The olefin epoxidation is one of the most important reactions in chemical industry. Metal oxide supports often cause drawbacks in catalytic activity and selectivity, which has been overcome by introducing hydrophobic organic groups onto the oxide supports. The present study utilizes ordered mesoporous carbon (CMK-3 and CMK-1) as structurally defined hydrophobic catalyst support. Well-dispersed tantalum oxides supported on the ordered mesoporous carbon were prepared. Their application in catalytic epoxidation of cyclooctene demonstrates that the tantalum oxide catalysts on the ordered mesoporous carbon supports show higher performances than those of the catalysts supported on activated carbon and ordered mesoporous silica SBA-15.  相似文献

One of the most effective precipitation methods for submicrometer particles is the charged droplet scrubber. The dust collection in the charged droplet scrubber is considered to consist of some processes with respect to the interaction between charged dust particles and a charged water droplet. That is, the charged dust particles are attracted to, collide with, adhere to, penetrate into, rebound from, accumulate on, and reentrain from a charged water droplet. The direct observation of the collection process for dust particles by a charged water droplet was conducted by using the experimental setup designed by the authors. It was found from the experiments that particles with good wettability were captured inside the water droplet, particles with poor wettability floated at regular intervals on the droplet surface, and particles with medium wettability were trapped on or inside the water droplet. When particles were trapped on the droplet surface the growth of dendritic depositions was found, and their behavior was very distinct from those obtained on the fibrous filter due to the fluidity of the droplet surface. The deposition mechanisms of charged particles on the charged water droplet are discussed qualitatively.  相似文献

Information about breakdown time-lags under pulsed voltage stress is prerequisite to the insulation design of superconducting devices. Experiments have been carried out using a pulse generator which provides a step voltage with 200 ns rise time and a long decay time constant of more than 1 ms. The present experiments may bridge the information gap between time lag measurements in the ns range using extremely high field strengths, and existing data found with usual lightning impulse voltage. The neurotoxicity of the 42-mer and 40-mer amyloid beta peptides (Abeta42 and Abeta40) is closely related to the radicalization at both Tyr10 and Met35. Abeta42 is more neurotoxic than Abeta40. Our previous structural analyses of Abeta42 suggested that Tyr10 and Met35 are brought closer together by the turn at positions 22 and 23, and the S-oxidized radical cation at position 35, which is the ultimate toxic radical species, can be produced effectively through oxidation by the phenoxy radical at position 10. To verify this idea, their separation was measured by site-directed spin labeling (MTSSL) by using ESR spectroscopy. Among the three kinds of Abeta42 derivatives, which are doubly or singly spin-labeled at position 10 and 35, only 10,35-MTSSL-Abeta42 showed a clear dipole coupling in continuous-wave ESR; this suggests that the intramolecular spin labels at position 10 and 35 in Abeta42 are located within approximately 15 A. In contrast, 10,35-MTSSL-Abeta40 did not give such signals. The distance between Tyr10 and Met35 in 10,35-MTSSL-Abeta40, which was successfully measured by pulsed ESR spectroscopy was 30 A long. The difference in the distance between Abeta42 and Abeta40 could explain in part the stronger neurotoxicity of Abeta42 compared to Abeta40.  相似文献

X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy was used to investigate the effect of the composition and thickness of surface film on the electrocatalytic properties for chlorine gas evolution on amorphous Pd-Ti-P alloy in NaCl solution. The amount of charge for gas evolution exhibited a wavy change with an increase in polarization potential. The gas evolution became active with an increase in palladium content of the surface film and slowed down with increases of titanium and phosphorus contents of the film. However, despite the fact that the formation of surface film consisting mainly of titanium as a cation in the potential region higher than 1.6 V (sce), the catalytic activity for gas evolution increased, suggesting the change in the gas evolution mechanism in the higher potential region.  相似文献

