Renal fibrosis is characterized by glomerulosclerosis and tubulointerstitial fibrosis and its pathogenesis is associated with the activity of mesenchymal cells (fibroblasts), being essentially characterized by a process of excessive accumulation resulting from the deposition of extracellular matrix components. The aim of this study was to characterize the morphological presentation of chronic and fibrotic lesions in the glomerular, tubular, interstitial, and vascular compartments in feline CKD, as well as the possible participation of myofibroblasts in renal fibrotic processes in this species. Cat kidneys were collected and processed according to the conventional techniques for light microscopy, circular polarization, immunohistochemistry, and electron microscopy. Fibrotic alterations were present in all compartments analyzed. The main findings in the glomerular compartment were different degrees of glomerular sclerosis, synechia formation, Bowman's capsule calcification, in addition to glomerular basement membrane thickening and pericapsular fibrosis. The tubulointerstitial compartment had intense tubular degeneration and the immunostaining in tubular cells for mesenchymal cell markers demonstrated the possibility of mesenchymal epithelial transition and consequent involvement of myofibroblasts in the development of interstitial tubule damage. Infiltration of inflammatory cells, added to vessel thickening and fibrosis, demonstrated the severity and role of inflammation in the development and perpetuation of damage. Thus, we may conclude that fibrotic lesions play a relevant role in feline CKD and the mechanism of perpetuation of these lesions need further elucidation regarding the origin and participation of myofibroblasts and consequent mesenchymal epithelial transition in this species.  相似文献

A generalized technique for generating quadrature amplitude modulated (QAM) signals that permits nonlinear amplification is presented. With this technique a high-power2^{2n}-state QAM signal is generated by combiningnunfiltered, nonlinear amplified, QPSK signals,nbeing a positive integer. The specific methods of generating 16- and 64-state signals using this technique are presented. An attractive feature of the technique is that despite significant difference with the conventional method of generating QAM signals, the same straightforward demodulation techniques apply to both, and the PeversusS/Nperformances are essentially identical. In the 16-state version employing traveling wave tubes (TWT's) or GaAsFET amplifiers, the technique is shown to result in a transmitter output power advantage that is on the order of 5 dB compared to the conventional method. This advantage is achieved, however, at the expense of an additional output power amplifier.  相似文献

Oral administration of drugs presents important limitations, which are frequently not granted the importance that they really have. For instance, hepatic metabolism means an important drug loss, while some patients have their ability to swell highly compromised (i.e. unconsciousness, cancer…). Sublingual placement of an accurate Pharmaceutical Dosage Form is an attractive alternative. This work explores the use of the β-chitosan membranes, from marine industry residues, composed with marine sediments for dual sublingual drug delivery. As proof of concept, the membranes were loaded with a hydrophilic (gentamicin) and a hydrophobic (dexamethasone) drug. The physico-chemical and morphological characterization indicated the successful incorporated of diatomaceous earth within the chitosan membranes. Drug delivery studies showed the potential of all formulations for the immediate release of hydrophilic drugs, while diatomaceous earth improved the loading and release of the hydrophobic drug. These results highlight the interest of the herein developed membranes for dual drug delivery.  相似文献

We studied the electronic properties of phosphorus-doped silicon nanocrystals using the real-space first-principles pseudopotential method. We simulated nanocrystals with a diameter of up to 6 nm and made a direct comparison with experimental measurement for the first time for these systems. Our calculated size dependence of hyperfine splitting was in excellent agreement with experimental data. We also found a critical nanocrystal size below which we predicted that the dopant will be ejected to the surface.  相似文献

We report on the strong temperature-dependent thermal expansion, α(D), in CdS quantum dots (QDs) embedded in a glass template. We have performed a systematic study by using the temperature-dependent first-order Raman spectra, in CdS bulk and in dot samples, in order to assess the size dependence of α(D), and where the role of the compressive strain provoked by the glass host matrix on the dot response is discussed. We report the Grüneisen mode parameters and the anharmonic coupling constants for small CdS dots with mean radius R?~?2.0?nm. We found that γ parameters change, with respect to the bulk CdS, in a range between 20 and 50%, while the anharmonicity contribution from two-phonon decay channel becomes the most important process to the temperature-shift properties.  相似文献

