The stability of the electrocaloric effect under electric field cycling is an important consideration in the development of solid-state cooling devices. Here we report measurements carried out on Ba(Zr0.2Ti0.8)O3 ceramics which reveal that the adiabatic temperature change, polarization-electric field hysteresis loops and dielectric permittivity/loss show stable behavior up to 105 cycles. We further demonstrate that the loss in electrocaloric response observed after 105 cycles is associated with the migration of oxygen vacancies. As a result, the electrical properties of the material are changed leading to an increase in leakage current and Joule heating. Reversing the polarity of the electric field after every 105 cycles changes the migration direction of oxygen vacancies, thereby preventing charge accumulation at grain boundaries and electrodes. By doing so, the electrocaloric stability is improved and the adiabatic temperature remains constant even after 106 cycles, much higher than achieved in commercially available barium titanate ceramics.  相似文献

Polyelectrolyte blend films and membranes were prepared upon alternating electrostatic adsorption of polyallylamine hydrochloride (PAH) and mixtures of polystyrene sulfonate (PSS) and polyacrylic acid (PAA) in different ratio on solid supports. Infrared studies indicated that the PSS‐PAA blend composition of the films always differed from the mixture composition in the dipping solution, PSS being preferentially adsorbed. Films deposited on porous supporting membranes (polyacrylonitrile/polyethylene terephthalate) were studied on their ion permeation under diffusion dialysis conditions, and their flux and salt rejection under nanofiltration and reverse osmosis (RO) conditions. Blend membranes prepared at pH 1.7 exhibit a significantly improved anion separation and salt rejection, the ideal separation factor α(NaCl/Na2SO4) of a membrane prepared from a PSS:PAA mixture of 1:1 (w/w) being 197 ± 10 (pure PAH/PSS: 45). Glass ceramics are supposed to produce stable sealants between ceramic electrolyte and ferritic steel in planar SOFC stacks. The screen printing method is a suitable industrial process in order to produce layers with tailored height and width reproducibly. An appropriate suspension was developed for this application and improved by adjusting the additive composition. This study investigates the rheological behavior of screen printing inks and the corresponding topography of the printed layers. Rotary measurements were carried out to analyse the impact of shear rates on viscosity showing shear thinning behavior. In addition, oscillatory rheometry is performed to gain information about the viscoelastic properties of the slurries and to understand the internal structure of the developed inks. The viscoelasticity and the recovery behavior after shear loading are crucial for the topography of printed films. The principal investigations are executed on solvent-based suspensions, whereby the knowledge gained is used for a transfer to water-based systems allowing a more environmentally friendly handling.  相似文献

Six olive oils extracted from the cultivars Arbequina, Arbosana, Coratina, Frantoio, Koroneiki, and Picual from 2017 and 2018 harvests, cultivated in Pinheiro Machado, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, are evaluated for standard oil composition parameters and bioactive constituents (pigments, tocopherols, and phenolic compounds). Multivariate principal component analysis (PCA) and univariate ANOVA and Fisher's LSD test are used to verify the effect of cultivar and harvest year on oil composition. Olive oil composition met extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) standard parameters and is influenced by both cultivar and harvest year. EVOO produced in 2018 has greater chlorophyll, caffeic acid, ligstroside aglycone, hydroxyoleuropein aglycone, syringic acid, and hydroxytyrosol acetate contents than the EVOOs from 2017. Linoleic acid, ferulic acid, ligstroside aglycone, and hydroxytyrosol acetate are the variables whose contents most contributed to the differentiation of oils by cultivar in both harvest years. Chemical characterization analyses allow for the differentiation of oil composition based on harvest year and cultivar. Metabolic quality data obtained here support the establishment of a local EVOO profile and the compounds that most contributed to treatment differentiation may serve as markers that can be utilized in determining origin, cultivar, and harvest year. Practical Applications: Olive production in Brazil is recent and is based on European cultivars which have not been bred for the local environmental conditions. Therefore, the measurement of olive oil metabolic quality will determine cultivar adaptability to local edaphoclimatic conditions as well as assist in the establishment of a standard of identity for the product and promote the development of its market. Olive oil produced in Southern Brazil shows high quality, and is especially rich in phenolic compounds. Although harvest year influences oil composition, oil from both harvests meet EVOO standards and cultivar specific metabolic markers are observed. This study provides the foundation for olive producers in Southern Brazil to seek authentication of the geographical origin of olive oil.  相似文献