Prion diseases are a group of fatal neurodegenerative disorders caused by accumulation of proteinaceous infectious particles, or prions, which mainly consist of the abnormally folded, amyloidogenic prion protein, designated PrPSc. PrPSc is produced through conformational conversion of the cellular isoform of prion protein, PrPC, in the brain. To date, no effective therapies for prion diseases have been developed. In this study, we incidentally noticed that mouse neuroblastoma N2a cells persistently infected with 22L scrapie prions, termed N2aC24L1-3 cells, reduced PrPSc levels when cultured in advanced Dulbecco’s modified eagle medium (DMEM) but not in classic DMEM. PrPC levels remained unchanged in prion-uninfected parent N2aC24 cells cultured in advanced DMEM. These results suggest that advanced DMEM may contain an anti-prion compound(s). We then successfully identified ethanolamine in advanced DMEM has an anti-prion activity. Ethanolamine reduced PrPSc levels in N2aC24L1-3 cells, but not PrPC levels in N2aC24 cells. Also, oral administration of ethanolamine through drinking water delayed prion disease in mice intracerebrally inoculated with RML scrapie prions. These results suggest that ethanolamine could be a new anti-prion compound.  相似文献

Thermoplastic polyurethane fiber webs were prepared using a laser‐heated electrospinning process combined with air blowing. The effect of spinning conditions such as air flow rate and air temperature on fiber diameter and molecular weight was investigated. Although the average fiber diameter decreased with increased air flow rate at each air temperature, the diameter increased when the air flow rate was >15 NL min?1. In addition, the fiber was comparatively thicker with an increase in the air temperature. The variation in the fiber diameter tends to increase with the air flow rate, and a reduction in the molecular weight of the fiber by thermal degradation was suppressed. The thinnest and most uniform fiber with a diameter of 0.9 µm and a diameter coefficient variation of 15% was obtained at an air temperature of 25°C under an air flow rate of 15 NL min?1. We have investigated the size dependence of crystallization within spherical microdomains formed in various poly(ε-caprolactone)-block-polybutadiene diblock copolymers (PCL-b-PB). The crystallinity (χ) and melting temperature (Tm) of the PCL block are considerably lower than those of PCL homopolymer, and χ decreases steadily and Tm decreases only slightly with decreasing radius of PCL spheres (R) for a series of PCL-b-PB with a same molecular weight (Mn). When PCL-b-PB is compared with the similar R but different Mn, χ is significantly different, suggesting that the sphere size is not the unique factor to control crystallization within spherical microdomains.  相似文献

Melt crystallization of isotactic polypropylene (iPP), containing crystallites of N,N′-dicyclohexyl-2,6-naphthalenedicarboxamide (DCNDCA) as a nucleating agent of the the β-phase iPP crystal, is carried out under a magnetic field (6 T) to obtain the alignment of the iPP crystal induced by magnetic alignment of DCNDCA. In a previous paper, DCNDCA was reported to undergo magnetic alignment in a liquid suspension. The obtained iPP sample exhibits alignment of the β-phase crystal with the c-axis aligned perpendicular to the magnetic field. The comparison of this alignment of iPP with the reported magnetic alignment of DCNDCA indicates that the β-phase crystal grows epitaxially on the DCNDCA crystal. The (330)β plane of the iPP crystal lies on the bc-plane of the DCNDCA crystal in which the direction of the c-axis of the iPP coincides with the direction of the b-axis of the DCNDCA crystal.  相似文献

We examined the existence of endocrine disruptors in mineral water, ultrapure water, and tap water. GC/MS analysis revealed that dioctylphthalate (di‐n‐octylphthalate and di(2‐ethylhexyl)phthalate) in the water was found to be on the order of parts per billion. The dioctylphthalate concentration remained consistent for mineral water of the same brand, regardless of whether it was bottled in a PET bottle or a glass bottle. Therefore, the dioctylphthalate contamination in mineral water originated from the manufacturing line of the mineral water and not as a result of leaching from PET bottles. Butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT), an oxidization prevention agent in plastics, was detected at 2.05 ± 0.1 ppb in the mineral water bottled in glass bottles, but was not detected in the mineral water bottled in PET bottles. BHT contamination in the mineral water in the glass bottles is likely to have originated from the cap of the glass bottles, as the caps were sealed with polyethylene. We further investigated the feasibility of separating dioctylphthalate and BHT from the mineral water by pervaporation using hydrophobic polydimethylsiloxane membranes. We found that trace amounts (on the order of parts per billion) of organic chemicals such as dioctylphthalate and BHT in aqueous solutions can be removed and concentrated by the pervaporation using polydimethylsiloxane membranes. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
