On-FPGA communication is becoming more problematic as the long interconnection performance is deteriorating in technology scaling. In this paper, we address this issue by proposing a novel wave-pipelined signaling scheme to achieve substantial throughput improvement in FPGAs. A new analytical model capturing the electrical characteristics in FPGA interconnects is presented. Based on the model, throughput and power consumption of a wave-pipelined link have been derived analytically and compared to the conventional synchronous links. Two circuit designs are proposed to realize wave-pipelined link using FPGA fabrics. The proposed approaches are also compared with conventional synchronous and asynchronous pipelining techniques. It is shown that the wave-pipelined approach can achieve up to 5.7 times improvement in throughput and 13% improvement in power consumption versus conventional delay-based on-chip communication schemes. Also, trade-offs between power, throughput and area consumption between the proposed and conventional designs are studied. The wave-pipelining approach provides a new alternative for on-FPGA communications and can potentially become a promising solution to mitigate the future interconnect scaling challenge.  相似文献

We examined factors influencing mercury concentrations in pre-breeding American avocets (Recurvirostra americana) and black-necked stilts (Himantopus mexicanus), the two most abundant breeding shorebirds in San Francisco Bay, California. We tested the effects of species, site, sex, year, and date on total mercury concentrations in blood of pre-breeding adult birds and used radio telemetry to determine space use and sites of dietary mercury exposure. We collected blood from 373 avocets and 157 stilts from February to April in 2005 and 2006, radio-marked and tracked 115 avocets and 94 stilts, and obtained 2393 avocet and 1928 stilt telemetry locations. Capture site was the most important factor influencing mercury concentrations in birds, followed by species and sex. Mercury concentrations were higher in stilts (geometric mean: 1.09 microg g(-1) wet weight [ww]) than in avocets (0.25 microg g(-1) ww) and males (stilts: 1.32 microg g(-1) ww; avocets: 0.32 microg g(-1) ww) had higher levels than females (stilts: 1.15 microg g(-1) ww; avocets: 0.21 microg g(-1) ww). Mercury concentrations were highest for both species at the southern end of San Francisco Bay, especially in salt pond A8 (stilts: 3.31 microg g(-1) ww; avocets: 0.58 microg g(-1) ww). Radio telemetry data showed that birds had strong fidelity to their capture site. Avocets primarily used salt ponds, tidal marshes, tidal flats, and managed marshes, whereas stilts mainly used salt ponds, managed marshes, and tidal marshes. Our results suggest that variation in blood mercury concentrations among sites was attributed to differences in foraging areas, and species differences in habitat use and foraging strategies may increase mercury exposure in stilts more than avocets.  相似文献

The performance characteristics of a new CH planar laser-induced fluorescence (PLIF) imaging system composed of a kHz-rate multimode-pumped optical parametric oscillator (OPO) and high-speed intensified CMOS camera are investigated in laminar and turbulent CH4-H2-air flames. A multi-channel Nd:YAG cluster that produces up to 225 mJ at 355 nm with multiple-pulse spacing of 100 μs (corresponding to 10 kHz) is used to pump an OPO to produce up to 6 mJ at 431 nm for direct excitation of the A-X (0, 0) band of the CH radical. Single-shot signal-to-noise ratios of 82:1 and 7.5:1 are recorded in laminar premixed flames relative to noise in the background and within the flame layer, respectively. The spatial resolution and image quality are sufficient to accurately measure the CH layer thickness of ~0.4 mm while imaging the detailed evolution of turbulent flame structures over a 20 mm span. Background interferences due to polycyclic-aromatic hydrocarbons and Rayleigh scattering are minimized and, along with signal linearity, allow semi-quantitative analysis of CH signals on a shot-to-shot basis. The effects of design features, such as cavity finesse and passive injection seeding, on conversion efficiency, stability, and linewidth of the OPO output are also discussed.  相似文献

Capping is a common remediation technology for the containment/stabilization of contaminated sediments. During capping activities, clean material is commonly released from a barge at the water surface and falls through the water column to the sediment surface, providing an uncontaminated surface sediment layer. Little information exists on the potential release of in situ contaminated sediments during and after capping operations. This paper focuses on the measured release of contaminants during capping events at Boston Harbor, Mass. (confined aquatic disposal cells for contaminated sediment) and Eagle Harbor, Wash. (creosote-contaminated sediment from a wood treating facility). The water column was sampled during capping events to evaluate whether cap placement resulted in the release of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH)- or polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB)-contaminated sediments at Boston Harbor, or PAH-contaminated sediments at Eagle Harbor. Though results at both sites indicated some contaminant resuspension during capping operations, in general contaminant resuspension was relatively low for all capping events. PCB and PAH concentrations for most samples were in the low ng/L range. The most significant releases occurred when previously uncapped sediments were initially capped, and the magnitude of contaminant resuspension decreased with successive capping layers. These results may have important implications regarding sediment cap installation techniques and their potential impacts on water quality. Resuspension during capping may be minimized by placing cap material in lifts, where the first lift provides a uniform layer of clean material using techniques that minimize sediment disturbance and subsequent lifts are placed more aggressively once contaminated sediment is covered.  相似文献

