For the purpose of obtaining compounds which can remove nonionic surfactants in water, chloromethylated polystyrene (CMPS) was allowed to react with triethylene glycol monomethyl ether (3EGMME), tetraethylene glycol (4EG), poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) 200, 400, 600, 1000, and 1500. The amount of PEG groups combined with CMPS decreased with an increase in the molecular weight of PEG. The ability of the product to remove polyethylene glycol mono-p-nonyl phenyl ether (NP, n = 10), a nonionic surfactant, solutes in water was greater in the product with PEG of greater MW than that with PEG of smaller MW, and in the product with more PEG groups (mol/g prod.) than in that with less PEG groups. The removal behavior of the products conformed to Freundlich's adsorption formula. Constants of the formula, the effect of temperature on the constants, the effect of combined PEG groups on the removed amount, and the removal manner were studied.  相似文献

As part of the face recognition task in a robust security system, we propose a novel approach for the illumination recovery of faces with cast shadows and specularities. Given a single 2D face image, we relight the face object by extracting the nine spherical harmonic bases and the face spherical illumination coefficients by using the face spherical spaces properties. First, an illumination training database is generated by computing the properties of the spherical spaces out of face albedo and normal values estimated from 2D training images. The training database is then discriminately divided into two directions in terms of the illumination quality and light direction of each image. Based on the generated multi-level illumination discriminative training space, we analyze the target face pixels and compare them with the appropriate training subspace using pre-generated tiles. When designing the framework, practical real-time processing speed and small image size were considered. In contrast to other approaches, our technique requires neither 3D face models nor restricted illumination conditions for the training process. Furthermore, the proposed approach uses one single face image to estimate the face albedo and face spherical spaces. In this work, we also provide the results of a series of experiments performed on publicly available databases to show the significant improvements in the face recognition rates.  相似文献

Effectiveness of microwave heating in an activation treatment of zeolites was studied and utilization of zeolites for reusable desiccant was examined. X zeolite was chosen as a target material for its large adsorption capacity. Na-X zeolite easily caused a thermal runaway by microwave radiation of 500 W but Ca contained X zeolite merely reached ca. 573 K under the same conditions. Mixtures of Na-X and Ca-X with suitably mixed ratios did not cause the thermal runaway and their heating temperatures were controlled (>573 K) at will. Under the most suitable conditions, the mixture reached a dehydration degree of 92%. A degradation degree of adsorptive capacity of the mixture for water was examined after three treatments. The average degradation degree was 1.5% per treatment. The heating method is promising as a quick and easy technique to activate zeolite. By applying the method, the zeolites with suitable mixing ratios are usable as a reusable desiccant for home use.  相似文献

This study was undertaken to estimate the effect of dietary high oleic acid oil (OA) on 4-(methylnitrosamino)-1-(3-pyridyl)-1-butanone (NNK)-induced lung tumorigenesis in mice. Diet containing 10% oil was fed to mice through experimental periods. On day 30 after NNK injection (100 mg/kg body weight, i.p.), the treatment increased the level of prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) as well as proliferating cell nuclear antigen, a marker of cell proliferation in a high linoleic acid oil (LA)-fed group but not in an OA-fed group. The NNK treatment also induced the activation of an extracellular signal-regulated kinase (Erk) cascade (Erk, Mek and Raf-1) in an LA-fed group. On the other hand, OA feeding abolished the NNK-induced activation of the Erk cascade. In conjugation with these events, OA feeding reduced lung tumor incidence and tumor multiplicity (percentage of mice with tumors) in mice compared with LA feeding at the 20th experimental week. These results suggest that OA suppresses lung tumorigenesis and that this suppression is correlated with the inhibition of PGE2 production and inactivation of the Erk cascade.  相似文献

