Polymer materials for clinical applications should be bioactive and have a bone-bonding ability. In order to provide poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) with bioactivity, granules (<45 m) of a bioactive glass 50CaO·50SiO2 (mol %) were implanted into PMMA: they were suspended together with a piece of PMMA in a 40 tetrahydrofuran-60 ethanol (vol %) solution and ultrasonically agitated. The granules of <10 m in size were impregnated at 40–20 m depth below the substrate surface. Two types were detected on the PMMA surface: (a) a glass-granule layer on PMMA, and (b) an inner granule layer, a PMMA layer, and an outer granule layer on the PMMA. The bioactivity of the implanted PMMA substrates was examined in vitro with a simulated body fluid (Kokubo solution). Apatite was precipitated on all glass granules and the whole substrate surfaces within 1 d. After 4 h soaking in the Kokubo solution, aggregates of apatite particles appeared on the substrate surface, independently of those on the glass granules, and they grew and proliferated on the whole subtrate surface in 7 d. Silica gel islands on PMMA due to the silicate anions from the glass were considered to induce nucleation of the apatite particles.  相似文献

β-Tricalcium phosphate (β-Ca3(PO4)2, β-TCP) powders were synthesized using wet polymeric precipitation method for the first time to our best knowledge. The results of X-ray diffraction analysis showed the formation of almost single a Ca-deficient hydroxyapatite (CDHA) phase of a poor crystallinity already at room temperature. With continuously increasing the calcination temperature up to 800 °C the crystalline β-TCP was obtained as the main phase. It was demonstrated that infrared spectroscopy is very effective method to characterize the formation of β-Ca3(PO4)2. The SEM results showed that β-Ca3(PO4)2 solids were homogeneous having a small particle size distribution. The β-TCP powders consisted of spherical particles varying in size from 100 to 300 nm. Fabricated β-TCP specimens were placed to the bones of the rats and maintained for 1–2 months. The histological properties of these samples will be also investigated.  相似文献

Carbonate apatite (CO3Ap) foam with an interconnected porous structure is highly attractive as a scaffold for bone replacement. In this study, arbitrarily shaped CO3Ap foam was formed from α-tricalcium phosphate (α-TCP) foam granules via a two-step process involving treatment with acidic calcium phosphate solution followed by hydrothermal treatment with NaHCO3. The treatment with acidic calcium phosphate solution, which is key to fabricating arbitrarily shaped CO3Ap foam, enables dicalcium hydrogen phosphate dihydrate (DCPD) crystals to form on the α-TCP foam granules. The generated DCPD crystals cause the α-TCP granules to interlock with each other, inducing an α-TCP/DCPD foam. The interlocking structure containing DCPD crystals can survive hydrothermal treatment with NaHCO3. The arbitrarily shaped CO3Ap foam was fabricated from the α-TCP/DCPD foam via hydrothermal treatment at 200?°C for 24?h in the presence of a large amount of NaHCO3.  相似文献

Rationally manipulating the functional substituents plays a crucial role in tuning the luminescence and lasing properties of organic gain media. Herein, a cyanophenyl-moiety, which exhibits relatively weaker electron affinity, is connected to 2,6-dicarbonitrile diphenyl-1λ5-phosphinine (DCNP) via para-linking. Resultantly, the appreciated locally-excited characteristics ensuring a large oscillator strength and high radiative rate can be reserved in DCNP-4-(4-cyanophenyl) (DCNP-pCN). Interestingly, the weak charge-transfer state from the relative donor (D)/acceptor (A) interplay enables small singlet-triplet splitting (ΔEST ≈ 0.45 eV). Thus the triplets generated on DCNP-pCN can be efficiently scavenged by 4,4'-bis[(N-carbazole)styryl]biphenyl (BSBCz), which is used as the host with a lower-lying triplet energy level for DCNP-pCN. Moreover, benefitting from the mediation between the conjugated length extension and weak D/A interplay, the emission spectrum cannot be largely shifted, which can effectively suppress the overlap between the lasing emission of DCNP-pCN and the excited-state absorption of BSBCz, thereby avoiding detrimental singlet-triplet annihilation. Thus, high-quality distributed feedback lasings with ≈2.0 μJ cm−2 thresholds are achieved, and the organic light-emitting diodes exhibit external quantum efficiency exceeding 2.0% without efficiency rolloff under high current injection, indicating the potential for electrical-pumping organic lasings.  相似文献

