This paper reports experimental results for the viscosity of gaseous mixtures of HFC-134a (1,1,1,2-tetrafluoroethane)+HFC-32 (difluoromethane). The measurements were carried out with an oscillating-disk viscometer of the Maxwell type at temperatures from 298.15 to 423.15 K. The viscosity was measured for three mixtures containing 25.00, 52.40, and 74.98 mole% HFC-134a in HFC-32. Experimental results for the viscosity at normal pressures show a minimum as plotted against mole fraction in the higher temperature region, which may be the first experimental observation of the minima for dilute binary gaseous mixtures of HFCs. The viscosity at normal pressures was analyzed with the extended law of corresponding states developed by Kestin et al., and the scaling parameters were obtained for unlike-pair interactions between HFC-32 and HFC-134a. The modified Enskog theory developed by Vesovic and Wakeham was applied to predict the viscosity for the binary gaseous mixtures under pressure. As for the calculation of pseudo-radial distribution functions in mixtures, a method based on the equation of state for hard-sphere fluid mixtures proposed by Carnahan–Starling was applied.  相似文献

We employed AgNO3 solutions for doping Ag in liquid phase epitaxy (LPE) grown Hg0.78Cd0.22Te epilayers and found that the minority carrier lifetimes became longer so that the diode properties improved. After annealing LPE grown Hg(1-x)Cd(x)Te layers (x=0.22) in Hg atmosphere, the epilayers were immersed in an AgNO3 solution at room temperature. The typical carrier concentrations of holes was 3 × 1016 cm−3 at 77K. These values were almost the same as for the nondoped wafers. Also, its acceptor level was 3 to 4 meV. This shows that the Ag was activated. The doped crystals have lifetimes several times longer than those of the nondoped crystals. Numerical fitting showed the lifetime was limited mostly by the Auger 7 process. The Shockley-Read-Hall recombination process was not effective. To examine the Ag-doped wafer, we fabricated photodiodes using standard planar technology. The diodes have an average zero-bias resistance of several MΩ and a shunt resistance of about 1 GΩ for a 10 μm cutoff wavelength at 78K. These values are about four times higher than those of nondoped diodes. The photo current is also two times higher at the same pixel size. This shows that the quantum efficiency is increased. The extension of the lifetime contributes to the high resistance and the high quantum efficiency of the photodiode.  相似文献

Herein we propose a production scheme for conductive films composed of thin graphite sheets with high crystallinity and polymeric resin. The crystalline graphite sheets were successfully produced from natural graphite powder by solution-phase synthesis of graphite intercalation compounds (GICs), following a wet planetary-ball milling under mild conditions. The shear forces in the milling pot lead to a peeling of graphite flakes. Taking into consideration the interlayer bonding force, the delamination should be preferentially done from the expanded GICs interlayer rather than intrinsic graphite one. Some composite films derived from the phenolic resin and flaky graphite sheets displayed much higher electrical conductivities compared to the film from the feed graphite particles. We also demonstrate the stage structure of synthetic GICs affected the film conductivity. The composite films made from exfoliated products of ground (around stage IV) GICs exhibited high electrical conductivity with a small amount of the graphite sheets.  相似文献

Xanthine oxidoreductase (XOR) catalyzes the conversion of hypoxanthine to xanthine and xanthine to uric acid with concomitant reduction of either NAD+ or O2. The enzyme is a target of drugs to treat hyperuricemia, gout and reactive oxygen-related diseases. Human diseases associated with genetically determined dysfunction of XOR are termed xanthinuria, because of the excretion of xanthine in urine. Xanthinuria is classified into two subtypes, type I and type II. Type I xanthinuria involves XOR deficiency due to genetic defect of XOR, whereas type II xanthinuria involves dual deficiency of XOR and aldehyde oxidase (AO, a molybdoflavo enzyme similar to XOR) due to genetic defect in the molybdenum cofactor sulfurase. Molybdenum cofactor deficiency is associated with triple deficiency of XOR, AO and sulfite oxidase, due to defective synthesis of molybdopterin, which is a precursor of molybdenum cofactor for all three enzymes. The present review focuses on mutation or chemical modification studies of mammalian XOR, as well as on XOR mutations identified in humans, aimed at understanding the reaction mechanism of XOR and the relevance of mutated XORs as models to estimate the possible side effects of clinical application of XOR inhibitors.  相似文献