The texture of fibrous calcium hydroxyapatite (Ca10-(PO4)6(OH)2, CaHAP) particles that were prepared by the decomposition of calcium–ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (calcium–EDTA) chelates at 100°C under various pH conditions (pH values of 5–10) was investigated by various means. Well-crystallized fibrous CaHAPs were produced at pH .6. The stoichiometry of the CaHAPs with a chemical formula of Ca10− x (HPO4) x (PO4)6− x (OH)2− x (H2O) x was improved by increasing the decomposition pH. All the CaHAPs had unit-cell dimensions of a = 0.9436 ± 0.0003 nm and c = 0.6881 ± 0.0006 nm, exhibiting an enlarged a value. The finding of mesoporosity of CaHAPs by nitrogen gas (N2) adsorption measurement indicated that the CaHAPs were produced by an agglomeration of primary particles. Furthermore, the nonstoichiometric CaHAPs that formed at pH 6 developed ultramicropores, which were accessible to water (H2O) molecules but not to N2 molecules, by the elimination of H2O molecules that were adsorbed in interstices of primary particles in less-orderly crystallized CaHAPs and/or by dehydration of HPO42− groups. These findings by gas adsorption techniques could give evidence for the agglomeration mechanism to attain a polycrystalline CaHAP, although they exhibited good crystallinity with large size.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose a reality-oriented augmentation approach to support training activities. The approach aims at adding new value and playful features to traditional training environments with keeping their original look-and-feel. For example, a game monitoring service enables to automatically record game events so that players can review a gaming process and strategy for soul-searching, or replay most impressive scenes to share the experience with others after the game finishes. Even several services are running on background, digital devices and services are seamlessly integrated to the game environment in unobtrusive way so that players can concentrate on training as usual. The concept can be applied to both traditional games (e.g., poker and the game of Go) and non-gaming activities (e.g., calligraphy and drumming). We developed four case studies on the concept: Augmented Reality Go, EmoPoker, Augmented Calligraphy and AR Drum Kit. We discuss design issues in the reality-oriented augmentation process based on user study results.  相似文献

Electrically integrable, high-sensitivity, and high-reliability magnetic sensors are not yet realized at high temperatures (500 °C). In this study, an integrated on-chip single-crystal diamond (SCD) micro-electromechanical system (MEMS) magnetic transducer is demonstrated by coupling SCD with a large magnetostrictive FeGa film. The FeGa film is multifunctionalized to actuate the resonator, self-sense the external magnetic field, and electrically readout the resonance signal. The on-chip SCD MEMS transducer shows a high sensitivity of 3.2 Hz mT−1 from room temperature to 500 °C and a low noise level of 9.45 nT Hz−1/2 up to 300 °C. The minimum fluctuation of the resonance frequency is 1.9 × 10−6 at room temperature and 2.3 × 10−6 at 300 °C. An SCD MEMS resonator array with parallel electric readout is subsequently achieved, thus providing a basis for the development of magnetic image sensors. The present study facilitates the development of highly integrated on-chip MEMS resonator transducers with high performance and high thermal stability.  相似文献

A context-aware application in the pervasive computing environment provides intuitive user centric services using implicit context cues. Personalization and control are important issues for this class of application as they enable end-users to understand and configure the behavior of an application. However most development efforts for building context-aware applications focus on the sensor fusion and machine learning algorithms to generate and distribute context cues that drive the application with little emphasis on user-centric issues. We argue that, to elevate user experiences with context-aware applications, it is very important to address these personalization and control issues at the system interface level in parallel to context centric design. Towards this direction, we present Persona, a toolkit that provides support for extending context-aware applications with end-user personalization and control features. Specifically, Persona exposes a few application programming interfaces that abstract end-user customization and control mechanisms and enables developers to integrate these user-centric aspects with rest of the application seamlessly. There are two primary advantages of Persona. First, it can be used with various existing middlewares as a ready-to-use plug-in to build customizable and controllable context-aware applications. Second, existing context-aware applications can easily be augmented to provide end-user personalization and control support. In this paper, we discuss the design and implementation of Persona and demonstrate its usefulness through the development and augmentation of a range of common context-aware applications.  相似文献
