The scavenging of a resistive siliceous phase via the addition of Al2 O3 was studied, using imaging secondary-ion mass spectroscopy (SIMS), given the improved grain-boundary conductivity in 8-mol%-yttria-stabilized zirconia (8YSZ). The grain-boundary resistivity in 8YSZ decreased noticeably with the addition of 1 mol% of Al2 O3 . Strong SiO2 segregation at the grain boundaries was observed in a SIMS map of pure 8YSZ that contained 120 ppm of SiO2 (by weight). The addition of 1 mol% of Al2 O3 caused the SiO2 to gather around the Al2 O3 particles. The present observations provided direct and visual evidence of SiO2 segregation at the grain boundaries (which had a deleterious effect on grain-boundary conductivity) and the scavenging of SiO2 via Al2 O3 addition. 相似文献

The Co/MFI(SiO2/Al2O3 = 30) were prepared by a precipitation method with NaOCl in alkali solutions exhibited high activities to N2 at 250 °C for the selective catalytic reduction (SCR) of NOx. These catalysts showed two UV–vis bands at 700 and 400 nm, indicating the presence of octahedral Co(III) as well as tetrahedral Co(II). The high SCR activity over such Co(III, II)/MFI(30) seems to come from Co(III)---O moieties. The Co(II)MFI(30) catalysts prepared from Co(II)Cl2 exhibited low SCR activities due to the presence of tetrahedral Co(II) ions in MFI. Less CO formation occurred over Co/MFI catalysts. The Fe/MFI(30) catalyst exhibited high activity due to the presence of some Fe---O species in MFI but more amount of CO were produced during SCR. H/MFI(30) catalyst exhibited a good SCR activity. However, more amount of carbonaceous deposits were produced on it. The correlation between acid concentration and SCR activity was discussed over H/MFIs. 相似文献

Ethylene decomposition was performed over supported Pt catalysts to fabricate composites of Pt metal nanoparticles and carbon nanotubes (CNTs). All supported Pt catalysts (Pt/carbon black, Pt/CNT, Pt/MgO, Pt/Al2O3 and Pt/SiO2) showed catalytic activity for ethylene decomposition at 973 K to form CNTs. Pt metal particles were found at tips of CNTs. These results indicate that Pt metal particles have catalytic activity for growth of CNTs through hydrocarbon decomposition. A broad range (5-50 nm) of CNT diameters were formed from the use of supported Pt metal catalysts although Pt metal particles in the catalysts before ethylene decomposition were relatively uniform in size (2-5 nm). These results imply that Pt metal particles in the catalysts aggregated during ethylene decomposition at 973 K. Aggregation of Pt metal particles in catalysts during ethylene decomposition could be suppressed by covering catalysts with silica layers that were a few nanometers thick. Silica-coated Pt catalysts showed high activity for ethylene decomposition to form CNTs with uniform diameters (8-10 nm) despite the uniform coverage of Pt metal particles with silica layers. 相似文献

Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy was used to study the mechanism by which copper oxides are reduced in alkaline solutions. For the reductions of CuO and Cu2O, a capacitive loop and also an inductive loop under certain conditions were observed in the complex plane. The electrochemical impedance for CuO reduction was not greatly dependent on the solution alkalinity and the kind of alkali hydroxide. However, the electrochemical impedance for Cu2O reduction was considerably affected by the kind and concentration of alkali hydroxide. The diameter of the capacitive loop, i.e., the charge-transfer resistance (Rct), was increased with increase in solution alkalinity. It should also be noted that Rct was increased in the order of KOH < NaOH < LiOH. These dependences were consistent with the good separation between the reduction potentials of CuO and Cu2O in chronopotentiometric and voltammetric measurements with strongly alkaline electrolytes containing Li+. The inductive loop observed for the Cu2O reduction at higher concentrations of KOH (>6 M) and LiOH (>0.2 M) suggested the existence of an intermediate species (probably CuOH). The specific inhibitory effect of Li+ ions on the reduction of Cu2O might be explained by a possible stabilization of CuOH by Li+ ions. 相似文献

