpret the tubular film blowing characteristics of the resins. Correlations were obtained between the processing variables (namely, blowup and takeup ratios) and the tensile properties of the films. The tubular film blowing characteristics of LP-LDPE and HP-LDPE resins are compared. Differences in the rheological properties (namely, elongational viscosity) of the two types of resin are used in explaining the experimentally observed differences in their tubular film blowability. 相似文献

Methanol selective oxidation to formaldehyde over a modified Fe-Mo catalyst with two different stoichiometric (Mo/Fe atomic ratio = 1.5 and 3.0) was studied experimentally in a fixed bed reactor over a wide range of reaction conditions. The physicochemical characterization of the prepared catalysts provides evidence that Fe2(MoO4)3 is in fact the active phase of the catalyst. The experimental results of conversion of methanol and selectivity towards formaldehyde for various residence times were studied. The results showed that as the residence time increases the yield of formaldehyde decreases. Selectivity of formaldehyde decreases with increase in residence time. This result is attributable to subsequent oxidation of formaldehyde to carbon monoxide due to longer residence time. 相似文献

The combustion characteristics of a mixture of anthracite and bituminous coal were studied in a 0.155 m i.d. fluidized bed
combustor (FBC). The properties of the pressure fluctuation for the bed such as the standard deviation, cross-correlation
function, dominant frequency and the power spectral density function were obtained through statistical analysis. To interpret
the combustion characteristics in the FBC with uniform or multi-sized particles of anthracitebituminous coal mixture, the
properties of pressure fluctuation were determined as a function of the particle size distribution and anthracite mixing fraction.
In the present work, it is known that the combustion region could be obtained from the analysis of pressure fluctuation properties,
and the mixed-firing of anthracite-bituminous coal is related to the reaction models of both coals and particle size distribution.
Moreover, the relation between coal size distribution and static mean pressure, and the ignition region could be obtained
