Observability analysis deals with the adequacy of the available measurement configuration for state estimation purposes. This paper considers methods to explore observability and to face unobservable situations. More explicity, first, the problem of unobservable networks is examined; strategies currently used are discussed and a more general method is proposed, to build a complete and reliable database. Second, topological concepts derived from observability are used to enhance the reliability of the bad data analysis under stringent identification conditions. Third, a concrete algorithm for observability analysis is proposed.  相似文献

Quenched phosphorescence detection is a sensitive detection method recently introduced in capillary zone electrophoresis. It is based on the dynamic quenching interaction of the analytes (quenchers) with a phosphorophore, 1-bromo-4-naphthalenesulfonate (BrNS), present in the separation buffer. In this study, it is shown that this detection method can also be used in cyclodextrin-based electrokinetic chromatography (CD-EKC) despite the presence in the buffer solution of cyclodextrins, which are known to reduce the luminescence quenching rate constants. Experiments indicate that BrNS mainly resides in the aqueous phase, while the analytes are distributed between both phases. In principle, the observed quenching might arise from the interaction of BrNS with uncomplexed as well as complexed analytes. However, from the dependence of the fractional quenching on the capacity factor (the normalized fractional quenching was found to be equal to the fraction of analyte in the aqueous phase), it was concluded that only aqueous-phase quenching contributes significantly to the observed quenching. Nevertheless, separation and detection can be regarded as fully compatible, because the capacity factors encountered in CD-EKC are generally low (in this study they ranged from about 0.1 to 2.5). Indeed, with nitroaromatic compounds as the target analytes, limits of detection in the 10(-8) M range were achieved.  相似文献

Based on the theory of approximation, this paper presents a unified analysis of interpolation and resampling techniques. An important issue is the choice of adequate basis functions. We show that, contrary to the common belief, those that perform best are not interpolating. By opposition to traditional interpolation, we call their use generalized interpolation; they involve a prefiltering step when correctly applied. We explain why the approximation order inherent in any basis function is important to limit interpolation artifacts. The decomposition theorem states that any basis function endowed with approximation order can be expressed as the convolution of a B-spline of the same order with another function that has none. This motivates the use of splines and spline-based functions as a tunable way to keep artifacts in check without any significant cost penalty. We discuss implementation and performance issues, and we provide experimental evidence to support our claims.  相似文献

Increased mobilization of non-esterified fatty acids (NEFA) from visceral as opposed to peripheral fat depots can lead to metabolic disturbances because of the direct portal link between visceral fat and the liver. Compared with peripheral fat, visceral fat shows a decreased response to insulin. The mechanisms behind these site variations were investigated by comparing insulin action on NEFA metabolism with insulin receptor signal transduction through the insulin receptor substrate-1 (IRS-1) pathway in omental (visceral) and subcutaneous human fat obtained during elective surgery. Insulin inhibited lipolysis and stimulated NEFA re-esterification. This was counteracted by wortmannin, an inhibitor of phosphaditylinositol (PI) 3-kinase. The effects of insulin on antilipolysis and NEFA re-esterification were greatly reduced in omental fat cells. Insulin receptor binding capacity, mRNA and protein expression did not differ between the cell types. Insulin was four times more effective in stimulating tyrosine phosphorylation of the insulin receptor in subcutaneous fat cells (p < 0.001). Similarly, insulin was two to three times more effective in stimulating tyrosine phosphorylation of IRS-1 in subcutaneous fat cells (p < 0.01). This finding could be explained by finding that IRS-1 protein expression was reduced by 50 +/- 8% in omental fat cells (p < 0.01). In omental fat cells, maximum insulin-stimulated association of the p85 kDa subunit of PI 3-kinase to phosphotyrosine proteins and phosphotyrosine associated PI 3-kinase activity were both reduced by 50% (p < 0.05 or better). Thus, the ability of insulin to induce antilipolysis and stimulate NEFA re-esterification is reduced in visceral adipocytes. This reduction can be explained by reduced insulin receptor autophosphorylation and signal transduction through an IRS-1 associated PI 3-kinase pathway in visceral adipocytes.  相似文献

A new algorithm to find the shortest path between a pair of nodes is presented. In one hand this algorithm expands the search from origin and destination simultaneously, on the other hand it uses a lower bound for the shortest path to guide this search. The Swelling Behaviour of Thermosetting Materials The moisture absorption of moulded materials can endanger a construction because of the change in volume of various parts. Therefore it is necessary to know the maximum possible swelling of the moulded materials employed at different relative humidities. The swelling of modified phenolic resin systems are described. Wood flour (which absorbs moisture) and powdered minerals (which in this case can be considered as inert) were used as fillers. Different methods have been developed to calculate the maximum possible swelling after a relatively short testing time (ca. 1000 h).  相似文献

BACKGROUND: Left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) represents an independent risk factor in patients with essential hypertension. Because reversal of LVH may be associated with an improvement of prognosis, the influence of new antihypertensive compounds, such as angiotensin II AT1 receptor antagonists, on LVH should be determined. METHODS AND RESULTS: In a randomized, double-blind trial, 69 predominantly previously untreated hypertensive patients with echocardiographically proven LVH, ie, left ventricular mass index (LVMI) >134 g/m2 in men and >110 g/m2 in women and/or end-diastolic septal thickness >12 mm, received either the angiotensin II antagonist valsartan or atenolol for 8 months. Echocardiographic data of 58 patients were available. After 8 months of valsartan treatment (n=29), LVMI decreased from 127+/-23 to 106+/-25 g/m2 (ratio [R]=0.83; 95% CI, 0.79 to 0.87; P<0.0001 versus baseline). Under atenolol (n=29), LVMI decreased to a smaller extent, from 127+/-25 to 117+/-27 g/m2 (R=0.92; 95% CI, 0.86 to 0.98; P=0.0082 versus baseline). The mean reduction of LVMI came to 21 g/m2 under valsartan and only to 10 g/m2 under atenolol (R=0.91; 90% CI, 0.85 to 0.97 versus atenolol). Baseline mean blood pressure values were determined to be 163+/-12/101+/-6 mm Hg before treatment with valsartan and 160+/-14/103+/-6 mm Hg before atenolol treatment. After 8 months of treatment, mean blood pressure decreased to 146+/-13/90+/-7 mm Hg with valsartan and to 147+/-18/90+/-7 mm Hg with atenolol. Nine patients in the valsartan group and 8 patients in the atenolol group required additional medication with hydrochlorothiazide. CONCLUSIONS: Antihypertensive treatment with the angiotensin II antagonist valsartan for 8 months produced a significant regression of LVH in predominantly previously untreated patients with essential hypertension. The drug may be safely administered in this subset of hypertensive patients; however, the long-term benefit in terms of risk reduction has still to be evaluated in further trials.  相似文献