Objective : The aim of this study was to clarify an influence of the fine structure of human tooth enamel to the yellowing teeth. Materials and methods : Sound maxillary first premolars of 15–50‐year‐old females that were extracted for the orthodontic treatment were used as the test samples. The tooth enamel sections of these teeth that prepared by ion polishing were observed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Furthermore, the fine structure of substance filling the inter‐rod spaces was analyzed by high resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM). Results : In white tooth, the inter‐rod spaces were observed at the width of about 0.1 μm, while in yellow tooth, the inter‐rod spaces were not clearly observed by SEM. HRTEM observations revealed for the first time that the inter‐rod spaces were filled with fine particles of poorly crystallized hydroxyapatite in the yellow tooth. In yellow tooth, it was considered that the color of the inner dentin was recognized due to the decrease of light scattering by filling the tooth enamel inter‐rod spaces. The generation of particles in the tooth enamel inter‐rod spaces was considered to be caused by the long‐time progression of calcification. Conclusions : These results suggested that the change in fine structure, filling in inter‐rod spaces of tooth enamel, was related to progression of calcification in the inter‐rod spaces with advancing age and one of the factors of yellowness of human tooth. We have developed an in vitro system to easily examine the affinity for vitamin D receptor (VDR) and CYP24A1-mediated metabolism as two methods of assessing vitamin D derivatives. Vitamin D derivatives with high VDR affinity and resistance to CYP24A1-mediated metabolism could be good therapeutic agents. This system can effectively select vitamin D derivatives with these useful properties. We have also developed an in vivo system including a Cyp27b1-gene-deficient rat (a type I rickets model), a Vdr-gene-deficient rat (a type II rickets model), and a rat with a mutant Vdr (R270L) (another type II rickets model) using a genome editing method. For Cyp27b1-gene-deficient and Vdr mutant (R270L) rats, amelioration of rickets symptoms can be used as an index of the efficacy of vitamin D derivatives. Vdr-gene-deficient rats can be used to assess the activities of vitamin D derivatives specialized for actions not mediated by VDR. One of our original vitamin D derivatives, which displays high affinity VDR binding and resistance to CYP24A1-dependent metabolism, has shown good therapeutic effects in Vdr (R270L) rats, although further analysis is needed. 相似文献

Identification of SYS1 as a Host Factor Required for Shiga Toxin-Mediated Cytotoxicity in Vero Cells

Shiga toxin (STx) or Vero toxin is a virulence factor produced by enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli. The toxin binds to the glycosphingolipid globotriaosylceramide (Gb3) for its entry, and causes cell death by inhibiting ribosome function. Previously, we performed a loss-of-function screen in HeLa cells using a human CRISPR knockout (KO) library and identified various host genes required for STx-induced cell death. To determine whether this library targeted to the human genome is applicable to non-human primate cells and to identify previously unrecognized factors crucial for STx-induced cell death, we herein performed a similar screen in the African green monkey kidney-derived Vero C1008 subline. Many genes relevant to metabolic enzymes and membrane trafficking were enriched, although the number of enriched genes was less than that obtained in the screening for HeLa cells. Of note, several genes that had not been enriched in the previous screening were enriched: one of these genes was SYS1, which encodes a multi-spanning membrane protein in the Golgi apparatus. In SYS1 KO Vero cells, expression of Gb3 and sphingomyelin was decreased, while that of glucosylceramide and lactosylceramide was increased. In addition, loss of SYS1 inhibited the biosynthesis of protein glycans, deformed the Golgi apparatus, and perturbed the localization of trans-Golgi network protein (TGN) 46. These results indicate that the human CRISPR KO library is applicable to Vero cell lines, and SYS1 has a widespread effect on glycan biosynthesis via regulation of intra-Golgi and endosome–TGN retrograde transports. 相似文献

Undoped and Er3+-doped Bi2O3 thin films were sputter-deposited on Si(100) substrates. Sufficiently oxidized Bi2O3 films with refractive indices between 2.17?2.23 were obtained at a wavelength of 633 nm; these values are comparable to those of bulk Bi2O3 crystals. While the film composition was stable for deposition temperatures between room temperature (RT) and 450 °C, the refractive index steeply decreased above 450 °C and reached 1.4 at 600 °C. The lowering of the optical transmittance spectra indicated aggregation of metallic Bi and darkening of the film. All films exhibited X-ray diffraction patterns of α-Bi2O3. The direct and indirect bandgap energies derived from the Tauc plots were 3.4–3.7 eV and 1.9–2.5 eV, respectively, depending on the O2 flow rate and deposition temperature. Upon excitation of Er3+-doped Bi2O3 films at 532 nm, Er3+ emissions peaking at 1537 and 1541 nm appeared, and the photoluminescence spectra included fine structures reflecting crystal-field splitting. Resonant excitation of Er3+ 4f levels and indirect excitation via the defect levels of Bi2O3 followed by energy transfer to Er3+ contributed to the emission. The films deposited at RT with Er concentrations of 2 at.% had the emission intensity of Er3+, but concentration quenching strongly suppressed the Er3+ emission because the doped Er3+ ions stayed inside the Bi2O3 crystals. At deposition temperatures above 400 °C, the concentration quenching was mitigated possibly because out-diffusion of Er3+ ions reduced the effective number of Er3+ ions in the Bi2O3 crystalline domains. 相似文献

Photocatalysis of a hollandite compound KxGaxSn8−xO16 (x = ca. 1.8) was examined for the reduction of nitrate ion with a reducing agent of methanol in water under UV irradiation. Hollandites have a characteristic one-dimensional tunnel structure. The hollandite powder, which was prepared by the sol–gel method and unloaded with any additives like metals, was used as the photocatalyst and its photocatalytic reaction was analyzed quantitatively by using ion chromatography and on-line mass spectrometry, and its reaction mechanism was analyzed by in-situ FT-IR. The hollandite photocatalyst showed a significant activity for the formation of N2 from NO3−. The nitrate was reduced to N2 and NO2−, while the reducing agent methanol was partly oxidized to change to formic acid. The conversion of NO3−was proportional to the yields of N2, NO2−, and HCOO−. The present photocatalyzed decomposition of NO3− to N2 would be a useful photocatalysis for the environmental protection of water. 相似文献
