Trigeminal neuralgia is unilateral, lancinating, episodic pain that can be provoked by routine activities. Anticonvulsants, such as carbamazepine, are the drugs of choice; however, these possess side-effects. Microvascular decompression is the most effective surgical technique with a higher success rate, although occasionally causes adverse effects. The potential treatment for this type of pain remains unmet. Increased tetrahydrobiopterin (BH4) levels have been reported in association with axonal injury. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of tranilast on relieving neuropathic pain in animal models and analyze the changes in BH4 synthesis. Neuropathic pain was induced via infraorbital nerve constriction. Tranilast, carbamazepine, or saline was injected intraperitoneally to assess the rat’s post-intervention pain response. In the von Frey’s test, the tranilast and carbamazepine groups showed significant changes in the head withdrawal threshold in the ipsilateral whisker pad area. The motor coordination test showed no changes in the tranilast group, whereas the carbamazepine group showed decreased performance, indicating impaired motor coordination. Trigeminal ganglion tissues were used for the PCR array analysis of genes that regulate the BH4 pathway. Downregulation of the sepiapterin reductase (Spr) and aldoketo reductase (Akr) genes after tranilast injection was observed compared to the pain model. These findings suggest that tranilast effectively treats neuropathic pain.  相似文献

Titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanopowder (P-25;Degussa AG) was treated using dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) in a rotary electrode DBD (RE-DBD) reactor.Its electrical and optical characteristics were investigated during RE-DBD generation.The treated TiO2 nanopowder properties and structures were analyzed using x-ray diffraction (XRD) and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR).After RE-DBD treatment,XRD measurements indicated that the anatase peak theta positions shifted from 25.3° to 25.1°,which can be attributed to the substitution of new functional groups in the TiO2 lattice.The FTIR results show that hydroxyl groups (OH) at 3400 cm-1 increased considerably.The mechanism used to modify the TiO2 nanopowder surface by air DBD treatment was confirmed from optical emission spectrum measurements.Reactive species,such as OH radical,ozone and atomic oxygen can play key roles in hydroxyl formation on the TiO2 nanopowder surface.  相似文献

Current therapeutic options for the treatment of liver fibrosis are limited, and transplantation is often the only effective option for end‐stage fibrotic diseases. To overcome this problem, a nanoparticle‐based treatment as an alternative to transplantation is developed. Multifunctional organic–inorganic hybrid hollow nanoparticles (HNPs) containing silibinin are synthesized by mixing precursors in ammonia water at 60 °C for 1 min. The HNPs are mainly composed of siloxanes and disulfides and have surface thiols. The disulfides are cleaved by intracellular glutathione and reduced to thiols, leading to the deformation of the HNPs. Silibinin molecules are released through the cracks formed by HNP deformation. Furthermore, the HNPs suppress the generation of hydroxyl radicals, a major cause of liver fibrosis, via sulfenylation reactions of HNP thiols. Retinol‐modified HNPs target Kupffer cells and hepatic stellate cells, which are essential for hepatic fibrogenesis. The combined suppression of hydroxyl radical generation and release of silibinin using the HNPs decreases the proportion of fibrotic tissues and improves hepatic function. The therapeutic efficacy is greater than can be achieved by the suppression of hydroxyl radical generation alone and the injection of silibinin alone. Thus, HNPs are promising for the treatment of liver fibrosis.  相似文献

Monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) were prepared against the 8597/CV94 strain of turkey rhinotracheitis virus (TRTV). These mAbs were used to investigate antigenic relationships among three strains (8597/CV94, 1162/92 and CVL14/1 strain) of TRTV, together with polyclonal chicken and rabbit antisera to 8597/CV94 strain, and guinea pig antisera to each of the three strains. Thirty mAbs to the glycoprotein (G:3 clones), fusion (F1:6 clones), phosphorylated (P:6 clones), nucleocapsid (N:12 clones), and matrix (M:3 clones) proteins of viral antigen were obtained by cell fusion. Among these, two mAbs to F1 protein showed virus neutralizing activity. The results of ELISA test indicated that some mAbs only reacted to the 8597/CV94 strain, some reacted to 8597/CV94 and 1162/92 strains, and others reacted to all three viral strains. In neutralization tests with the three virus strains, polyclonal chicken and rabbit antisera against the 8597/ CV94 strain showed the same antibody titers. Results with four neutralizing mAbs including two previously reported mAbs [Ref. 21] indicated the titers of two mAbs (Pn2-2E and Pn3-2F) to 8597/CV94 were much higher than those to the other two viral strains. No differences were observed in the titers of the other two mAbs (Pn01-8E and Pn06-4D) against any viral strains. In cross-neutralization tests with polyclonal guinea pig antisera, there was some variations among viral strains. This work demonstrated that the Japanese isolate 8597/CV94 of TRTV is somewhat different in antigenicity from two British isolates from chickens and turkeys.  相似文献

Enterococcus spp. isolated from surgical infections during the period from July 1982 to June 1995 were investigated in a multicenter study involving 19 hospitals in Japan, and the following results were obtained. 1. Though the isolation rate of Enterococcus faecalis and other Enterococcus spp. were not high from primary infections, and from postoperative infections the isolation rate of other Enterococcus spp. was also low, the isolation rate of E. faecalis was highest from postoperative infections after 1993. 2. Vancomycin (VCM) showed strongest activity against E. faecalis, and followed by those of ampicillin (ABPC), imipenem. levofloxacin (LVFX) and meropenem in this order. Against other Enterococcus spp., VCM showed strongest activity, and followed by those of ABPC and LVFX. There were no resistant strains against VCM.  相似文献

Immobilized metal ion affinity chromatography (IMAC) for adsorptive removal of sulfamethoxazole (SMX) was investigated. Shell-core chitosan was applied as a support for metal ions and could successfully immobilize copper via ion-exchange ability of chitosan. The copper-immobilized shell-core chitosan has adsorption ability for SMX at pH = 4–6, due to the complexation between copper on the adsorbent and sulfonamide group of the SMX. The adsorbent was also applicable for chromatographic operation for removal of SMX. The SMX adsorbed was successfully eluted with deionized water, although a small amount of copper was also eluted from the adsorbent together with the SMX.  相似文献

Today, robots are expected to be used for the inspection of infrastructures such as bridges. One important task in bridge inspection is to acquire clear images of its various parts for further damage evaluation. However, this task has not yet been completely realized because of the complexity of bridge structures. For this situation, a UAV with a passive rotating spherical shell (PRSS) that can easily maneuver while protecting itself is introduced. In this paper, we explain the development of the PRSS unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) based on the design strategy. We then analyze its performance through simulated bridge inspection. Finally, we discuss the results of actual bridge experiments. The spherical shell has a size ( 0.95 m) and structure (fullerene) that is well‐suited for bridge inspection applications. It can also handle an impact equivalent to 2 m/s, which is more than the UAV's maximum flight speed. Test flight experiment also validated the characteristic of PRSS that shows a stable flight during disturbances. The image test also shows that the visual system can provide a full overhead view of the bridge. Likewise, it can detect a 0.1‐mm wide line that replicates the damage (e.g., a crack) from a position 0.5 m away and while the camera moves at 0.3 m/s. These characteristics have yielded a system that can acquire inspection images from critical parts of the bridge. An evaluation by third parties confirmed the effectiveness of the system. Further, the system satisfies the mandatory requirements of the Next Generation Robots for Social Infrastructure (NGRSI) program.  相似文献
