Investigations of the validity of labeling regarding genetically modified (GM) products were conducted using polymerase chain reaction (PCR) methods for foreign-made processed foods made from corn and potato purchased in the Tokyo area and in the USA. Several kinds of GM crops were detected in 12 of 32 samples of processed corn samples. More than two GM events for which safety reviews have been completed in Japan were simultaneously detected in 10 samples. GM events MON810 and Bt11 were most frequently detected in the samples by qualitative PCR methods. MON810 was detected in 11 of the 12 samples, and Bt11 was detected in 6 of the 12 samples. In addition, Roundup Ready soy was detected in one of the 12 samples. On the other hand, CBH351, for which the safety assessment was withdrawn in Japan, was not detected in any of the 12 samples. A trial quantitative analysis was performed on six of the GM maize qualitatively positive samples. The estimated amounts of GM maize in these samples ranged from 0.2 to 2.8%, except for one sample, which contained 24.1%. For this sample, the total amount found by event-specific quantitative analysis was 23.8%. Additionally, Roundup Ready soy was detected in one sample of 21 potato-processed foods, although GM potatoes were not detected in any sample.  相似文献

Summary The potato phosphorylase-catalyzed polymerization of α-D-glucose-1-phosphate (G-1-P) onto poly[styrene-block-(4-vinylbenzyl maltohexaoside)] (1) was performed at the molar ratios of [G-l-P]0 and [maltohexaose]0 of 35, 80, and 250. The product was found to be soluble in dimethyl sulfoxide, which was a good solvent for amylose, and showed the complex-formation with iodine, indicating that the product was assignable to poly[styrene-block-(styrene-graft-amylose)] (2). The quantitative analysis of the liberated phosphoric acid gave the average degree of polymerization o f the glucose unit (n) as 27, 5 1, and 180 for 2-I, 2-II, and 2-III, respectively. In this work a default revision mechanism is introduced into speculative computation to manage incomplete information. The default revision is supported by a method for the generation of default constraints based on Bayesian networks. The method enables the generation of an initial set of defaults which is used to produce the most likely scenarios during the computation, represented by active processes. As facts arrive, the Bayesian network is used to derive new defaults. The objective with such a new dynamic mechanism is to keep the active processes coherent with arrived facts. This is achieved by changing the initial set of default constraints during the reasoning process in speculative computation. A practical example in clinical decision support is described.  相似文献

Advances in the digital network society require both higher density and higher transfer rates in all sorts of storage systems. Especially in optical recording, the trend toward higher density and larger capacity requires novel surface-recording technologies that can drastically diminish head-to-medium spacing, resulting in an improvement in spatial resolution and, finally, a higher recording density. To this end, we have already proposed a novel contact optical head slider that is able to almost cancel the suspension load by generating hydrodynamic pressure, thus realizing a lower net contact force. Evaluating the dynamic contact force is requisite in realizing its stable sliding operation and higher signal readout performance. In this study, a continuous acoustic emission (AE) signal was utilized to detect the dynamic contact force. AE signal modulation was compared with the applied out-of-plane acceleration on a medium generated by a spindle combined piezo-electric actuator. It was clarified that the detected AE modulation amplitude was approximately proportional to the applied acceleration, and that utilizing AE modulation will be a useful method for evaluating dynamic contact force.  相似文献

Factors contributing to the thermostability of inorganic pyrophosphatase (PPase) were investigated by examining chimeric PPases from Escherichia coli and Thermus thermophilus (Tth). Two chimeric PPase genes, T1-135E (residues 1-135 from the N terminus are comprised of Tth PPase and residues 136-173 are derived from the C terminus of E. coli PPase) and T1-149E [residues 1-149 from the N terminus are from Tth PPase and the rest (150-175) are from E. coli PPase], were constructed by random chimeragenesis. After the genes were overexpressed in the E. coli BL21(DE3) strain and the expression products were purified, we compared the characteristics of these chimeric PPases with those of the parental PPases. We found that the two chimeras had higher activity than either parent PPase at the optimum temperature. We also examined thermal stability in terms of CD spectra, fluorescence spectra, and thermal changes in enzyme activity. The results revealed that the thermal stability of T1-149E is similar to that of Tth PPase, but T1-135E is much more stable. This suggests that the four residues that are different between T1-135E and T1-149E may be critical for thermostability between the two chimeras. By comparing the three-dimensional structures of Tth and E. coli PPases, we deduced that the following two factors may contribute to differences in thermostability. (1) Two residues (Thr138 and Ala141 in the Tth PPase and His140 and Asp143 in the E. coli PPase) in the vicinity of the trimer-trimer interface were different. (2) The Ala144-Lys145 loop in the Tth PPase was deleted in the E. coli PPase and also in the T1-135E chimera. Therefore, we conclude that T1-135E was thermostabilized by these two factors, and also, the Tth PPase moiety may contribute to the structural integrity of the chimeric enzymes.  相似文献

In recent years, motor drive systems for steel rolling mills have been steadily increasing in capacity. In particular, the development of three‐level NPC (Neutral Point Clamped) inverters is now focusing on the replacement of cycloconverters. In order to satisfy such a requirement, in this paper a multiple three‐level NPC inverter system is proposed. The configuration consists of two three‐level NPC inverters with the same configuration connected in parallel by current limiting reactors. In this case, the circulating current flowing between the two three‐level NPC inverters must be controlled to prevent a decrease in the maximum output capacity. In particular, a new method for control of the circulating current is a major topic of discussion. The method is based on space voltage vector‐based PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) control for the three‐level NPC inverters and the circulating current is controlled by adjusting the output durations of the respective space voltage vectors. In this method the circulating current controller can be decoupled from the motor current controller. Therefore, it is possible to design the different controllers independently. In addition, the experimental results obtained using an induction motor show that the circulating current can be reduced to within 2% of the rated motor current when the motor current response exceeds 1000 rad/s. © 2001 Scripta Technica, Electr Eng Jpn, 136(2): 38–48, 2001  相似文献

Rhizobitoxine is synthesized by the legume symbiont Bradyrhizobium elkanii and the plant pathogen Burkholderia andropogonis. Rhizobitoxine competitively inhibited 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylate (ACC) synthase bLE-ACS2 from the tomato, a key enzyme in the pathway of ethylene biosynthesis. Based on this inhibition of ACC synthase, we have developed a new assay for rhizobitoxine.  相似文献

A new principle of control system design called matching was recently introduced by Zakian. The principle requires the designer to choose a controller which makes a system match its environment. Characterization of matched controllers by means of Youla parameterization is discussed in this paper. Sufficient conditions for matching are given in the form of inequality constraints on the norm of the free parameters in the parametrizations based on nominal matched controllers.  相似文献
