This paper illustrates a design procedure for a linearly interpolated gain scheduling controller for Engineering Test Satellite VIII (ETS-VIII) using its linear parameter-varying (LPV) model. The LPV model here consists of piecewise-linear functions of the paddle rotation angle and a norm-bounded perturbation. The main purpose of this research is to derive a simple structured scheduling law that can be easily implemented in a satellite onboard computer. The derived gain has only two grid points and is scheduled simply by linear interpolation, which is desirable from the standpoint of implementability. Moreover, since the synthesis condition is based on parameter-dependent Lyapunov functions, it gives less conservative results than existing methods. Simulation results are presented to show the effectiveness of the proposed synthesis.  相似文献

In this research, we propose and evaluate a decision support system using an interactive large-scale high-resolution display. This decision support system supports the summarization and decision-making of a large amount of disaster information during the occurrence of a large-scale natural disaster. Municipal employees at the disaster control headquarters can display disaster information on the large-scale display with a touch or flick on a laptop or tablet. To evaluate the operability, readability, functionality, and necessity of the decision support system, we surveyed 23 municipal employees in the disaster prevention division using a questionnaire. The system received a great evaluation in all the evaluation items.  相似文献

Photo‐realistic rendering of inhomogeneous participating media with light scattering in consideration is important in computer graphics, and is typically computed using Monte Carlo based methods. The key technique in such methods is the free path sampling, which is used for determining the distance (free path) between successive scattering events. Recently, it has been shown that efficient and unbiased free path sampling methods can be constructed based on Woodcock tracking. The key concept for improving the efficiency is to utilize space partitioning (e.g., kd‐tree or uniform grid), and a better space partitioning scheme is important for better sampling efficiency. Thus, an estimation framework for investigating the gain in sampling efficiency is important for determining how to partition the space. However, currently, there is no estimation framework that works in 3D space. In this paper, we propose a new estimation framework to overcome this problem. Using our framework, we can analytically estimate the sampling efficiency for any typical partitioned space. Conversely, we can also use this estimation framework for determining the optimal space partitioning. As an application, we show that new space partitioning schemes can be constructed using our estimation framework. Moreover, we show that the differences in the performances using different schemes can be predicted fairly well using our estimation framework.  相似文献

The statistical information processing can be characterized by the likelihood function defined by giving an explicit form for an approximation to the true distribution. This mathematical representation, which is usually called a model, is built based on not only the current data but also prior knowledge on the object and the objective of the analysis. Akaike2,3) showed that the log-likelihood can be considered as an estimate of the Kullback-Leibler (K-L) information which measures the similarity between the predictive distribution of the model and the true distribution. Akaike information criterion (AIC) is an estimate of the K-L information and makes it possible to evaluate and compare the goodness of many models objectively. In consequence, the minimum AIC procedure allows us to develop automatic modeling and signal extraction procedures. In this article, we give a simple explanation of statistical modeling based on the AIC and demonstrate four examples of applying the minimum AIC procedure to an automatic transaction of signals observed in the earth sciences. Genshiro, Kitagawa, Ph.D.: He is a Professor in the Department of Prediction and Control at the Institute of Statistical Mathematics. He is currently Deputy Director of the Institute of Statistical Mathematics and Professor of Statistical Science at the Graduate University for Advanced Study. He obtained his Ph.D. from the Kyushu University in 1983. His primary research interests are in time series analysis, non-Gaussian nonlinear filtering, and statistical modeling. He has published over 50 research papers. He was awarded the 2nd Japan Statistical Society Prize in 1997. Tomoyuki Higuchi, Ph.D.: He is an Associate Professor in the Department of Prediction and Control at the Institute of Statistical Mathematics. He is currently an Associate Professor of Statistical Science at the Graduate University for Advanced Study. He obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Tokyo in 1989. His research interests are in statistical modeling of space-time data, stochastic optimization techniques, and data mining. He has published over 30 research papers.  相似文献