Neuron-machine interfaces such as dynamic clamp and brain-implantable neuroprosthetic devices require real-time simulations of neuronal ion channel dynamics. Field-programmable gate array (FPGA) has emerged as a high-speed digital platform ideal for such application-specific computations. We propose an efficient and flexible component-based FPGA design framework for neuronal ion channel dynamics simulations, which overcomes certain limitations of the recently proposed memory-based approach. A parallel processing strategy is used to minimize computational delay, and a hardware-efficient factoring approach for calculating exponential and division functions in neuronal ion channel models is used to conserve resource consumption. Performances of the various FPGA design approaches are compared theoretically and experimentally in corresponding implementations of the alpha-amino-3-hydroxy-5-methyl-4-isoxazole propionic acid (AMPA) and N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) synaptic ion channel models. Our results suggest that the component-based design framework provides a more memory economic solution, as well as more efficient logic utilization for large word lengths, whereas the memory-based approach may be suitable for time-critical applications where a higher throughput rate is desired.  相似文献

This paper describes the design and fabrication of a soft liner-retained, implant-supported overdenture used in 10 patients over a period of 1 to 6 years. A final complete denture impression is made of the dental arch, including implant abutments extending 5 mm above the gingival tissue. The master cast is fabricated with actual abutments placed in the impression. After the final wax try-in, the denture is flasked in the usual manner with the metal abutments in place. Before packing with acrylic resin, plastic tubing 1 to 2 mm thick is placed around each abutment. The denture is trial packed and allowed to bench cure over night. The plastic tubing is then removed and a soft denture lining material is placed in these areas only. The flask is closed and cured according to the manufacturer's recommendation. The denture is delivered as a conventional overdenture.  相似文献

A self‐assembled GeOx/reduced graphene oxide (GeOx/RGO) composite, where GeOx nanoparticles are grown directly on reduced graphene oxide sheets, is synthesized via a facile one‐step reduction approach and studied by X‐ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, energy dispersive X‐ray spectroscopy, electron energy loss spectroscopy elemental mapping, and other techniques. Electrochemical evaluation indicates that incorporation of reduced graphene oxide enhances both the rate capability and reversible capacity of GeOx, with the latter being due to the RGO enabling reversible utilization of Li2O. The composite delivers a high reversible capacity of 1600 mAh g?1 at a current density of 100 mA g?1, and still maintains a capacity of 410 mAh g?1 at a high current density of 20 A g?1. Owing to the flexible reduced graphene oxide sheets enwrapping the GeOx particles, the cycling stability of the composite is also improved significantly. To further demonstrate its feasibility in practical applications, the synthesized GeOx/RGO composite anode is successfully paired with a high voltage LiNi0.5Mn1.5O4 cathode to form a full cell, which shows good cycling and rate performance.  相似文献

Characterization of the electically and chemically hostile environment of an electrical discharge is basic to the successful application of discharge technology. The flow calorimetry of a low pressure hydrogen discharge is investigated as an alternative to other nonintrusive techniques. Energy flux measurements are used to estimate electron gas properties and probe details of energy transfer and electron-impact-induced kinetic phenomena. The estimates successfully resolve the effects of changes in gas pressure and flow rate on the electron density and energy profiles and also provide a quantitative evaluation of the contribution of a variety of kinetic and transport processes.  相似文献

Thin films of SiC and cordierite were deposited on Si (100) by pulsed laser evaporation (PLE) technique at various substrate temperatures. Auger, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and grazing incidence X-ray diffraction were used to investigate the stoichiometry, chemistry, and structure of the PLE-deposited films. The results indicate that properties of SiC films were affected by the substrate temperature. The SiC films grown at 25 °C were amorphous and were a physical mixture of silicon, carbon and very little SiC. The films deposited at 500 and 900 °C substrate temperature were polycrystalline SiC. The as-deposited cordierite films were stoichiometric crystalline.  相似文献

Constrained Cramér-Rao bounds are developed for convolutive multi-input multi-output (MIMO) channel and source estimation in additive Gaussian noise. Properties of the MIMO Fisher information matrix (FIM) are studied, and we develop the maximum rank of the unconstrained FIM and provide necessary conditions for the FIM to achieve full rank. Equality constraints on channel and signal parameters provide a means to study the potential value of side information, such as training symbols (semi-blind case), constant modulus (CM) sources, or known channels. Nonredundant constraints may be combined in an arbitrary fashion, so that side information may be different for different sources. The bounds are useful for evaluating the performance of SIMO and MIMO channel estimation and equalization algorithms. We present examples using the constant modulus blind equalization algorithm. The constrained bounds are also useful for evaluating the relative value of different types of side information, and we present examples comparing semi-blind, constant modulus, and known channel constraints. While the examples presented are primarily in the communications context, the CRB framework applies generally to convolutive source separation problems.  相似文献
