A research program addressed to evaluate the magnesium hydride storage scaling up effects is being developed by CESI RICERCA, Milano, and the Hydrogen Group of Padova University. A storage device containing 500 g of magnesium hydride powder (manufactured by Venezia Tecnologie S.p.A. using high-energy ball milling) has been designed and tested in different operating conditions. A number of absorption and desorption cycles at different temperatures and pressures has been carried out in order to see if the results are comparable with laboratory data obtained on small amounts (fractions of grams) of powder samples. A sensible performance degradation that reduced the overall storage capacity of about 50% has been noticed after 20 cycles, presumably due to local powder heating, fragmentation and subsequent compaction. Further tests on a smaller tank equipped also with a porous baffle gave useful indications for the design of an improved large hydrogen reservoir. 相似文献

The scope for diffusion of very low-enthalpy geothermal plants in the Piemonte region of Italy, using groundwater heat pumps (GWHP), was analyzed to check environmental sustainability and the benefits in terms of reducing greenhouse gas emissions from fossil fuels. GWHP implementation seemed particularly suitable to the specific characteristics of the Piemonte plain. An important thick and productive shallow aquifer is present across the entire plain beneath the major energy users and is therefore appropriate for geothermal energy development purposes. The building stock could be adapted to heat pumps in different ways, but objective-oriented policies will be required to reach the best results in terms of environmental benefits. 相似文献

Consumers are oriented towards fresh-cut vegetables that provide phytonutrients useful for preventing stress-related diseases. The aim of this work was to evaluate the cut operations on the quality changes of lamb's lettuce ( Valerianella olitoria L.) cv. Trofy during storage at 4 °C for 8 days. Results showed that chlorophyll and carotenoids reduction was observed after 8 days of storage. In both treatments, total carotenoids after 8 days decreased from 20 to 16 mg g−1 FW. Free and total phenols increased with storage in both treatments. Total phenols were 23% higher in control (32 μmol g−1 FW) compared to cut leaves (25 μmol g−1 FW) after 8 days of storage. Anthocyanins increased after 8 days and reached 30 mg 100 g−1 FW without significant difference between treatments. Ascorbic acid (AsA) and dehydroascorbic (DHA) acid increased in cut leaves compared to control. After 1 day AsA concentration was 3 300 nmol g−1 FW in cut leaves, while in control leaves was 1 500 nmol g−1 FW. Analogously AsA + DHA was higher in cut leaves, 4 100 nmol g−1 FW, while in control leaves the mean was 3 000 nmol g−1 FW. Transport properties of different liquids inducing crystallization in syndiotactic polystyrene (sPS) were investigated at 25°C. The weight uptake kinetics in the different liquids imply Fickian behaviour, with the exclusion of n-hexane and cyclohexane for which the weight uptake starts after an induction time. The equilibrium concentration of the different liquids in sPS is a function of the solubility parameter and shows a maximum with respect to chloroform, indicating a maximum in the polymer-solvent interaction. The swollen samples are birefringent but appear substantially amorphous on the basis of the X-ray diffractograms. After drying a well developed crystalline order appears, and the diffractograms indicate the presence of solvated structures, characterized by chains in helical conformation. 相似文献

The effect of loading method and stocking density in transit on meat and dry-cured ham quality was investigated in pigs with different halothane genotypes. A total of 507 Italian heavy pigs, supplied by two farms, were loaded by ramp or lift and transported unmixed for 35–55 min to the abattoir at a stocking density of either <0.4 or >0.6m2 per 100 kg pigs. After overnight lairage in separate pens with free access to water, the pigs were slaughtered. Halothane genotype was assessed post mortem. Four hundred and thirty-nine pigs had a homozygous dominant (NN) genotype and 68 pigs were heterozygous (Nn). Carcass skin damage, meat quality traits and ham curing parameters were evaluated. Loading method and stocking density showed a negligible effect on meat and dry-cured ham quality while the predominant factor affecting these was the halothane genotype. Nn pigs produced meat with a faster rate of pH fall and lower water holding capacity as well as ham with higher weight losses in salting and greater incidence of defects in the dry-cured product. There were insignificant interactions between halothane genotype and loading method or stocking density. Overall, irrespective of pre-slaughter treatment, the Nn pigs were less suitable for the production of high quality products such as dry-cured ham. 相似文献