Selective targeting of DNA by means of fluorescent labeling has become a mainstay in the life sciences. While genetic engineering serves as a powerful technique and allows the visualization of nucleic acid by using DNA-targeting fluorescent fusion proteins in a cell-type- and subcellular-specific manner, it relies on the introduction of foreign genes. On the other hand, DNA-binding small fluorescent molecules can be used without genetic engineering, but they are not spatially restricted. Herein, we report a photocaged version of the DNA dye Hoechst33342 (pcHoechst), which can be uncaged by using UV to blue light for the selective staining of chromosomal DNA in subnuclear regions of live cells. Expanding its application to a vertebrate model organism, we demonstrate uncaging in epithelial cells and short-term cell tracking in vivo in zebrafish. We envision pcHoechst as a valuable tool for targeting and interrogating DNA with precise spatiotemporal resolution in living cells and wild-type organisms.  相似文献

The enzyme butyrylcholinesterase (BChE) represents a promising target for imaging probes to potentially enable early diagnosis of neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer's disease (AD) and to monitor disease progression in some forms of cancer. In this study, we present the design, facile synthesis, in vitro and preliminary ex vivo and in vivo evaluation of a morpholine-based, selective inhibitor of human BChE as a positron emission tomography (PET) tracer with a pseudo-irreversible binding mode. We demonstrate a novel protecting group strategy for 18F radiolabeling of carbamate precursors and show that the inhibitory potency as well as kinetic properties of our unlabeled reference compound were retained in comparison to the parent compound. In particular, the prolonged duration of enzyme inhibition of such a morpholinocarbamate motivated us to design a PET tracer, possibly enabling a precise mapping of BChE distribution.  相似文献

Sedimentation superimposed on industrial cake filtration leads to longer filtration times and often has a detrimental effect on subsequent process steps such as washing and demoisturing. The influence of sedimentation is seldom recognised in laboratory filtration experiments. Methods are presented for evaluation of pressure filter experiments with superimposed sedimentation which avoid the error made in the usual evaluation methods. For the case of zone sedimentation the article presents a graphical evaluation and a numerical method of modelling permitting scale up to any desired cake height. In superimposed classifying sedimentation simultaneous measurement of filtrate volume and cake height provide information about local variation in filter cake resistance. It is shown for a model system that, owing to sedimentation, the cake resistance shows a minimum at mean cake height and increases rapidly towards greater heights. The local cake resistance corelates with particle size distributions measured for layers of a horizontally cut filter cake. The method of evaluation presented permints determination of the flow resistance of the uppermost layers of a cake and hence estimation of the gas pressure necessary for demoisturing. The profiles of local filter cake resistance show that the relative cake layering is largely independent of the level of suspension filling. A scale-up model is presented for use in those cases where classifying sedimentation cannot be suppressed.  相似文献

Fluid flows with cohesive particles are present in oil industry (e.g. natural gas/oil with hydrates, wax or asphaltenes), medicine (e.g. blood cells), nano- and ferro-fluidic applications (e.g. fluids with nanoparticles subject to the van der Waals and electrostatic interactions) and even in astrophysics (e.g. grains in planetary rings). Such flows may lead to formation of agglomerates that, for example in pipelines, may result in unwanted phenomena such as formation of deposits. The main process parameter governing this is the “collision efficiency”, which is the ratio of the number of collisions resulting in agglomeration to the total number of collisions. This is commonly considered to depend on the relativemagnitudes of attractive and repulsive interactions during a collision. The effect of the particles' mechanical properties on the agglomeration efficiency has, however, not yet been studied. In this paper the agglomeration efficiency is studied as a function of inter-particle friction, stiffness, density and volume fraction by numerical simulation. By running direct numerical simulations (DNS) with Lagrangian particle tracking of a shear flow laden with solid particles, the parameters influencing the agglomeration efficiency are demonstrated and their effects quantified. Finally, an expression that relates the collision efficiency to the salient dimensionless physical parameters is proposed.  相似文献

The influence of processing on the microstructure and the dielectric properties of Co-F-codoped Ba0.6Sr0.4TiO3 (BST) thick-films has been investigated. BST powders with different particle sizes were prepared and applied on alumina substrates by screen-printing. The resulting thick-films were sintered at different holding times and characterized with respect to their microstructure and microwave properties. The microstructure of the thick-films shows a clear dependency on sintering time and initial particle size. In addition to grain growth, the formation of a secondary phase is observed at the interface between substrate and BST with increasing sintering time. The dielectric characterization at microwave frequencies shows an increase of tunability with larger grain size while the dielectric loss is even lowered. This shows the strong influence of the microstructure on the material properties and the possibility of tailoring the material through specific processing.  相似文献