Poly(L-lactic acid) (PLLA) microfibers were obtained by a carbon dioxide (CO2) laser-thinning method. A laser-thinning apparatus used to continuously prepare microfibers was developed in our laboratory; it consisted of spools supplying and winding the fibers, a continuous-wave CO2-laser emitter, a system supplying the fibers, and a traverse. The laser-thinning apparatus produced PLLA microfibers in the range of 100-800 m min−1. The diameter of the microfibers decreased as the winding speed increased, and the birefringence increased as the winding speed increased. When microfibers, obtained through the laser irradiation (at a laser power of 8.0 W cm−2) of the original fiber supplied at 0.4 m min−1, were wound at 800 m min−1, they had a diameter of 1.37 μm and a birefringence of 24.1×10−3. The draw ratio calculated from the supplying and winding speeds was 2000×. The degree of crystal orientation increased with increasing the winding speed. Scanning electron microscopy showed that the microfibers obtained with the laser-thinning apparatus had smooth surfaces not roughened by laser ablation that were uniform in diameter. The PLLA microfiber, which was obtained under an optimum condition, had a Young's modulus of 5.8 GPa and tensile strength of 0.75 GPa.  相似文献

Low-temperature deposition of crystalline titania films on intrinsically bioinert materials to induce the bioactivity is of practical interest, not only because it meets the demand of providing organic biomaterials with bioactivity, which cannot tolerate high-temperature thermal treatments, but also because it reserves abundant Ti–OH groups facilitating the apatite deposition. In this paper, rutile films with thickness varied from 0.1 μm to 1.7 μm were deposited on commercially available pure titanium substrates from 1.5 M titanium tetrachloride aqueous solution kept at 60 °C for 3–60 h. The rutile films grew to give a preferred (101) crystalline plane in the X-ray diffraction pattern. After soaking in a simulated body fluid of the Kokubo solution (SBF) for 2 days, the rutile films with thickness over 0.6 μm were covered with a layer of apatite. All the films with various thickness induced apatite deposition in SBF after soaking for 5 days. The bioinert polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) was also found to exhibit remarkable in vitro bioactivity as to induce apatite deposition from SBF within 2 days, after depositing the rutile film on the surface. This paper deals with the analysis of spherical conducting particle motion as well as particle initiated breakdown in electric fields between diverging conducting plates with dc voltage in atmospheric air. Motion of spherical particle was estimated by solving the motion equation numerically, and the results agreed well with the experimental ones. It was found that when the particle is placed on the horizontal electrode surface where the electric field is nearly equal to the lifting field, the particle progresses towards a higher electric field region by the effect of Coulomb force and electrical gradient force. This is true for a nonspherical conducting particle. The obtained results for particle motion suggest that much attention should be paid in the design of GIS particle traps to forces acting on the particle directly towards the higher electric field region. Moreover, the particle-initiated breakdown is discussed on the basis of the experimental and theoretical results. It was found that one of the reasons for reduction of the breakdown voltage is the effect of microdischarge between the particle and an oppositely charged electrode  相似文献

Studies were conducted to determine the critical micelle concentration (CMC) of phospholipids in vegetable oils and the size of reverse micelles to understand their rejection phenomenon in the membrane process. The CMC values of phosphatidylcholine (PC) in triolein and phospholipids in crude soybean oil were determined to be 440 and 1020 mg/kg, respectively, by using TCNQ (7,7,8,8‐tetracyano‐quinodimethane) solubilization technique. The surface tension measurements of these samples gave similar values of CMC. From small‐angle X‐ray scattering (SAXS) analysis, the size of the PC micelles was determined to be in the range of 3.56 to 4.70 nm. The characterization of reverse micelles formed in the oil system was found useful in enhancing the understanding of the possible rejection phenomenon of phospholipids by non‐porous polymeric composite membranes used in our earlier studies on vegetable oils and in suggesting suitable types of membranes for the same.  相似文献

Application of an optical measuring technique was attempted in order to develop harmonic voltage and current measuring instruments for distribution systems. To develop the harmonic voltage measuring system using a Bi12GeO20 crystal as a sensing Pockels cell for high‐voltage distribution lines, zinc oxide elements were adopted as a voltage divider. Also, an optical current sensor system was improved on the harmonic current measuring system using an R3Fe5O12 film as a Faraday device. In practical three‐phase distribution systems, the developed high voltage harmonic measuring devices using the optical voltage sensor and current sensor were compared with conventional harmonic analyzers for low voltage. Multi-phase-field (MPF) model with a higher-order term representing energetic penalty for multiple junctions was proposed to predict the grain growth accompanying the inclination dependence of grain boundary (GB) energy and mobility. The inclination effect was introduced on the basis of GB energy obtained from molecular dynamics (MD) simulations. The preliminary grain growth simulation of an isolated grain surrounded by Σ3 GB certified that the analytical equilibrium shape was well reproduced. The augmented higher-order term added to conventional MPF model could improve convergence and stability of numerical calculations around triple junction (TJ) region even if there exists the large GB energy gap at the TJ. Moreover, the present MPF model can realize well the Young’s relation with no GB inclination effect and further extend to the case with that effect. For the polycrystalline grain growth simulations with the GB energy distribution according to the misorientation angle of Al 〈1 1 0〉 tilt GB, Σ3 GB inclination lead the weak anisotropy characterized by Σ3{111} twin boundary. Besides, the inclination dependence can effectively drive the GBs with low GB energy like the low-angle GB during grain growth.  相似文献