Fluctuations in the electrical conductivity of polycrystalline Ho1−x Pr x Ba2Cu3O7−δ superconductors were investigated with Ho contents from x=0.01 up to 0.10. Samples were prepared by the standard solid-state reaction technique. The method of analysis is based on the determination of the quantity cs-1=-\fracddTlnDs\chi_{\sigma}^{-1}=-\frac{d}{dT}\ln\Delta\sigma, where Δσ=σσ R is the fluctuation conductivity. The results show that the resistive transition proceeds in two stages as seen by the temperature derivative of the resistivity near T C . In the normal phase, Gaussian and critical fluctuation conductivity regimes were identified. The pairing transition splitting, associated with Pr doping and related to the occurrence of a phase separation, as observed in studies with other rare earth elements, was not clearly observed. On approaching the zero-resistance state, our results show a power-law behavior that corresponds to a phase transition from a paracoherent to a coherent state of the granular array. This behavior was not affected by Pr doping.  相似文献

The recently proposed Six-Point Edge Crack Torsion (6ECT) test was used to evaluate the mode III interlaminar fracture of carbon/epoxy laminates. Plate specimens with starter delaminations in 0/0, 0/90 and 0/45 interfaces were tested. Data reduction was performed with an effective crack scheme validated in a previous numerical study. The tests allowed the evaluation of fairly unambiguous initiation GIIIC values and of subsequent R-curves. Examinations of specimen cross-section showed considerable lengths of pure interlaminar propagation in specimens with starter delaminations in 0/90 and 0/45 interfaces. The latter specimens had the lowest initiation GIIIC values.  相似文献

The hybrid-Trefftz stress element is used to emulate conventional finite elements for analysis of Kirchhoff and Mindlin-Reissner plate bending problems. The element is hybrid because it is based on the independent approximation of the stress-resultant and boundary displacement fields. The Trefftz variant is consequent on the use of the formal solutions of the governing Lagrange equation to approximate the stress-resultant field. In order to emulate conventional elements, nodal functions are used to approximate the displacements on the boundary of the element. Duality is used to set up the element solving system. The associated variational statements and conditions for existence and uniqueness of solutions are recovered. Triangular and quadrilateral elements are tested and characterized in terms of convergence, sensitivity to shear-locking, and shape distortion. Their relative performance is assessed using assumed strain Mixed Interpolation of Tensorial Components (MITC) elements and recently proposed Trefftz-based elements. This relative assessment is extended to a hypersingular problem to illustrate the effect of enriching the domain and boundary approximation bases.  相似文献

Titanium mini-implants have been successfully used as anchorage devices in Orthodontics. Commercially pure titanium (cpTi) was recently replaced by Ti-6Al-4 V alloy as the mini-implant material base due to the higher strength properties of the alloy. However, the lower corrosion resistance and the lower biocompatibility have been lowering the success rate of Ti-6Al-4 V mini-implants. Nanostructured titanium (nTi) is commercially pure titanium that was nanostructured by a specific technique of severe plastic deformation. It is bioinert, does not contain potentially toxic or allergic additives, and has higher specific strength properties than any other titanium applied in medical implants. The higher strength properties associated to the higher biocompatibility make nTi potentially useful for orthodontic mini-implant applications, theoretically overcoming cpTi and Ti-6Al-4 V mini-implants. The purposes of the this work were to process nTi, to mechanically compare cpTi, Ti-6Al-4 V, and nTi mini-implants by torque test, and to evaluate both the surface morphology and the fracture surface characteristics of them by SEM. Torque test results showed significant increase in the maximum torque resistance of nTi mini-implants when compared to cpTi mini-implants, and no statistical difference between Ti-6Al-4 V and nTi mini-implants. SEM analysis demonstrated smooth surface morphology and transgranular fracture aspect for nTi mini-implants. Since nanostructured titanium mini-implants have mechanical properties comparable to titanium alloy mini-implants, and biocompatibility comparable to commercially pure titanium mini-implants, it is suggestive that nanostructured titanium can replace Ti-6Al-4 V alloy as the material base for mini-implants.  相似文献