This paper describes a transient cooling technology for electronic equipments using phase-change material (PCM). The module is made of low-cost materials, yet it is designed to achieve a reasonably high level of heat transfer performance. Paraffin is used as the PCM. In previous our report, we can estimate the cooling performance of PCM by using a thermal network method, which cannot calculate melted PCM flow. In this paper, we consider the heat transfer phenomena of PCM module more deeply by using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis with an enthalpy porosity method. By using this method, we can calculate phase-change phenomena and flow phenomena of melted PCM with CFD analysis. First, we briefly explain the results of the experiment and the thermal network analysis. Then we describe the details of CFD analysis with the enthalpy porosity method. In this calculation, melted PCM flow and heat absorption of latent heat can be analyzed. Therefore, we can discuss the reason why the thermal network analysis can estimate cooling performance of PCM module without dealing with melted PCM flow. The calculation results showed that natural convective flow of melted PCM affects the cooling performance of the PCM module. In the case where the PCM module is set vertically, high temperature and low temperature locations exist on the substrate. If several devices are cooled with the PCM module, device consuming the most power must be set in the lower part of the PCM module. From these results, we can conclude that no natural convective flow occurs in our experiment due to the shape of the PCM module.  相似文献

Abstract: Sorghum bagasse samples from two sets (n6 and bmr6; n18 and bmr18) of wild-type and corresponding “brown midrib” (bmr) mutant strains of sweet sorghum were evaluated as the feedstock for fermentable sugar recovery via the calcium capturing by carbonation (CaCCO) process, which involves Ca(OH)2 pretreatment of bagasse with subsequent neutralization with CO2 for enzymatic saccharification. Saccharification tests under various pretreatment conditions of the CaCCO process at different Ca(OH)2 concentrations, temperatures or residence periods indicated that bmr strains are more sensitive to the pretreatment than their counterparts are. It is expected that variant bmr6 is more suitable for glucose recovery than its wild-type counterpart because of the higher glucan content and better glucose recovery with less severe pretreatment. Meanwhile, bmr18showed higher scores of glucose recovery than its counterpart did, only at low pretreatment severity, and did not yield higher sugar recovery under the more severe conditions. The trend was similar to that of xylose recovery data from the two bmr strains. The advantages of bmr strains were also proven by means of simultaneous saccharification and fermentation of CaCCO-pretreated bagasse samples by pentose-fermenting yeast strain Candida shehatae Cs 4R. The amounts needed for production of 1 L of ethanol from n6, bmr6, n18, and bmr18samples were estimated as 4.11, 3.46, 4.03, and 3.95 kg, respectively. The bmr strains seem to have excellent compatibility with the CaCCO process for ethanol production, and it is expected that integrated research from the feedstock to bioprocess may result in breakthroughs for commercialization.  相似文献

Using multi-anvil high-pressure devices and synchrotron radiation, X-ray in situ observations of HfO2 under high pressure and high temperature have been performed to investigate its phase relations and compression behavior. An orthorhombic phase (orthoI) is stable from 4 to 14.5 GPa below 1250°–1400°C and transforms to a tetragonal phase, which is one of the high-temperature forms of HfO2, above these temperatures. Another orthorhombic phase (orthoII) with a cotunnite-type structure appears above 14.5 GPa. OrthoII is stable up to 1800°C at 21 GPa. OrthoII is quenchable to ambient conditions. The orthoI-to-orthoII transition is accompanied by ∼8 vol% decrease. The bulk moduli of orthoI and orthoII at room temperature are 220 and 312 GPa, respectively. This low compressibility of orthoII indicates that it is a potential candidate for very hard materials.  相似文献

It is well known that weld residual stress and distortion should be controlled appropriately for structural integrity. Recently, it has become much more necessary to control weld distortion to highly improve manufacturing efficiency. Various studies on control of weld distortion had been conducted based on clarification of influential dominant factors for that. The influential dominant factors had been studied from a viewpoint of temperature distribution in plate thickness section. Without considering moving the weld heat source, the temperature distribution is controlled by weld heat input (Qnet) per weld length. Angular distortion, which is controlled by temperature distribution along the direction of plate thickness (h), is controlled by heat input parameter (Qnet/h2). However, it has recently become known that the conventional results cannot be applied to all welding processes because such processes are becoming more diversified. It is significant for more accurate control of angular distortion to investigate once again the relationship between the heat input parameter and angular distortion. In this study, a series of experiments on the relationship between heat input parameter and angular distortion are carried out. The effects of welding current and welding speed are investigated individually in both TIG and MAG welding. The difference between these welding methods is also investigated. Based on the result, the effects of them are discussed in relation to temperature distribution during welding. It is considered that angular distortion is affected by temperature distribution not only in plate thickness section but also along welding direction. So, angular distortion is not always controlled by only the conventional heat input parameter because the heat input parameter is proposed as the influential dominant factor for temperature distribution in plate thickness section. It is concluded that generation characteristics of inherent strain should be considered in relation to three-dimensional temperature distributions during welding for more accurate control of angular distortion.  相似文献