The purpose of the work is to study by experimental analysis and finite element methods the mechanical response of a packaging, consisting of a corrugated cardboard container, used for the transport of fruit and vegetables. During the container design, three different configurations were selected which differ both in the choice of liner and in the type of wave. In particular, the type E, F and N microwaves were chosen. They are characterized by a lower amplitude than the high and medium waves commonly used in corrugated cardboard packaging, making it possible to reduce material consumption and, consequently, costs. In the initial phase of the study, experimental tests were performed to evaluate the mechanical strength of the liners. In addition, edge compression tests (ECTs) were performed to determine the stacking resistance of the structure. The break-in resistance of the structures was analysed using a test conducted according to an internal standard, called strength packaging test (SPT). Subsequently, a parametric study was set up with the finite element method for the simulation of the mechanical behaviour of the three structures, using the homogenization technique. The comparison between the maximum total deformations, measured experimentally and calculated numerically, has highlighted the need to introduce corrective coefficients to improve the homogenization of the wave structure. In this way, it was possible to improve the matching of the results obtained on the structures simulated by the homogenization technique and those obtained on the corresponding real structures. 相似文献

Social media provide new opportunities for supporting the dynamics of collective action (CA), allowing for the mobilisation of people into debates and involving them in new forms of collective decision making. Although current studies focus on opportunities offered by social media for collective action, there is still a need to deepen the understanding of how social media support the organisation of CA and to study the effects of individual actions performed on social media in complex organisational settings. We here explore how social media are used to manage CA by the Italian political movement Movimento Cinque Stelle, using the concept of affordances as the conceptual framing. Based on the qualitative case analyses, our study contributes to the knowledge base by identifying a typology of nine affordances supporting CA and exploring how the combined actualisations of some affordances of the typology create antecedents of the fundamental processes of CA. On the basis of the study analysis, we suggest a model to describe how social media support CA through affordances, their combinations, and the creation of antecedents and then formulate implications for research and practice. 相似文献

2D hexagonal boron nitride (hBN) is a wide-bandgap van der Waals crystal with a unique combination of properties, including exceptional strength, large oxidation resistance at high temperatures, and optical functionalities. Furthermore, in recent years hBN crystals have become the material of choice for encapsulating other 2D crystals in a variety of technological applications, from optoelectronic and tunneling devices to composites. Monolayer hBN, which has no center of symmetry, is predicted to exhibit piezoelectric properties, yet experimental evidence is lacking. Here, by using electrostatic force microscopy, this effect is observed as a strain-induced change in the local electric field around bubbles and creases, in agreement with theoretical calculations. No piezoelectricity is found in bilayer and bulk hBN, where the center of symmetry is restored. These results add piezoelectricity to the known properties of monolayer hBN, which makes it a desirable candidate for novel electromechanical and stretchable optoelectronic devices, and pave a way to control the local electric field and carrier concentration in van der Waals heterostructures via strain. The experimental approach used here also shows a way to investigate the piezoelectric properties of other materials on the nanoscale by using electrostatic scanning probe techniques. 相似文献

Cellular membranes have long served as an inspiration for nanomaterial research. The preparation of ultrathin polydopamine (PDA) films with integrated protein pores containing phospholipids and an embedded domain of a membrane protein glycophorin A as simplified cell membrane mimics is reported. Large area, ultrathin PDA films are obtained by electropolymerization on gold surfaces with 10–18 nm thickness and dimensions of up to 2.5 cm2. The films are transferred from gold to various other substrates such as nylon mesh, silicon, or substrates containing holes in the micrometer range, and they remain intact even after transfer. The novel transfer technique gives access to freestanding PDA films that remain stable even at the air interfaces with elastic moduli of ≈6–12 GPa, which are higher than any other PDA films reported before. As the PDA film thickness is within the range of cellular membranes, monodisperse protein nanopores, so‐called “nanodiscs,” are integrated as functional entities. These nanodisc‐containing PDA films can serve as semi‐permeable films, in which the embedded pores control material transport. In the future, these simplified cell membrane mimics may offer structural investigations of the embedded membrane proteins to receive an improved understanding of protein‐mediated transport processes in cellular membranes. 相似文献

A careful analysis of the vibrational spectra of two isostructural charge transfer systems with potential applications in optoelectronics, (perylene)3‐(TCNQF4)2, and (perylene)3‐(TCNQF2)2, highlights the presence of three strong infrared bands, polarized along the (perylene‐TCNQFx‐perylene) trimeric units present in the crystal. These bands are recognized as due to the Holstein, or electron–molecular vibration (e–mv) interaction. Use of appropriate modeling, based on the analysis of the frequency shifts due to the e–mv coupling, allows to extract the relevant Holstein coupling constants for the HOMO of the perylene molecule. The so‐obtained experimental values agree very well with density functional calculations, thus validating the results. The perylene relaxation energy, or small polaron binding energy, is about 70 meV, of the same order of magnitude as that of pentacene. 相似文献