The monomeric multimetal-binding beta-galactosidase of Saccharopolyspora rectivirgula (srbg), a glycosyl hydrolase family-2 enzyme, has a unique sequence consisting of 192 amino acid residues with no similarity to known proteins. This 192-residue sequence (termed the "iota [iota] sequence") appears to be inserted into a sequence homologous to the active-site domain of the Escherichia coli lacZ enzyme (lacZbg). To assess the effects of the t sequence at specific sites of beta-galactosidase on the catalytic functioning and molecular properties of beta-galactosidase, deletion or insertion mutants of beta-galactosidases were constructed, expressed in LacZ- E. coli strains, and characterized: srbgdelta in which the iota sequence was deleted from srbg, and lacZbgI, in which the 192-residue iota sequence was inserted into the corresponding position (between Asp591 and Phe592) in the active-site domain of lacZbg. srbgdelta was a catalytically inactive, dimeric protein which retained multimetal-binding characteristics, suggesting that the iota sequence is very important for maintaining the structure necessary for the catalytic functioning and the monomeric structure of srbg but is not responsible for the unique metal ion requirements of srbg. On the other hand, lacZbgI existed as a mixture of a monomer, a tetramer, and higher multimers. The monomeric species was inactive, whereas the tetramer and other multimers were catalytically active (V(max )K(m) value, 25% of that of lacZbg) and highly specific for beta-D-galactoside. The tetrameric lacZbgI was activated by Mg2+ and Mn2+ with lowered metal affinities, and the stoichiometry of metal binding was unchanged from that of lacZbg. These results, along with the published stereo structure of lacZbg, suggest that, in lacZbgI, the inserted 192-residue iota peptide could fold independently of the lacZbg domains into a "sub-domain," lying distant from the active site and subunit interfaces.  相似文献

It is known that 1-deoxy-D-xylulose taken up by Escherichia coli is used as the precursor of the compounds synthesized via the non-mevalonate pathway, such as isoprenoids, probably after conversion into 1-deoxy-D-xylulose 5-phosphate. In this report, we show that a novel phospho(enol) pyruvate-dependent phosphotransferase system catalyzes the uptake and phosphorylation of 1-deoxy-D-xylulose.  相似文献

The design clue for the remote control of a mobile robot is inspired by the Talwar's brain-machine interface technology for remotely training and controlling rats. Our biologically inspired autonomous robot control consciousness-based architecture (CBA) is used for the remote control of a robot as a substitute for a rat. CBA is a developmental hierarchy model of the relationship between consciousness and behavior, including a training algorithm. This training algorithm computes a shortcut path to a goal using a cognitive map created based on behavior obstructions during a single successful trial. However, failures in reaching the goal due to errors of the vision and dead reckoning sensors require human intervention to improve autonomous navigation. A human operator remotely intervenes in autonomous behaviors in two ways: low-level intervention in reflexive actions and high-level ones in the cognitive map. Experiments are conducted to test CBA functions for intervention with a joystick for a Khepera robot navigating from the center of a square obstacle with an open side toward a goal. Their statistical results show that both human interventions, especially high-level ones, are effective in drastically improving the success rate of autonomous detours.  相似文献

This paper provides a comprehensive analysis of exactly what visual information about the world is embedded within a single image of an eye. It turns out that the cornea of an eye and a camera viewing the eye form a catadioptric imaging system. We refer to this as a corneal imaging system. Unlike a typical catadioptric system, a corneal one is flexible in that the reflector (cornea) is not rigidly attached to the camera. Using a geometric model of the cornea based on anatomical studies, its 3D location and orientation can be estimated from a single image of the eye. Once this is done, a wide-angle view of the environment of the person can be obtained from the image. In addition, we can compute the projection of the environment onto the retina with its center aligned with the gaze direction. This foveated retinal image reveals what the person is looking at. We present a detailed analysis of the characteristics of the corneal imaging system including field of view, resolution and locus of viewpoints. When both eyes of a person are captured in an image, we have a stereo corneal imaging system. We analyze the epipolar geometry of this stereo system and show how it can be used to compute 3D structure. The framework we present in this paper for interpreting eye images is passive and non-invasive. It has direct implications for several fields including visual recognition, human-machine interfaces, computer graphics and human affect studies. Recent attempts to protect hematopoietic progenitor cells from cytarabine (ara-C)-induced toxicity by transfer of the cytidine deaminase (CDD) gene resulted in efficient in vitro inducibility of ara-C resistance. Another enzyme involved in intracellular ara-CTP inactivation is the deoxycytidylate deaminase (dCMPD). We therefore transfected the human dCMPD cDNA gene into murine fibroblasts and investigated the relationship of forced dCMPD expression and resistance induction to ara-C. Several cell lines were established which demonstrated a 1.7-3.5-fold increase in cellular dCMPD activity and an up to 2-fold increase in the IC50 value of ara-C. However, increases in dCMPD activities did not show a positive linear correlation with the induction of ara-C resistance. In addition, CD34 + hematopoietic progenitor cells revealed the highest endogenous dCMPD enzyme levels among different human hematopoietic cells. Thus, despite the documented role for dCMPD in ara-CTP inactivation of certain cell types, these results suggest that the dCMPD gene may prove less useful than the CDD gene as a therapeutic target in attempts to attenuate ara-C-induced bone marrow toxicity.  相似文献

Covalent complexes of nucleic acids and proteins are widespread among viruses. Covalent complexes of RNA and proteins are proposed to exist in eukaryotic cells. The goal of this work was to obtain specific antibodies to the covalent linkage unit (CLU) between virus RNA and protein to search cellular RNA-protein complexes. Antibodies were generated by direct immunization of a rabbit with the BSA-coupled EMC virus RNA-VPg complex. By a dot-blot immunoassay and immunofluorescent microscopy it was found that the antibodies specifically recognize both EMC virus RNA-VPg and synthetic CLU-containing compounds. Thus, a fraction of the antibodies was directed to CLU.  相似文献
