Both total phenolic content (TPC) and total flavonoid content (TFC) of Labisia pumila extracts were determined spectrophotometrically. L. pumila leaves extracted in 60% methanol (MeOH) were fractionated on C18 cartridge and the antioxidant property of each fraction was determined by measuring free radical 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) scavenging activity. The 40% MeOH fraction exhibited the highest scavenging activity. Nine flavonols (quercetin, myricetin and kaempferol), two flavanols (catechin and epigallocatechin) and nine phenolic acids were identified from this active fraction by UPLC–ESI-MS/MS, and confirmed by comparison with the mass spectra of standard aglycones, theoretical fragments generated from MS Fragmenter software, and literature values. 相似文献

Pain management during dental procedures is a cornerstone for successful daily practice. In current practice, the traditional needle and syringe injection is used to administer local anesthesia. However, the appearance of long needles and the pain associated with it often leads to dental anxiety deterring timely interventions. Microneedles (MNs) have emerged as a minimally invasive alternative to hypodermic needles and shown to be effective in transdermal drug delivery applications. In this article, the potential use of MNs for local anesthesia delivery in dentistry is explored. The development of a novel conductive MN array that can be used in combination with iontophoresis technique to achieve drug penetration through the oral mucosa and the underlying bone tissue is presented. The conductive MN array plays a dual-role, creating micro-conduits and lowering the resistance of the oral mucosa. The reduced tissue resistance further enhances the application of a low-voltage current that is able to direct and accelerate the drug molecules to target the sensory nerves supplying teeth. The successful delivery of lidocaine using this new strategy in a clinically relevant rabbit incisor model is shown to be as effective as the current gold standard. 相似文献

A hybrid reflection-transmission surface light-scattering instrumental design is presented, examined theoretically, and tested experimentally. The purpose of the design is to reduce the sensitivity of the instrument to vibration in general and surface sloshing in particular while sacrificing little performance. Traditional optical arrangements and two new optical configurations with varying trade-offs between slosh resistance and instrumental simplicity and accuracy are examined by use of Fourier optics methods. The most promising design was constructed and tested with acetone, ethanol, and water as subject fluids. The test involved backcalculation of the wave number of the capillary wave examined with the known physical parameters for the test fluids. The agreement of the computed wave number was +/-1.4%. 相似文献

Cancer prognosis will benefit from a scoring system that could grade malignant traits of patient‐derived cells by assessing their growth and metastasis in a living system. Specific tracking of patient‐derived cells requires labeling by contrast agents with good signal‐to‐noise ratio and no specific stain of host tissues. Towards this aim, aggregation‐induced emission (AIE) dots are developed for in vivo cancer tracking with emphasis on reproducible optimized formulation and specific fluorescent labeling of cells that enable enhanced spatial temporal resolution in vivo. The importance of energy‐dependent AIE dots uptake for patient‐derived cell labeling is emphasized to reveal their specific uptake by viable cancer cells. Using optically transparent zebrafish embryo, the ability is demonstrated to follow the engraftment of transplanted AIE dot labeled cells in zebrafish brains over one week. Cells detected outside the brain after 7 d are quantified as metastatic cells. Results from seven clinical samples demonstrate the utility of this methodology to differentiate low engraftment level of benign neoplasms from higher engraftment level and metastasis detected in malignant ovarian cancer specimens. Achieving clinically validated results supports the use of AIE dot labeled patient derived cells in zebrafish xenografts for future cancer prognosis. 相似文献
