A novel fabrication route to make macroporous silicon carbide (SiC) has been proposed in this study. The route is composed of the following two steps: the fabrication of porous α‐SiC/novolac‐type phenolic composite using hexamethylenetetramine (HMT) as a curing/blowing agent for the novolac monomer and a conventional reaction‐bonded (RB) sintering of the composite. The α‐SiC/novolac‐type phenolic composite was carbonized at 800°C for 2 h in N2 gas and then reacted with the molten silicon at 1450°C for 30 min under vacuum, resulting in the macroporous RB‐SiC with an open porosity of 48% and relatively large pore size of ~110 μm. The compressive strength of the macroporous RB‐SiC was 113 MPa, which is relatively high compared to those reported for macroporous SiC of equivalent porosities and pore sizes.  相似文献

Intervertebral disc (IVD) diseases are common spinal disorders that cause neck or back pain in the presence or absence of an underlying neurological disorder. IVD diseases develop on the basis of degeneration, and there are no established treatments for degeneration. IVD diseases may therefore represent a candidate for the application of regenerative medicine, potentially employing normal human dermal fibroblasts (NHDFs) induced to differentiate into nucleus pulposus (NP) cells. Here, we used a three-dimensional culture system to demonstrate that ectopic expression of MYC, KLF4, NOTO, SOX5, SOX6, and SOX9 in NHDFs generated NP-like cells, detected using Safranin-O staining. Quantitative PCR, microarray analysis, and fluorescence-activated cell sorting revealed that the induced NP cells exhibited a fully differentiated phenotype. These findings may significantly contribute to the development of effective strategies for treating IVD diseases.  相似文献

The formation process of hollow spheres composed of nanosized Ca-α SiAlON particles was investigated using SiO2 starting powders with different characteristics in particle size, shape and crystalline state. TEM observations showed Ca-α SiAlON hollow spheres composed of a large number of nanosized particles in the products prepared at 1450 °C for 120 min in nitrogen. In all systems, the Ca-α SiAlON hollow spheres were always produced through an intermediate Si–Al–Ca–O liquid phase in the same mechanism, regardless of the characteristics of SiO2 starting powders used. Spherical solid particles consisted of amorphous phase containing Si, Al, Ca, O and a small amount of N were generated at the initial stage of carbothermal reduction–nitridation. These spherical solid particles changed into hollow particles with the progression of the reaction from the liquid phase to the crystalline Ca-α SiAlON with increasing temperature.  相似文献

ABSTRACT: In this study, we focused on the antihypertensive effect of newly fermented salt-free soy sauce (SFS) in spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHRs). A 13-wk oral administration of SFS was performed daily in 8- to 21-wk-old SHRs with a dose of 200 mg/kg of body weight/d. The systolic (SBP) and diastolic (DBP) blood pressures were measured for each week during the experimental period. As a result, a significant (P < 0.01) BP lowering effect was observed from the 5th d to the end of the experiment in the SFS group compared with the control group (ΔSBP21-wk: 27 mmHg, ΔDBP21-wk: 20 mmHg). In contrast to such substantial effect by SFS intake, angiotensin I-converting enzyme activities in blood and local organs as well as pharmaceutical parameters such as serum Na+ or K+ level did not show any significant difference between in both SFS and control groups. Vasoconstriction experiment using thoracic aorta rings from 21-wk SHRs provided an interesting result that the rings from the SFS group evoked a >2-fold higher increase in the angiotensin II-stimulated constrictive response compared with the rings from the control group (P = 0.012), which suggested that the SFS-intake would be effective in possessing a higher vessel tone. Practical Application: In this study, we investigated the antihypertensive effect of newly fermented SFS in SHRs. As a result of 13-wk SFS-administration, we found a significant antihypertensive effect of the SFS. This finding strongly demonstrates that the developed SFS would be greatly beneficial for health and useful for health-related industries.  相似文献

