Performance of a new low‐cost laser disdrometer with rainfall intensity correction in heavy rainfall

Recently, a new low‐cost disposable laser disdrometer with the capacity for hydrometeor imaging was proposed by the authors. The laser disdrometer has the drawback of detecting false raindrops, which are splashed droplets and pooled water drops on the housing. Actual raindrops can be sorted from false raindrops by their different fall speeds, but the large size and slow falling speed of false raindrops induce significant observational dead time, affecting the raindrop capture rate and the number density of the raindrops. The ratio between the actual number of raindrops and the total number of drops including the false raindrops provides a reasonable rain intensity correction. This report describes the performance of a laser disdrometer with rain intensity correction in heavy rainfall. © 2014 Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan. Model predictive instantaneous‐current control (MPIC), which was proposed in our earlier works, enables us to achieve better instantaneous current control using mathematical models of an inverter and permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSMs). However, dead‐time to avoid short breakdown in the inverter is not usually considered in a general inverter model. Such an unmodeled part in the inverter model prevents accurate prediction of current evolution in motor systems based on the model predictive control. Therefore, in this paper, we analyze current response resulting from the dead‐time in the MPIC, and propose a refined inverter model considering the dead‐time so that control performance is improved. It has been reported that solidification of the Al2O3–YAG equilibrium eutectic structure follows melting of the Al2O3–YAP metastable eutectic structure. Since the exothermic heat due to solidification was consumed by the endothermic heat due to melting, a fine and uniform eutectic structure was obtained. However, the composition of the Al2O3–YAG eutectic structure is restricted to the metastable eutectic composition. In this paper, Al2O3–YAG eutectic compacts with an off-metastable eutectic composition were prepared by the addition of Al2O3 particles to Al2O3–YAP eutectic particles with diameters less than 20 μm. In compositions ranging from 18.5 mol%Y2O3 to 13.5 mol%Y2O3, dense Al2O3–YAG eutectic compacts were formed without any Al2O3 segregation. The flexural strength and the fracture toughness remained almost unchanged with the increase in the Al2O3 phase. The addition of Al2O3 particles to the Al2O3–YAP eutectic particles enabled the matrix phase to change from the YAG phase to the Al2O3 phase. 相似文献

Localization protocol is important for estimating node positions in a wireless multi-hop network. Routing protocol is also important for controlling paths. In previous research, localization and routing protocols have been discussed and evaluated separately. In this paper, we propose an integrated protocol for optimized link state routing (OLSR) and OLSR based localization (ROULA). Our protocol enables simultaneous localization and routing. ROULA’s localization is performed using OLSR overhead such as hello packets and routing tables. The routing overheads and the processing procedures can be efficiently integrated. We demonstrate that the integrated protocol for ROULA and OLSR enables simultaneous localization and routing. 相似文献

A Ni-18Cr-16Fe-5Nb-3Mo alloy (a modified alloy 718, referred to herein as 718M), in which the γ″ phase is the only precipitation-strengthening phase, was made by substituting most of the aluminum and titanium in INCONEL
718 with niobium. The specimens of alloy 718M were solid-solution heat treated, aged at 1033 to 1073 K for up to 360 ks, and
cold rolled to a reduction of 10 to 15 pct at room temperature. After subsequent annealing heat treatments, at the same temperatures
used for aging, the morphological and structural changes of the γ″ precipitates were investigated by transmission electron microscopic observation using carbon extraction replicas. Although
stacking faults were not noticed in the γ″ precipitates extracted from the aged 718M alloy, stacking faults introduced in the {112}
γ″
planes by cold rolling of the samples were confirmed. The stripelike contrast due to the stacking faults becomes less clear
with increasing annealing time. With longer annealing times, necking occurs between the stripes, which eventually separate
into plural particles. The selected-area electron diffraction (SAED) patterns of the cold-rolled and annealed particles show
that the metastable γ″ precipitates with stacking faults are transformed gradually into a stable δ phase. In this article, we discuss the basis of morphological and structural changes in detail.

Surface of an InAs wetting layer on GaAs(001) preceding InAs quantum dot (QD) formation was observed at 300°C with in situ
scanning tunneling microscopy (STM). Domains of (1 × 3)/(2 × 3) and (2 × 4) surface reconstructions were located in the STM
image. The density of each surface reconstruction domain was comparable to that of subsequently nucleated QD precursors. The
distribution of the domains was statistically investigated in terms of spatial point patterns. It was found that the domains
were distributed in an ordered pattern rather than a random pattern. It implied the possibility that QD nucleation sites are