Translucent Al2O3 ceramics were successfully produced by slip casting using a gypsum mold, provided that CaSO4 impurities, which had penetrated into the green bodies from the gypsum mold, were removed by the wash of HCl aqueous solution. Some of the calcined Al2O3 compacts were washed with HCl aqueous solution before sintering the compacts and the others were not washed with HCl aqueous solution. The relative densities of the sintered Al2O3 ceramics with HCl treatment were higher than those of the untreated samples. Grains in the HCl-treated samples, which sintered at 1350°C, grew homogeneously with about 1 m in diameter. When the sintering temperature was higher, the grains grew homogeneously. The sintered Al2O3 ceramics with the HCl treatment were translucent. The transmittance value increased from 0 to 12% with increasing wavelength from 300 to 900 nm. The Al2O3 ceramics with the HCl treatment did not have the transmittance when the solid contents of slurry were low. The transmittance was influenced by the solid contents of slurry. On the other hand, grains in the HCl-untreated samples, which sintered at 1350°C, grew heterogeneously with the range from 0.2 to 2 m. The Al2O3 ceramics did not have the transmittance.  相似文献

To elucidate the role of neutrophils in the tissue damage of crescentic glomerulonephritis (GN), we examined neutrophils infiltrated in renal tissues and the localization of neutrophil elastase (NE), as a neutrophil-derived tissue destructive mediator, using an immunohistochemical technique with antibodies specific for neutrophils and neutrophil elastase; the enzyme histochemical technique (chloroesterase staining) also was used to detect neutrophils. In normal controls, neutrophil infiltration was scarce, and NE was localized in neutrophil cytoplasm. Neutrophils were abundant in crescentic GN and infiltrated in the glomerulus and interstitium; the infiltrating neutrophils were often aggregated. NE was localized in the cytoplasm of neutrophils and also appeared extracellularly (in granular or diffuse patterns) in glomerular necrotizing lesions, crescents, ruptured portions of Bowman's capsules, and in periglomerular and perivascular sites of the interstitium. Moreover, urinary concentration of NE measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) in crescentic GN patients was significantly higher than in normals (93.6 +/- 13.3 v 1.4 +/- 0.5 microg/g x Cr, respectively; P < .001). These data suggest that NE plays a significant role in renal tissue damage, especially in the formation of glomerular necrotizing and crescentic lesions and in periglomerular interstitial lesions of crescentic GN.  相似文献

Small (35 g) ingots of Fe?Si?O alloys have been solidified under controlled conditions and the form, distribution, and compositions of the oxides in the cast structures are reported. The composition of a melt was established by charging a preselected amount of silicon, 0.002 < pct Si < 0.7, and equilibrating the melt with the silica crucible at 1550° or 1650°C. The concentration of FeO and the morphology of the oxide particles in the cast structures indicate that during solidification the process of segregation causes the oxygen potential in the interdendritic liquid to increase over that in equilibrium with the silicon content of the liquid. It appears that nuclei for the formation of the oxide phases, which probably are in the liquid prior to the onset of solidification, become surrounded by solid iron and are made ineffective. It is possible at lower silicon levels that homogeneous nucleation may result by the melt becoming sufficiently supersaturated in oxygen to form FeO or an iron-silicate liquid phase.  相似文献

The equilibrium mechanical response of nematic elastomers can be soft or hard depending on the relation between the imposed strains and the nematic director, in particular, if the local nematic director is able to respond by rotating. The dynamical response proves to be equally unusual. We examine the linear dynamic mechanical response of monodomain nematic elastomers under shear and the aspects of time-temperature superposition of the dynamical data across phase-transition regions. In the low-frequency region of the master curves, one finds a dramatic reduction of rubber plateau modulus and the rise in internal dissipation: in the shear geometries compatible with dynamic soft elasticity. Power-law variation of the storage modulus with frequency G' proportional, variant omega(a) agrees very well with the results of static stress relaxation, where each relaxation curve obeys the analogous power law G' proportional, variant t(-a) in the corresponding region of long times and temperatures.  相似文献
